Plugin all in. Setting Up All in One SEO Pack Correctly - An in-depth guide to setting up an All in One SEO Pack for WordPress. Setting up SEO metrics for a specific post or static page

This article is about how to set up All in one seo pack correctly plugin for WordPress. That will allow you to influence the presentation of the site in the search and get more visitors to the site.

Installing the plugin

The Russian version of the All in one seo plugin is installed directly from the WordPress dashboard, in the Plugins menu. If the basic functionality is not enough for you, you can buy the official premium version. You can get into the top 10 search without it.

After installing the plugin, go to the "Modules" page and enable all the necessary ones. I recommend that you put everything in, and then disassemble and turn off the unnecessary ones.

Basic plugin settings

In the general settings panel, enable all functions. If you are not familiar with canonical url (canonical meta-tag), I recommend that you figure it out.

Schema.org micro-markup helps search engines interpret the information on your pages, for which they will be grateful. We have a separate article about micro-markup.

Setting up custom post types

Here we select the post types for which the plugin settings will be shown. Since we will only leave Pages and Posts in the index, we will hide it on the other types.

In "Google Settings" add a link to the author's profile (yours or brand profile) in google +. We also add the analytics counter ID, if you have one. We have a separate article on how to create and add an Analytics counter to the site.

Site page indexing settings

We allow posts and pages to be indexed by search engines. When promoting an online store, you also include Product Categories and the Products themselves. The general principle: everything that you mark will end up in the search results - there is nothing for weak pages to do there.

In the advanced settings, specify "Attachment Redirection". This will remove unnecessary media pages from the search results and increase the relevance of landing pages.

Meta description templates

We remove the% blog-title% at the end, otherwise the site name will be added to all your titles, separated by a hyphen. If the title contains two or more words, the uniqueness and relevance of the pages will suffer.

If you have one word or domain as the name of the site, the template can be left unchanged.

Titles and meta descriptions of individual pages

Now let's move on to editing pages or posts. An additional module "All in One SEO Pack" has appeared at the bottom of the page. All Posts and Pages can be assigned their own Title and description. And at the same time to see how the page will look in search engines:

The plugin will suggest the optimal length of the Title and Meta Description.

"Home page"

WordPress allows you to set one of the existing pages (pages) as the main one, or use the blog feed. In the first case, we set the Title and description in the editor of the page itself. To set the metadata of the blog category, fill in the "Main page settings" block.

XML Sitemap All in One SEO pack

You can customize sitemap.xml through the "Sitemap" module. We mark the types of records we need. As I wrote earlier, we do not include media files. I also recommend excluding images. When taxonomy pages do not contain useful content, they should be turned off.

Robots.txt and .htaccess file editor

Through the "File Editor" module, you can edit robots and htaccess directly from the WordPress dashboard. What is extremely convenient - you do not need access to FTP and hosting control panel.

Editing robots.txt and .htaccess from WordPress.

WooCommerce and All in One SEO Pack

WooCommerce products (like their categories) are flavors of Posts. Their behavior is configurable in the same way as normal pages. Title and description are specified directly on product pages. If your store has a lot of products, metadata templates will help a lot.

Instead of a conclusion

Hello my friend! In this article, I'll walk you through a basic, must-have blog plugin - All in One Seo Pack. This plugin is necessary to improve blog performance and internal SEO optimization.

The plugin consists of eight sections, each of which is responsible for the most important SEO settings. Next, I will go into detail about the settings for each of the modules of this great plugin.

The plugin developer is Michael Torbert, a native of the US state of Virginia, North Carolina, Cary.

Michael is a Christian, southerner, and retired sailor.

Today, he is only focusing on plugins for the WordPress CMS engine.

Michael Torbert continues to improve and develop the All in One seo pack plugin, for which many thanks to him.

Why is it necessary to install the All in One Seo Pack?

There are analogues of this plugin such as Platinum Seo Pack and WordPress SEO. These plugins are no worse than All in One seo pack, and in some respects even better than it. For example, WordPress Seo allows us to control the degree and correctness of the optimization that we do ourselves.

Focusing on color values and on the tips of the plugin itself, you can quite strongly and competently optimize a new article there.

Unfortunately, there is no such function in All in One Seo Pack. But at the moment, All in One Seo Pack is on my engine, since it is simpler, more understandable and rather multifunctional.

This plugin since 2007 is a classic among plugins that are responsible for SEO of a site. Statistics tell us over 19 million downloads of this plugin from the official WordPress site.

Not a bad indicator, isn't it? Therefore, I recommend that you do not change the original source, carefully study all its settings according to my article and apply all its functions in your practice.

Michael Torbert has also developed a paid version 2.2 Pro with advanced features, such as the ability to optimize and promote individual pages of the site.

With the help of the pro-plugin and its module - the validator, you can control the indexing of the site by search engines. And in the advanced file editor, edit such important files as htaccess and robots.txt.

A lot of the functions necessary for optimization are included in the new paid version of the plugin and its cost per year is now $ 79 for a special offer.

We are using a lighter and simpler free version, the settings of which will be discussed below. I carefully studied all the features of this wonderful plugin and wrote for you the most complete guide to its settings. So, let's begin…

What opportunities does the All in One seo Pack plugin give us?

  • customizes title and meta tags for all blog pages;
  • if necessary, automatically generates titles and descriptions for blog articles;
  • excludes unnecessary sections, archives and blog pages from search;
  • has the ability to connect the blog to the webmaster of Google, Bing and Pinterest;
  • adaptation of a blog with Google+ for profile search results by adding your account id in the settings;
  • the ability to connect to the Google Analytics blog;
  • knows how to create an XML sitemap for search robots in full automatic;
  • has indexing settings (noindex) for headings, archives, tag archives, search page, author archives;
  • has a section for making exceptions from optimization;
  • generates keywords and descriptions for the correct display of the blog on social networks, downloads images of the main page of the site;
  • adjusts the performance of the blog by increasing the memory limit;
  • has convenient statistics of the blog system and plugins installed on it;
  • in the latest version of the plugin 2.2.2, which I am showing you, a convenient File Editor has appeared.

As you can see, the plugin's functionality is quite large, so it has long been very popular among webmasters. Now let's take a look at the plugin settings in more detail using screenshots.

If you are a beginner, then just check the boxes where they appear in the pictures. This blog setup will be the most correct.

How to set up the All in One Seo Pack plugin correctly

First, download the archive with the latest version of the plugin (2.2.1) from the official WordPress site here: wordpress.org/plugins/all-in-one-seo-pack/.

I think you can easily install and activate the plugin right in your WordPress admin panel. I will not dwell on this in detail. In my previous articles, I talked in detail about how to upload an archive with a plugin to your server.

After you activate the plugin on your engine, the name of this plugin will appear in the left menu of the admin panel and at the top of the console panel in two places. It will look like this (I'm showing you the example of the wordpress engine version 3.9.1).

The main

Now let's get down to the main settings of this plugin. Open the first Settings page, which is called “SEO Tools Plugin Settings.” Check the boxes and checkboxes as shown in the screenshots.

  1. If you have a desire, you can donate the amount that you do not mind for the development of the plugin.
  2. Canonical page URLs must be checked in order to remove similar pages from the search.
  3. Naturally, we will write our headings, and not by default, we note that.
  4. If you need, then you can keep a log of events, in this case, put a check mark, I do not need an extra load on the blog, so I did not put a check mark here.

Setting up the main page of the site

In this section of the settings page, you need to register the semantic core of your site. The main page of any site or blog is its heart, the main organ of your resource, and the quality of indexing of your site by search engines depends on how you write everything here correctly.

Do you want your site to be always in the TOP? Write the title of your site, a short description of what your site is about, what articles it contains, and in the third field write the main keywords (meta tags). This is how it all looks on my blog.

Key settings

What should be noted in this section? Keywords are needed, first of all, for better indexing of new entries, for searching a blog, as well as displaying similar entries.

In this section of the settings, I did not put a tick in front of the labels and records, since I write the keywords for each record myself, I don’t use tags at all, I don’t form keys from my headings.

In order not to generate unnecessary garbage on my site, I made these settings. But if, for example, you use a plugin on your blog to display similar posts, then you should check the boxes opposite the headings and tags.

Header settings

Here in this section you customize the titles of your blog posts. I made the following settings.

Pay special attention to the setting of the 404 page. It is best to write the following line in this field, having Russified it: Sorry, there is no such page% request_words%! This will make it clearer to the site user that this is a 404 error page.

Settings for custom post types

The next section of settings is for which post types the settings should be displayed in this plugin. On my site, I have enabled the optimization of my posts, pages, media files, as well as landing pages that I do using the wppage subscription and selling page generator.

Appearance settings

Settings for Webmaster

In this section of settings, we must mark our account in the Webmaster panel of such search engines as Google, Bing and Pinterest. When we register our site in the same Google, we must confirm our authorship, prove that you are the admin of your site. This can be done in different ways, such as placing a txt or html file with search engine data in the root of the site.

You can prove your authorship using the settings in the DNS domain or by inserting meta tags, which is what the All in One Seo Pack plugin offers us. I have long ago confirmed my affiliation with the blog using a txt file, there is no point in re-confirming here using meta tags. Therefore, I do not write anything in these fields.

Google services settings

Here in this section you can configure the display of your Google+ profile. As everyone knows, active website promotion in search results also depends on such an important factor as visual perception.

If you see an icon with a photo of the author next to the site address and a post on the topic, then, of course, you will click on this particular site. Even if this site will be placed in the search engine results much lower than its competitors. Who will the user trust more? Naturally, to a well-designed and authorized site, and not to its faceless relatives.

If you actively use the promotion of your site through social networks, this option in the plugin settings will be especially necessary for you.

SEO optimization WordPress requires competent analytics. Many of you use both the usual Yandex Metric for site statistics and Google Analytics.

So in this plugin, you can insert a code for tracking the development of your site, automatically display all statistics and not lose it when changing, for example, a site template. Everything is very convenient and well thought out.

So far, I only use the capabilities of Yandex Metrica, so the Google Analytics field remains empty for me. But you can enter your ID and use this handy feature of the All in One Seo Pack plugin.

Indexing settings (noindex)

For a good indexing of the site and its rapid promotion in the search results, competent optimization of pages and the absence of their duplicates is necessary. Where do these duplicates come from, you ask?

Most often, duplicate or duplicate pages appear from archives of posts, from archives of site search, from comments of your users. All this greatly clogs your site and slows down its promotion.

To save yourself and your site from unnecessary headaches, the All in One Seo Pack plugin can help you exclude certain pages or posts from the index by search engines.

In my settings, I excluded categories, daily archives and authors' archives from the index (although I don't have them yet, just in case), tag archives and site search pages.

Additional settings

In this last section of the General plugin settings, you can check the first item if you want the plugin to generate a description of your posts for you.

If someone is too lazy to write a description, then this option will be just right. Although I am of a different opinion. You can check the box here, but you still have to correct the text after automatic generation. A lively catchy description for people is many times better than an opus of a non-living program.

Here you can make any additional settings for your site. For example, you can exclude from the optimization process any pages, additional titles of posts and pages, additional titles unnecessary for indexing on the main page.

You can make additional settings here at your discretion and as needed. And of course, do not forget to save all your settings by clicking the "Update settings" button at the very bottom.

So, we have done the basic plugin settings. Now I will show you some more usefulness of this truly brilliant SEO machine. This is the only way to call the plugin All in One Seo Pack. It's not for nothing that its author is trying and constantly improving his wonderful SEO tool.

See how many useful and useful modules one plugin All in One Seo Pack contains! We will now briefly talk about them.

Plugin generates XML sitemap for search robots

The All in One Seo Pack plugin does an excellent job of creating a map for search robots - sitemap.xml. This map is necessary for every site for the best content indexing.

But if you have already created such an xml-map for your site, but it is better to delete the file of this map from the root of the site, since the All in One Seo Pack plugin will perfectly cope with its task. Why slow down your site in vain, creating additional load for it?

If you have installed a special Google XML Sitemaps plugin on your site that generates an xml map for search robots, then also remove it from your server as unnecessary.

Our plugin All in One Seo will replace it with dignity.
Now see what settings you need to make to create an xml map using our plugin. Do not forget to click on the "Update sitemap" button at the very end of the page.

That's it, the xml sitemap has been created!

Thus, we got rid of the unnecessary Google XML Sitemaps plugin, which separately generates a map for search robots, and thereby increased the site's performance. Everything was done by one plugin All in One Seo Pack.

Plugin section "Performance"

SEO optimization of the WordPress engine must be done with good speed. For this, there is such a function in the plugin as increasing the speed limit. To enable this option, you must first connect a special module in the "Other modules" section. I recommend making the settings as shown in the screenshot.

To enable this option in the plugin, again go to the "Other modules" section and activate the "Social. Meta". Then we make the settings in the same way as we did in the General plugin settings. Their fields are very similar. See the screenshot for the settings you need to make.

Robots.txt

In version 2.2.2 of the All in One Seo Pack plugin there are wonderful additional modules and one of them is Robots.txt. On the page of this module, you can enable or disable the use of a robots.txt file.

You can immediately analyze it for compliance with standards, view the contents and decide what to remove and what to add to this file.

File Editor

To edit robots.txt files and htacces file in the new version of the plugin 2.2.2, the developer has created a very convenient file editor. This is what this handy module looks like.

Now, without leaving the site admin area, you can safely edit these two files necessary for the site. And the two plugin modules Robots.txt and File Editor are interconnected and work in tandem.

The plugin also has an Importer & Exporter module that allows you to transfer settings for optimization to the site from outside, as well as export them. But, to be honest, I haven’t had time to use this function yet. The version has just been released and started life on our WordPress engines.

All in One Seo Pack is the best!

The main thing that I realized after examining the stuffing of this plugin is that this is not just an ordinary narrowly functional module. This is a whole seo system that helps our sites in the development and promotion of search.

Having tried different plugins for SEO optimization, I came to the conclusion that there is no better plugin than All in One Seo Pack at the moment. Otherwise, how can you explain such a huge number of downloads - more than 19 million? How do you think?

Sincerely, Elena Kontievskaya

Setting up the All in One SEO Pack plugin by Michael Torbert is one of the first steps to start a website after. Despite the existence of many other similar plugins, I prefer All in One SEO Pack due to its flexible settings and regular updates.

The basic functions available in the free version are quite enough to customize the site for better indexing by search robots. It is possible to create a dynamic sitemap.xml file that is automatically updated every time a new page appears on the site. It is possible to exclude duplicate pages from indexing, which are inevitably generated by the WordPress engine itself. All the possibilities cannot be enumerated at once, so let's move on to setting it up step by step.

Step-by-step All in One SEO Pack for WordPress

This All in One SEO Pack setup guide is for those new to Search Engine Optimization (SEO). It is assumed that you know little about how search robots see your site, do not know how to correctly remove duplicate pages from the index and register meta tags. We'll go through each section of this plugin's settings and break down each item and option. If you haven't downloaded and installed this plugin yet, now is the time to do it.

  • Here you can.
  • And here .

After successful installation of the plugin, go to the appeared tab “ SEO tools»In the main menu of the WordPress admin panel.

At the very top of the page, plugin developer Michael Torbert and the Semper Fi Web Design team are offering to subscribe to the WordPress secrets, tips and hacks newsletter and get a free eBook “5 SEO Tips for WordPress”.

basic settings

The first block of settings in the list is "Basic".

Thanks for the plugin, I donated... If you mark it with a checkbox and then save the changes by clicking the button " Update settings", You will see this pop-up window:

Thus, this item simply says thank you for your support, even if you did not provide this very support :) If you purchased the Pro version of this plugin, you will see a field for entering the license key at this place.

Canonical URLs... This is already a very important setting item from the SEO point of view. Checked by default, and I recommend that you leave the checkbox unchecked. Canonical URLs protect you from Google sanctions for duplicate content or multiple URLs pointing to the same content.

No Pagination for Canonical URLs... As you can see, not all the names of the settings items have been translated into Russian. This option was added for those users who want to remove pagination from canonical URLs. Typically, the canonical URLs for pagination pages are displayed like this: http://example.com/page/2. This option removes / page / 2 from the URL. I checked this option, since for SEO it is better to completely close the pagination page from indexing (more on this below).

Display title by default... Disabled by default. You may need to enable this option if your theme or other activated plugin conflicts with the All in One SEO Pack on tag entry on the site. In this case, the standard wp_title will be used.</p> <p><b>Use Schema.org Markup</b>... This option allows you to support Schema.org markup, which can be used by search engines in rich snippets. However, the new markup may not be supported by the W3C validator, so you might get errors as a result of validation with this tool. This option was added for those users who want to disable semantic markup for the sake of passing error-free validation. As you can see, I left the option enabled.</p> <p><b>Keep an event log</b>... The option creates a log file (all_in_one_seo_pack.log) in the plugin directory, which will contain important information about events in its operation. This file may be requested by the support service if you have a premium account.</p> <p><img src='https://i0.wp.com/blogbit.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/nastrojki-glavnoj-stranicy-plagina-all-in-one-seo-pack-004.jpg' width="100%" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p><b>Main page title</b>... As the name suggests, the content of this field will fill in the meta tag <title>the main page of the site. The title will be displayed on the search results page as a link to your site, so you should be very careful about filling it out. The optimal number of characters is 70. If the field is left blank, the text specified in “ <i>Settings</i>» → « <i>General</i>» → « <i>Name of the site</i>". This title is used regardless of whether a static page is displayed on the main page or a list of recent entries.</p> <p><b>Main page description</b>... The content of this field will fill the meta description tag only for the main page of the site. This tag can also be used by search engines in a snippet. Try to limit yourself to 160 characters for a page description. <br>In the screenshot below, you can see how a snippet composed of the contents of this field in Yandex search results might look:</p> <p><b>Key words of Ch. page (separate with commas)</b>... Enter in this field a comma-separated list of words and phrases that are most important to your site. For SEO purposes, the content of this meta-tag (keywords) is irrelevant, but you can use it for your own convenience to remember which keywords this page is being promoted by.</p> <p><b>Remember</b> Meta tags serve two purposes:</p> <ol><li>They tell search engines what your site is about</li> <li>They appear in search results, telling users what they find on it.</li> </ol><p>This allows users to find relevant answers to their questions. High ranking for your site will only be guaranteed if the content of these meta tags matches the content of the content on the page.</p> <p><img src='https://i2.wp.com/blogbit.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/nastrojki-klyuchej-v-plagine-all-in-one-seo-pack-006.jpg' width="100%" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p><b>Use keys</b>... This parameter enables / disables the generation of the keywords meta-tag in the page code. As I wrote above, this tag has no practical meaning for SEO purposes. If you don't want to use this tag, just disable this option. I left it enabled because it is convenient to store the key queries that the page is being promoted by.</p> <p><b>Translate categories into keys</b>... Check this box if you want to translate the name of the category under which the post is placed into a key phrase. It will be added to the general list of specific keywords that you have specified for a particular post.</p> <p><b>Translate labels to keys</b>... Same as above, only now for labels (tags). Note, the default may be checked.</p> <p><b>Generate keys to records automatically</b>... Use this setting if you want the keywords for the keywords meta tag to be dynamically generated from the keywords of the posts displayed on the blog pages. If left unchecked, All in One SEO Pack will use the settings from the post edit page. I prefer to use my own keywords for each post, so I left it unchecked.</p> <h3>Header settings</h3> <p><img src='https://i1.wp.com/blogbit.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/nastrojki-zagolovkov-v-all-in-one-seo-pack-007.jpg' height="914" width="672" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p><b>Overwrite headers</b>... This option applies to the meta tag <title>that appears in the browser tab and overwrites the standard headers. It is enabled by default. The formats in the fields below define how such headings will be formed for categories, static pages, archive pages, etc. You can specify a format for most of them.</p> <p><b>Capitalized headings</b>... If checked, all page title words will start with an uppercase letter.</p> <ul><li><b>Format for pages,</b></li> <li><b>Format for records,</b></li> <li><b>Format for headings,</b></li> <li><b>Archive Title Format,</b></li> <li><b>The format of the header of the archives for the day,</b></li> <li><b>Authors Archive Title Format,</b></li> <li><b>Format for labels,</b></li> <li><b>Format for search pages,</b></li> <li><b>Description format,</b></li> <li><b>Format for 404 pages,</b></li> <li><b>Navigation format.</b></li> </ul><p>In these fields, using a special template, you can set the format in which the titles for individual posts (posts), headings, Archive section, etc. will be displayed. Variables of this type:% page% will indicate the location of the dynamically substituted word. The entire list of such variables is expanded when you click on the field name.</p> <p>The only way to find an acceptable format for yourself is to simply try different options and see what happened on the site. Of course, your theme must support different types of pages.</p> <p><img src='https://i1.wp.com/blogbit.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/nastrojki-dlya-proizvolnyx-tipov-zapisej-all-in-one-seo-pack-008.jpg' width="100%" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p><b>SEO for custom post types</b>... In this field you need to enter the verification code of the Microsoft Bing search engine.</p> <p><b>Pinterest Tools</b>... The field for entering the verification code of the social network Pinterest.</p> <h3>Google services settings</h3> <p>Google previously supported displaying author information in search results. In August 2014, the search giant stopped supporting such information in search results. However, the ability to create custom markup on the site remained in the All in One SEO Pack plugin.</p> <p>In general, there are two ways to link your Google+ profile to your site. First, this is the standard way: on the page " <i>Users</i>» → « <i>Your profile</i>" In chapter " <i>Contacts</i>»Can be entered in the Google+ field a URL like https://plus.google.com/116907264685606207034. This profile will be used by default if you do not provide links to profiles specific to each author.</p> <p>Secondly, All in One SEO Pack adds the same field to the custom settings page, which you can read about below.</p> <p><img src='https://i1.wp.com/blogbit.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/nastrojki-servisov-Google-all-in-one-seo-pack-012.jpg' width="100%" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p><b>Google+ profile</b>... Enter your Google+ profile URL here. If specified, it will overwrite the default settings.</p> <p><b>Disable your Google+ profile</b>... Check this box if you want to remove the standard Google+ field from the page “ <i>Your profile</i>" In chapter " <i>Users</i>". Why might you need it? For example, if there are several authors on your site, and you do not want them to see this field on the edit page of their profile.</p> <p><b>Advanced Authorship Options</b>... Enables / disables additional options.</p> <p><b>Display Google Authorship</b>... On which types of pages and content to display the author's markup (rel = "author" attribute in the profile link). Can choose:</p> <ul><li>"Front Page"</li> <li>"Records",</li> <li>"Pages",</li> <li>"Media files",</li> <li>Everywhere Else, including 404 page, site search results page, archives, and other types of pages.</li> </ul><p><b>Display Publisher Meta on Front Page</b>... This option will allow you to choose whether the rel = "publisher" tag will be displayed on the main page of the site. Google recommends using it on commercial sites, that is, on those that provide services, sell something, and so on.</p> <p><b>Connect With Google Analytics</b>... Connect with Google Analytics. Try it if you have an account with this service.</p> <p><b>Google statistics ID</b>... Enter the Google Analytics tracking code UA-XXXXXXXX-X. After entering the code, it will be possible to configure additional options for tracking user behavior.</p> <p>When can this come in handy?</p> <p>For example, the option “ <b>Exclude Users From Tracking</b>»(Exclude user tracking). By ticking the checkboxes “ <i>Administrator</i>", You can try to exclude from the data collected by Google Analytics, all information about user behavior, if he is logged in to the site under the" Administrator "account.</p> <h3>Indexing settings (noindex)</h3> <p><img src='https://i2.wp.com/blogbit.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/nastrojki-indeksirovaniya-noindex-all-in-one-seo-pack-013.jpg' width="100%" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p>I've checked the following options:</p> <ul><li>Use noindex for headings</li> <li>Noindex for archives per day</li> <li>Noindex for author archives</li> <li>Noindex for tag archives</li> <li>Use noindex for the Search page</li> <li>Use noindex for paginated pages / posts</li> </ul><p>The robots = "noindex" attribute prohibits indexing the page on which this tag is located. Googlebot interprets this directive as "Don't show this page in search results."</p> <p>When might you need it?</p> <p>As you know, duplicate content, even within the same site, is not encouraged by search engines. The following types of pages create duplicate content: archives, categories, pagination pages. To avoid this, such pages should be closed from indexing.</p> <p><b>Use nofollow for paginated pages / posts</b>... The robots = "nofollow" meta tag prevents the search bot from following links on the page where the tag is set. Accordingly, the robot may not index important pages. By ticking the boxes above, I prohibited the pagination from indexing the page, but at the same time left the search robot able to follow the links on the page.</p> <p>I left the following points unchecked:</p> <ul><li>Exclude site from the Open Directory Project</li> <li>Exclude site from Yahoo! Directory</li> </ul><p>Just because my site is not in these directories. These options prevent you from pulling descriptions about your site from the open directories of the Open Directory Project (DMOZ) and Yahoo! Directory.</p> <h3>Additional settings</h3> <p><img src='https://i0.wp.com/blogbit.net/wp-content/uploads/2014/12/dopolnitelnye-nastrojki-v-plugine-all-in-one-seo-pack-014.jpg' height="840" width="672" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p><b>Generated description</b>... By checking this box, you will allow the meta name = ”descriptions” content to be generated automatically from the content text.</p> <p><b>Run Shortcodes In Autogenerated Descriptions</b>... The checked item will allow you to run shortcodes in the description of the page (meta name = "descriptions").</p> <p><b>Remove description from multi-page pages</b>... The meta descriptions tag will be removed from the pagination pages. The purpose of this paragraph is to avoid duplicate content and warnings in Google Webmaster Tools.</p> <p><b>Never shorten long descriptions</b>... By default, if the content of the descriptions field on the post edit page exceeds 160 characters, the All in One SEO Pack plugin will truncate the text. Check this box to avoid this.</p> <p><b>Unprotected META fields</b>... Checking this option will remove protection from internal post-meta fields for use with XMLPRC. If you do not understand what this is about, just leave this checkbox unchecked.</p> <p><b>Exclude Pages</b>... You can enter a comma-separated list of pages in this text box to exclude them from being processed by the All in One SEO Pack plugin. This can be useful when using plugins that generate their own custom dynamic pages. For example, if you want to exclude virtual pages created by a forum plugin, all you have to do is add forum (/ forum, / forum /) or any other URL containing the word "forum" to this field.</p> <p>In the following fields:</p> <ul><li>Add. post title</li> <li>Add. page title</li> <li>Add. homepage title (static)</li> <li>Add. home page title</li> </ul><p>you can enter additional content, which will be added unchanged to the titles of posts, pages, the main page, if it is represented by a static page, and the main page, if it is presented in the form of the latest blog posts.</p> <p>Did this article help you set up the plugin?</p> <p>Anyone who has been engaged in SEO optimization of their (or not quite their) site, stumbled upon the fact that each of the CMS has its own plugins that are responsible for generating the meta tags necessary for search engines. In this article, I will talk about the correct setup of the All in One SEO Pack plugin for WordPress, as well as tips for further use.</p><p>Basically, site owners prefer the 2 most popular WordPress CMS plugins that help SEO optimize articles: the Yoast SEO plugin and the All in One SEO Pack plugin.</p><p>I have covered the Yoast SEO plugin in great detail in the past two articles. Therefore, if the All in One SEO Pack plugin is not to your liking, then you can use Yoast SEO. Here are two articles on setting up the Yoast SEO plugin:</p><p>In the process of the article, I will go through all the functions of this plugin in detail, and at the end you will have a small test to consolidate the article material 😉.</p><h2>What All in One SEO Pack Can Do</h2><p>Let's take a look at all the functionality of this plugin:</p><ul><li><i> </i> Translated into 57 languages;</li><li><i> </i> Rewriting of all titles and meta tags (description and keywords);</li><li><i> </i> Allows to generate automatically the content of meta tags;</li><li><i> </i> Import and export of plugin settings;</li><li><i> </i> Built-in file editor <b>robots.txt</b> and <b>.htaccess</b>;</li><li><i> </i> Extended <b>canonical</b> URL for site pages;</li><li><i> </i> Supports SEO optimization of custom post types;</li><li><i> </i> The ability to connect Google Analytics from the admin panel;</li><li><i> </i> Ability to create XML sitemap: <ul><li>Scheduled;</li><li>With the ability to exclude individual pages, whole headings;</li><li>The ability to set priority.</li> </ul></li><li><i> </i> The ability to create automatic Open Graph micro-markup;</li><li><i> </i> Creation of automatic micro-markup Schema.org;</li><li><i> </i> Flexible configuration and performance management of the plugin;</li><li><i> </i> Blocking bots that, according to the plugin, behave incorrectly, so that they do not add load to the site and slow down its work;</li><li><i> </i> Basic ability to import data from the All in One SEO Pack plugin;</li> </ul><p>Like the Yoast SEO plugin, this plugin has a paid version, which has such features as:</p><ul><li><i> </i> Integration with WooCommerce;</li><li><i> </i> Function manager;</li><li><i> </i> Video XML Sitemap module;</li><li><i> </i> Advanced settings for custom post types;</li><li><i> </i> Official support from the plugin developers.</li> </ul><p>And here everything is in order with the possibilities. Now let's quickly go through the installation of this plugin and move on to setting it up. Because there are a lot of settings.</p><h2>(video instruction) How to install the plugin?</h2><p>For those who do not know how to install this plugin, I recorded a short video for 3 minutes.</p><h3>Installation video</h3><p><span class="Rd2PnQcCEW8"></span></p><h2>Basic settings of the plugin "All in One SEO Pack"</h2><p>Let's take a look at the main plugin settings. There are a lot of items, so we will consider them in blocks to make it easier for you to configure your plugin.</p><h3>Block "Basic settings"</h3><p>Let's go point by point, because there are really a lot of them here:</p><ul><li><b>"I enjoy this plugin and have made a donation"</b>- whoever has everything in order with the English language, then he will understand that the meaning of this phrase is that a tick must be ticked by those who made a donation for the further development of the plugin. It is optional, so you can omit it;</li><li><b>"Canonical URLs"</b>- this item means that for the main pages there will be a link between the blocks <head>and</head>, which indicates that this is the main page. Because there may be duplicates: if you write UTM tags for the same page, for example, then the search engine may consider that this is a duplicate. And duplicates, as you know, have a bad effect on further promotion. Therefore, we put a tick;</li><li><b>"Disallow pagination for canonical URLs"</b>- as a rule, the site always has page-by-page navigation (except for those news display methods when news appears when scrolling down the page, as it is implemented in social networks), due to which duplicate pages can also appear. Therefore, this item is also included;</li><li><b>"Include custom canonical URLs"</b>- if you are not satisfied with which canonical URLs are generated for your posts, then you can enable this parameter and write the necessary URLs yourself. But for novice webmasters it is better not to use this item and leave it disabled;</li><li><b>"Set protocol for canonical URLs"</b>- here the protocol is set for canonical URLs. It is best to leave "Auto" and let the plugin automatically detect your site protocol. What if in the near future you want to buy an SSL certificate and forget to change the protocol for canonical URLs? Believe me, this will not have the best effect on the position of your site in the search results;</li><li><b>"Use default title"</b>- a theme (template) can be installed on your site, which generates headers at its discretion. It is unlikely that these headings will be correct for further promotion. Therefore, we leave this item disabled so that the plugin can form its own headers, which we will talk about a little further;</li><li><b>"Use Schema.org Markup"</b>- micro-markup for the site is a very fine tuning, which is very individual from template to template. It is better to disable this parameter, because it will show errors in the microdata validator. Before tackling Schema.org micro-markup, it's best to read this article:;</li><li><b>"Keep an event log"</b>- as you understand, there are no plugins that would work without errors. From time to time, failures occur, because the CMS is updated, third-party plugins may conflict with this plugin, and so on. And if you enable this item, then you can view the logs (event log) of this plugin when errors occur. For developers, this is an irreplaceable thing. But, if you are a beginner webmaster, then you should not load your CMS with this setting, because you will not use it fully anyway. Therefore, we leave this item disabled.</li> </ul><p>We have covered the first block. I wrote the description of the points as short as possible so that you understand only the meaning of each of the points and what it is intended for, and not blindly set the settings.</p><p>This whole block is responsible for setting up the main page:</p><ul><li><b>"Main page title"</b>- this is nothing more than the home page. If you do not write anything here and leave the field blank, then the site name that is specified in the WordPress settings will be used;</li><li><b>"Description of the main page."</b> Is the Description for the home page. If you do not write anything, then it will be empty;</li><li><b>"Home Page Keywords"</b>- now many do not use keywords at all and normally promote their projects. Therefore, if you decide to enter keywords for the main page, then enter them in this field separated by commas;</li><li><b>"Use Static Front Page Instead"</b>- this item should be checked if a static page is used as the main page.</li> </ul><p>Next is the block " <b>Setting up keys</b>"and block" <b>Customizing headers</b>". Since the block" <b>Customizing headers</b>"big enough, then I decided to combine these two blocks and at the same time split the second block into two parts. Therefore, first we will consider the first block and half of the block with header settings:</p><p>Let's start with the first block " <b>Setting up keys</b>"because there is only one parameter here:</p><ul><li><b>"Use keywords"</b>- that is, using this item, you can enable support for keywords on pages and posts. If you have found applications for them, then you can turn on this item;</li> </ul><ul><li><b>"Overwrite headers"</b>- here I want to immediately make it clear that it is the All in One SEO Pack plugin that will overwrite, because you can get scared and disable this function. It overwrites exactly Title. You can see it on the search results and in the name of the browser tab. That is, this is NOT the name that you see on the page with your news. I recommend leaving this item on;</li><li><b>"Capitalized headings"</b>- this point, I think, is clear to you even without a big description. It means that headings will start with a capital letter, the item, of course, we leave on. But this paragraph only responds to the titles of the search pages and pages with tags;</li><li><b>"Capitalized headings"</b>- and if you include this item, then the headings will be with a capital letter. We also leave it;</li><li><b>"Home Page Title Format"</b>- here you can enter the format of the title of your main page of the site. If you click on this item, a small hint will open, where you can see other variables that can also be used to form the title of the main page. By default, this is just the page title with no extra characters, so you can leave it as it is;</li><li><b>"Format of page titles"</b>- as you know, there are different types of posts on CMS WordPress: pages, posts, and so on. And this item sets the format of headings specifically for pages. The default format is: <b>"page title | site name"</b>... You can also leave the default and leave nothing;</li><li><b>"Post Header Format"</b>- just as you described the process of forming headings for pages, it can be formed for posts (these are ordinary news on your site);</li> </ul><p>And now the second part of this block " <b>Customizing headers</b>":</p><ul><li><b>"Category heading format"</b>- CMS WordPress has pages with categories. So for these pages here you can set the format of the headers. If you click on the question mark next to it, you will see a description of which variables can be used here. I would like to draw your attention to the fact that other variables must be used here;</li><li><b>"Format of archive headers"</b>- this item is responsible for the formation of headers with the archive of USER post types. Because in CMS WordPress you can create custom post types, and this plugin allows you to change the titles;</li><li><b>Date Archive Headers Format</b>- besides the usual archives, there are also headers for archives by dates. In this field, you can set how the title for these pages will be formed;</li><li><b>"Format of titles of archives of authors"</b>- also for each author who writes articles, a separate page with his articles is created on your site. You can also set the header format for this page. This is done in this field;</li><li><b>"Tag Header Format"</b>- for each article, you can set an arbitrary number of tags. And then these tags are displayed in the sidebar or in each article. That is, each tag has its own page. And the title for this page can be set in this field;</li><li><b>Search Page Title Format</b>- this field, I think, does not need a description. CMS WordPress has a built-in search function, which means there is a special page for this. So for this page, you can change the header output format right here;</li><li><b>"Description format"</b> Is the meta Description tag for each article. It is better to leave everything as it is here, so that in the future we can enter our descriptions for each article;</li><li><b>"404 Page Title Format"</b>- this page, as many people know, is shown when some page that the visitor wants to get to is simply not on the site. At this point, you can specify what will be in the title. Also, it is better to change the English text to Russian. For example, change "Nothing found for" to "Nothing found for the query:";</li><li><b>"Format for navigation"</b>- this field can be removed altogether. You can replace the word "Part" with "Part", but this is at your discretion.</li> </ul><ul><li>- if you have already studied and</li><li><b>"SEO for these post types only"</b>- and here we can check the boxes that you need. By default, "Posts" and "Pages" are enabled, which is really enough;</li><li><b>"Enable advanced options"</b>- from the advanced options here is that you can enable custom titles for your posts. But I do not recommend doing this, but it is better to leave it as it is.</li> </ul><p>Now let's move on to the second block <b>"Display settings"</b>:</p><ul><li><b>"SEO for Custom Post Types"</b>- if you have already studied and then you know that Yoast SEO has a special preview window for each article and page. So, it is for this point that this option is responsible in this All in One SEO Pack plugin. This block is present when writing each article in the admin panel;</li><li><b>"Show SEO settings for custom post types"</b>- we also put two ticks: "Posts" and "Pages";</li><li><b>"Show menu in admin panel"</b>- this item is, again, at your discretion. Do you need such an item in the admin panel above each page and post on the site at the top? I have never really liked this admin panel, and I prefer to do everything through the site's control panel. But if you are actively using this admin panel, then you can leave this item;</li><li><b>"Show menu in top bar"</b>- but it is advisable to leave this item, then the menu of this plugin will always be at the top in the control panel of your site. It is very convenient when you constantly go there. Because all plugins, most often, appear exactly at the bottom of the control panel menu.</li> </ul><p>To make it faster, let's analyze, again, two blocks " <b>Webmaster verification</b>" and " <b>Google settings</b>":</p><ul><li><b>"Google Webmaster Tools"</b>- the developers of this plugin decided to make the work more comfortable with the verification of the rights to Google WebMaster. When you register with Google WebMaster, you are offered several options to confirm that this is indeed your site. And one of them is a special code that can be inserted into this field. But more often than not, it's easier to just go into the source code of your theme and insert a meta tag between the blocks. <head< и </head>... If you have not yet registered in the Google WebMaster service, then this item will be useful to you. Below is the corresponding field for Bing;</li><li><b>"Pinterest verification"</b>- a similar situation with this service. But, unfortunately, it is not very popular on the Russian Internet.</li> </ul><ul><li><b>"Google+ Profile"</b>- here we enter the address of your profile on Google+ to confirm the authorship of your site. Previously, the author could be displayed in an extended snippet on the SERP, but that was a long time ago and Google removed this feature;</li><li><b>"Disable Google+ Profile"</b>- at this point you can turn off the output of data with a Google+ profile;</li><li><b>"Display site links in the search box"</b>- in addition to the main issue of your site, you can also display additional links of your site to the most popular pages. Leave this item, then on the search results, your site, with certain requests, will be shown on a larger scale;</li><li><b>"Set Preferred Site Name"</b>- using this item, you can specify in the micro-markup which site name is better to use Google. But, before setting this parameter,. But, I want to note that the data will be output in JSON-LD format;</li><li><b>"Advanced Blame Settings"</b>- if you enable this item, then in the future you can choose on which of the pages you can include the authorship of Google+;</li><li><b>"Google Analytics ID"</b>- well, this item, like the item confirming the rights to Google WebMaster, is made for convenience. That is, you can not "run" into the code and look for a place where to insert the analytics code from Google. And you can only register the identifier of your analytics in this item. But it is more suitable for those who are not very friendly with the code and are afraid to do something wrong.</li> </ul><p>We will also divide the next block "" into 2 parts, because there are a lot of points here:</p><ul><li><b>"Default NOINDEX"</b>- you can initially prohibit indexing, for example, of pages on the site. And then only the records will be indexed. To prohibit indexing anything on the site, just check the corresponding box;</li><li><b>"Default NOFOLLOW"</b>- using this item, you can prevent the search bot from following the links on the page. Usually used in conjunction with the paragraphs above;</li><li><b>"NOODP by default"</b>- this feature is also present in the Yoast SEO plugin. Using this function, you can prevent the description of your site from being taken from the DMOZ catalog. Because it so happens that when adding a site, the moderators themselves write its description, but it is not always the way we wanted it;</li><li><b>"Default NOYDIR"</b>- this item is responsible for the same parameter as the item above, but only for the Yahoo directory. That is, by installing it, we prohibit taking a description from the Yahoo directory for your site;</li><li><b>"Use noindex for headings"</b>- we "tell" the search engines not to index the pages of our site's headings;</li><li><b>"Use noindex for date archives"</b>- similarly to the previous paragraphs, we prohibit search engines from indexing pages with an archive of dates on our website. Can be turned on to exclude duplicates;</li><li><b>"Use noindex for author archives"</b>- by setting this item, we prohibit indexing pages with the authors' archive on your site. Can be turned on to exclude duplicates;</li><li><b>"Use noindex for tag archives"</b>- you can do the same with tags, that is, prohibit pages with tags from indexing. You can set this item if you do not want the pages not to be included in the index of search engines;</li> </ul><p>Now let's move on to the second part of this block. " <b>Indexing settings (noindex)</b>":</p><ul><li><b>"Use noindex for search page"</b>- there is no search page as such. After all, it is generated depending on the user's request, that is, depending on which key phrase he entered. Therefore, we include this item in order to avoid duplication of content on your site;</li><li><b>"Use noindex for 404 page"</b>- we also close the 404 page from indexing including this item;</li><li><b>"Use noindex for paginated pages / posts"</b>- if you divide your articles into several pages (which is a little strange), then you can enable this item to prevent duplication of your content on the site;</li><li><b>"Exclude site from Open Directory Project"</b>- unlike the previous paragraph, where it was possible to exclude only on certain types of posts and pages, here you can include the NOODP meta tag on the entire site. We turn it on and no longer worry about the description being used from the DMOZ directory;</li><li><b>"Exclude site from Yahoo! Directory"</b>- as in the previous paragraph, here you can include the NOYDIR meta tag on the entire site, and not only on certain types of posts.</li> </ul><p>So, the last block on this page " <b>Advanced settings</b>". We will also split it into two parts and consider each of them in more detail.</p> <p>Hello friends.</p> <p>In this article, we will take apart the All in one seo pack (SEO tools) plugin for blog search engine optimization, and set it up correctly.</p> <p>This plugin is constantly updated, the developers add new settings, new functions. Therefore, it is often necessary to update the information about this plugin, which I am doing now.</p> <i> </i> <p>At the moment, information about all settings is more relevant than ever. In addition, from the article you will learn how this plugin can harm the development of your blog. The article is long, since setting up All in one seo pack is not an easy procedure for a beginner. The information is worth exploring.</p> <p>As you can see from the content, the material turned out to be very extensive. I hope he will answer all your questions. If any ambiguities remain, I am always glad to see you in the comments. I will answer all questions and make new materials. Now let's get down to mastering the plugin.</p> <p>An important point. There was an opinion that the plugin has a jamb. This or that, I wrote at the very end of the article. I strongly recommend that you familiarize yourself with this material.</p> <p>You can download the current version of the plugin by clicking on the button below.</p> <p>On the official website, click on the orange button to download the plug-in archive to your computer.</p> <p><br><img src='https://i0.wp.com/kostyakhmelev.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/skachat-plagin.jpg' align="center" width="100%" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p>After downloading the plugin, install it. Install in any way convenient for you (wrote about the methods).</p> <p>Now let's take a look at the importance of this add-on to the WordPress engine.</p> <h2>Why do you need the All in one seo pack plugin?</h2> <p>Pure WordPress does not have the ability to add meta tags to articles (title - title, description - description, keywords - keywords). If we look into the editor of any post or page without using similar SEO plugins, then besides entering the standard title and post content, there is nothing there.</p> <p>This option does not suit us very much, because we need to let the search engines understand what our material is about. In this case, the meta tags mentioned earlier solve this problem.</p> <p>After installing the All in one seo pack plugin or the like, a new plugin block appears in the editor, which allows you to add data to articles.</p> <p><img src='https://i2.wp.com/kostyakhmelev.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/blok-Instrumentyi-SEO-v-redaktore.jpg' align="center" height="783" width="600" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p>This is how the complete plugin block looks like, which is added to the editor after its installation.</p> <p>In the image, I have highlighted the areas for entering a title and description. There should also be a field for entering keywords. But, since I do not use them, I disabled them.</p> <p>An interesting setting in this block is the "Custom canonical URL" field, in which we can enter the main address to the page, if necessary. Thus, indicate to the search engines which address will be the main one for this page and it is it that needs to be indexed, and all other addresses at which this page is available do not need to be flattened.</p> <p>I thought for a long time where to find the use of this function and here it is. It happens that you want to place an article in 2 categories at once, after which it will be available at 2 addresses and this is an obvious duplication of content within the site. To prevent this from happening, we indicate in this field the address of the article of only one heading, and then the second address should not get into the index, which will save you from duplicate pages.</p> <p>But nevertheless, it will be better if the article will be included in only one heading, so as not to create unnecessary headaches for search engines to index the site.</p> <p>In addition, the plugin has very important parameters for configuring the correct indexing of a WordPress site. There are also settings for integrating popular and necessary services with the site.</p> <p>We begin to talk in more detail about all the settings below.</p> <h2>Setting up All in one seo pack step by step</h2> <p>After installing the plugin, a new item appears in the WordPress admin panel called "SEO Tools". Go to the main plugin settings.</p> <p><img src='https://i0.wp.com/kostyakhmelev.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/vnizu.jpg' align="right" height="590" width="330" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p>Let's get to the page with all the settings. Let's go through each block of settings.</p> <p>First, I will list all the settings, and then give an image of how everything was done for me.</p> <h3>basic settings</h3> <ul><li>Thanks for the plugin, I made a donation - we don't check-box. But you can actually donate a certain amount for the development of the plugin;</li> <li>Canonical URLs - we must enable this setting. It assigns a tag to the created pages <i>rel = "canonical"</i>, which shows search engines that this particular page is the main one and only needs to be taken into the index, and other pages should not be taken into account. This item prevents duplicate content from appearing;</li> </ul><ul><li>No Pagination for Canonical URLs - this setting disables pagination of pages with a tag <i>rel = "canonical"</i>... It is better to enable the setting. To understand this parameter in more detail, I recommend that you read the last paragraph of the article and study the entire instructions for this plugin from A to Z;</li> </ul><blockquote><p><i>Pagination - pagination of information. On blogs, this phenomenon is clearly expressed in the form of page navigation.</i></p> </blockquote> <ul><li>We display the title by default - select "Disable", since we will write our own titles;</li> <li>Enable Custom Canonical URLs - as written in the description for this setting, if you enable it, a field will be added for assigning the main address (adding the canonical attribute) to posts. A similar field is available in the plugin block, which is added to the post and page editor. Since this field is available in the editor even when this setting is disabled, it seems that this parameter is responsible for enabling this function in arbitrary post types (media files and other pages that can be added by third-party plugins, such as WPpage);</li> <li>Set Protocol For Canonical URLs - select the protocol for pages with the Canonical attribute, that is, for the main page addresses. I chose the HTTPS protocol option. I recommend that you set the parameter "Auto", since for the https option to work, you need to install the appropriate certificate for the domain. We will consider how to do this later;</li> <li>Use Schema.org Markup - adds markup to the page and structures the data on it. This setting can be enabled, but conflicts can arise if your site already has built-in markup from Schema.org. I have markup, so I don't include this setting;</li> <li>Keep an event log - if we want to track the plugin's work, we can enable this setting. Then the whole process of the plugin will be recorded in a separate file all_in_one_seo_pack.log.</li> </ul><p><br><img src='https://i0.wp.com/kostyakhmelev.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/osnovnyie-nastroyki.jpg' align="center" width="100%" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <h3>Home page settings</h3> <p>At this point, we just need to register the title, description and keywords that describe the site.</p> <ul><li>Home page title - write the name of the site. I wrote it like this: <i>"Personal blog of Konstantin Khmelev about creating websites (blogs), setting them up and promoting them on the Internet"</i>;</li> <li>Description of the main page - write a small description of the site. Write down what your site is about or what the visitor will find on it. Here's my variation: <i>"On this blog you will find a lot of useful information about creating, setting up and promoting sites (blogs) on the Internet"</i>;</li> <li>Key words of the main page - I did not fill in this line, so for frequent use of keys you can get sanctions from search engines;</li> </ul><p>And it has been said for a long time that this meta-tag (keywords) is no longer taken into account by search engines. I prefer to let the search engines make their own choices and figure out the whole situation. In addition, everything will be natural and you will not have to correct the situation later in case of any problems or falling under the filters.</p> <p><br><img src='https://i0.wp.com/kostyakhmelev.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/nastrojki-glavnoj-stranicy.jpg' align="center" width="100%" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <h3>Key settings</h3> <p>This setting is responsible for keywords for posts and pages.</p> <p>Above, I wrote that I do not use keywords. I made this decision in view of several reasons:</p> <ol><li>For the illiterate use of key phrases, you can fall under the sanctions of search engines, since this can be taken into account as manipulation by the site owner;</li> <li>It is necessary to let the search engines figure out the whole situation themselves. To do this, search engines are constantly updating their algorithms, which are becoming smarter and will keep only SOMs (sites for people) in high positions;</li> <li>Well, and as mentioned above, there is an opinion that the keys have not been taken into account for a long time by search engines, and sometimes for their use the situation is aggravated when promoting a resource.</li> </ol><p>Therefore, I turned off the ability to prescribe keywords.</p> <p><br><img src='https://i0.wp.com/kostyakhmelev.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/nastrojki-kljuchej.jpg' align="center" width="100%" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p>After disabling this function, in the reactor for adding pages and records, the field for entering keywords will not be present.</p> <h3>Customizing headers</h3> <p>In this item, the display of headers is configured:</p> <ul><li>records;</li> <li>pages;</li> <li>heading;</li> <li>archives;</li> <li>tags;</li> <li>404 pages;</li> <li>search pages.</li> </ul><p>All settings will not be touched. And here's what needs to be done.</p> <ul><li>Overwrite headers - enable;</li> <li>Capitalized headings - check-box;</li> <li>Headings with uppercase - put a check-box;</li> <li>Format for pages - you need to remove the part of the code that displays the name of the blog. This information in the title is completely unnecessary and does not carry any semantic meaning. You need to remove the part of the code that follows the vertical bar (% blog_title%). We also remove the line;</li> <li>The format for records is similar to the format for pages.</li> </ul><p>You can also change the title for the 404 page. Replace the English phrase <i>"Nothing found for"</i> into Russian <i>"No results found for"</i>.</p> <p>Similarly, in the "Format for navigation" section, change the word <i>"Part"</i> on word <i>"Part".</i></p> <p>See the screenshot below for more details.</p> <p><img src='https://i0.wp.com/kostyakhmelev.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/nastrojki-zagolovkov.jpg' align="center" height="1112" width="585" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <h3>Settings for custom post types</h3> <p>If you use any content formats on your blog other than regular posts and pages, then you can enable this setting. These can be WPPage subscription pages as an option. Then you can write metadata for such pages (subscription, selling).</p> <p>I don't use anything like that. Therefore, the setting for arbitrary post types is disabled for me.</p> <p><br><img src='https://i1.wp.com/kostyakhmelev.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Nastrojki-dlja-proizvolnyh-tipov-zapisej.jpg' align="center" width="100%" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <h3>Appearance settings</h3> <p>In this block, we configure where the fields for entering the title, description and keywords will be displayed. By default, they are displayed in the post and page editor. I believe that it should be so, therefore, we leave the settings in the "Show SEO settings for post types" item.</p> <ul><li>The first item is responsible for displaying the "SEO Tools" menu in the top admin bar on each blog page;</li> </ul><p><br><img src='https://i1.wp.com/kostyakhmelev.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/instrumenty-seo-v-admin-bare.jpg' align="center" width="100%" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <ul><li>The second item is responsible for displaying the "SEO Tools" item at the top of the WordPress admin panel. If enabled, this item will be displayed at the top, if disabled - at the bottom;</li> </ul><p><img src='https://i2.wp.com/kostyakhmelev.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/vnizu.jpg' align="right" height="590" width="330" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p><img src='https://i0.wp.com/kostyakhmelev.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/vverhu.jpg' height="590" width="330" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p>Here, of course, we choose how you like. I am more impressed by the option below.</p> <h3>Settings for Webmaster</h3> <p>When adding your site to the Google and Yandex webmasters panel, you need to confirm ownership of the site. This is usually done by uploading a special file to the root of the site or by adding a special tag to all pages of the site.</p> <p>All of these procedures require technical skills.</p> <p>This paragraph greatly simplifies the verification of ownership of the site. You just need to enter a special verification code in the appropriate fields, after which the rights will be confirmed.</p> <p><br><img src='https://i2.wp.com/kostyakhmelev.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/nastrojki-dlja-vebmastera.jpg' align="center" width="100%" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p>The only moment that I really do not like is the lack of the possibility of verifying rights for Yandex. Let's hope that this shortcoming will be corrected soon.</p> <h3>Google services settings</h3> <p>Also a very useful point. But, perhaps, one of the most difficult in this plugin. Requires some knowledge of the Google search engine services.</p> <p>Despite this, it simplifies the work and saves us from the same work as in the previous paragraph "Settings for Webmasters". Now there is no need in the template files to register links to your profile on the social network Google+, which is necessary to confirm authorship in the Google search engine.</p> <p>It is also possible to connect the site to the Google Analytics statistics tracking system. Now there is no need to place the code in the site files.</p> <p>Below is a screenshot of my settings.</p> <p><img src='https://i0.wp.com/kostyakhmelev.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/nastrojki-servisov-google.jpg' align="center" height="847" width="585" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p>I will return to this point shortly when I write detailed material on the Google Analytics statistics tracking service. I recommend not to skip this article.</p> <h3>Indexing settings (noindex)</h3> <p>There are a lot of pages on WordPress sites that create duplicate content. Such pages must be hidden from indexing and this item helps a lot with this.</p> <p>I will not describe these settings in detail. Let me just say that the last 2 settings should not be active. See the image below.</p> <p><img src='https://i1.wp.com/kostyakhmelev.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/nastrojki-indeksirovanija.jpg' align="center" height="607" width="584" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p>Recently I have disabled the "Use nofollow for paginated pages / posts." This was done so that the search engine robots could go to the articles themselves on the pagination pages. Thus, we facilitate access to the content for the PS robots. In addition, I analyzed popular resources; nowhere are these settings used on pagination pages. From this I made the following conclusions.</p> <h3>Additional settings</h3> <p>At this point, the only thing you need to pay attention to is <b>generated description</b>.</p> <p>We register all data for our materials by hand. Therefore, this setting should be disabled.</p> <p><img src='https://i1.wp.com/kostyakhmelev.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/dopolnitel-nye-nastrojki.jpg' align="center" height="764" width="584" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p>This completes the settings for the All in one seo pack plugin.</p> <p>After all the changes made, be sure to save the settings by clicking on the "Update settings" button.</p> <p><br><img src='https://i0.wp.com/kostyakhmelev.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/obnovit-nastrojki1.jpg' align="center" width="100%" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p>If something is not clear to you from the text version of the article until now, then I provide you with my video tutorial on setting up this plugin. But there may be some differences in the text version and in the video. In the text, I described and showed everything in more detail and more clearly. Watch the video below.</p> <p><span class="Z-xZaW0sydc"></span> After making the settings that are applied to the entire site, I will say a few words about the settings of the "SEO Tools" block that appears in the post and page editor after installing the plugin.</p> <h3>Setting up the "SEO Tools" block in the editor</h3> <p>How this block looks like, I showed at the very beginning of the article. But, just in case, I'll show you here.</p> <p><img src='https://i2.wp.com/kostyakhmelev.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/blok-Instrumentyi-SEO-v-redaktore.jpg' align="center" height="783" width="600" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p>Let's take a quick look at each setting.</p> <ul><li>Preview - at this point we can view the view of the snippet, which is formed depending on the data entered in the "Title" and "Description" fields. In the SERP, the snippet may differ, since search engines can choose any most suitable piece of text for the most accurate description of the article (page);</li> <li>Post title - enter the title of the post, which will be displayed in the search engine results, as well as in the browser tab;</li> <li>Record description - displayed only for search engines. Should appear in the snippet, but not always (see above);</li> <li>Keywords - this field is not visible in the screenshot above, since I disabled it. But by default it is present and it is necessary to write in it the keywords (phrases) by which the page is promoted. The plugin says that it is necessary to register with a comma, but the option also works "through a space";</li> <li>Custom Canonical URL - if it is necessary to indicate its main address to the created page (if it differs from the created one), then enter it in this field. At the beginning of the article, I already wrote why this is needed. Alternatively, it can be useful in a situation if the article falls into 2 categories. Then it is imperative to indicate the main address of the article from any one heading so that the second address does not get into the index and duplicate content does not appear at different addresses;</li> <li>Add NOINDEX argument - if the page contains external links, you can enable this setting and they will all be closed with the noindex tag. Thus, we will close the links from indexing;</li> <li>Add an argument NOFOLLOW - gives a signal to search engine robots not to follow external links;</li> <li>Robots Meta NOODP - enable the option to prevent search engines from using page descriptions from the Open Directory Project (This is an open directory of sites, also known as dmoz);</li> <li>Robots Meta NOYDIR - the same as the previous one only for the Yahoo! dir;</li> <li>Disable SEO - enable this checkbox so that all settings from the "SEO Tools" block for this entry will be disabled.</li> </ul><p>Important note: the settings for adding noindex and nofollow arguments do not completely block links from indexing. Even with these settings, links harm your site. Therefore, links must be closed in other ways. This will be one of the next blog posts. Wait!</p> <p>At this point, I completely finished the process of setting up and describing the plugin, with the exception of the additional modules that it contains. These modules can also be useful for beginners.</p> <p><img src='https://i0.wp.com/kostyakhmelev.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/drugie-moduli-instrumenty-seo.jpg' align="center" height="627" width="510" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p>I don't use them, but they are still quite interesting, since they allow you to do some functions without directly interfering with the files of the site on the hosting. Everything can be done through these modules.</p> <p>In the near future I will definitely add all the necessary information in the most detailed form.</p> <p>Finally, I left the sweetest. As promised, I will briefly describe the hole in this plugin that can harm your blog.</p> <h2>A jamb in the plugin, is it true or not?</h2> <p>I decided to supplement this article with my observations and reasoning about the jamb, which allegedly showed up in the plugin after the release of version 2.0.</p> <blockquote><p>The "jamb" was not discovered by me. I am only now expressing my opinion and my practical observations. Alexander Borisov started all this. <span>Here is his article about this "jamb"</span>.</p> </blockquote> <p>It concerns the not entirely correct operation of the previously considered rel = "canonical" tag.</p> <p>In new versions of the plugin, this tag does not fully finalize its function. The tag is well written on all pages of the blog, but a situation may arise when, due to the incorrect operation of this tag in conjunction with the incorrect configuration of the plugin, completely unnecessary pages may appear in the search engine output.</p> <p>Let's see what is the matter. As an example, I will take this page where you are currently reading this article. Let's go through the source code (ctrl + u) and find the rel = "canonical" tag. We should see a link to our article after this tag. Here's what it shows.</p> <p>Everything is fine here. And now let's add an addition like "/ 111" or any other numbers to the link to this article. That is, at the end of the link we put "/ 111" and go to the same address, only with the added part in the form of a line with numbers. At the exit, we will remain on the same page with exactly the same content. But look at the address of the page. You will see that at the end of the link there is our added part in the form of numbers.</p> <p><img src='https://i2.wp.com/kostyakhmelev.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/canonical-2.jpg' height="68" width="201" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p>It seemed to be nothing, it seemed. The rel = "canonical" tag should indicate on this page that the main page is the one without numbers and that it is necessary to take it into the index, and not this one with numbers. But let's look at the situation as it is.</p> <p>We look at the source code of the page already with the new address and see what our tag is responsible for the canonical URL "s. In theory, we should see the same thing as before. But in fact, we can see the following picture.</p> <p>See what our tag does? He indicates that this page is the main one, although it is not. Moreover, it also shows the address of the previous page with the numbers "/ 110". If somehow such a page gets into the index, then all the others with similar addresses will be picked up. And this is already a very large number of pages with duplicate content.</p> <p>The plugin will assign a tag to such a "non-main" page if the "No Pagination for Canonical URLs" setting is not active in the main settings.</p> <p>But even with this setting turned off, the pages themselves will not be included in the index. I write about this a little below.</p> <p>If we put a checkbox in front of this setting, then on each such page the plugin will always indicate the main page with the main address, which is what we need. Therefore, I will put this setting.</p> <p>If we now look at the source code for the / 111 page, we can see that rel = "canonical" points to the main page without any numbers.</p> <p>With this, I hope, sorted out.</p> <p>You can ask: <i>"But how does such a page (c / 111, etc.) end up in the index, if in fact it does not exist, and we just added some numbers there?"</i>.</p> <p>Honestly, if you do everything carefully and correctly, then such pages will not be included in the index. Such pages are essentially pagination pages, as far as I have been able to find out by experimentation. If you configured the plugin as I described above, then it should add a robots meta tag to such pagination pages, which gives a strict instruction to search engines not to index the page.</p> <p>The last 2 active checkboxes in the plugin's indexing settings are responsible for this.</p> <p><img src='https://i1.wp.com/kostyakhmelev.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/stranicy-paginacii.jpg' align="center" height="139" width="371" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p>This tag can be seen in the source code of the page.</p> <p><br><img src='https://i2.wp.com/kostyakhmelev.ru/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/robots.jpg' align="center" width="100%" loading=lazy loading=lazy></p> <p>Therefore, if you have these 2 settings set, then you can rest assured. Such pages will not be included in the index by themselves. This tag gives a strict ban to search engines.</p> <p>Even if you do not enable the "No Pagination for Canonical URLs" setting, then nothing bad will happen. They will be labeled with a robots.</p> <p>How else can such pages get into the index?</p> <p>Here I see 2 options for events:</p> <ol><li>Your competitors will want to annoy you and will add your pages with such addresses to the index using the Yandex and Google URL add tool. But here is immediately a dubious question: <i>"Will search engines index such a page after adding it through the URL adding tools if they have a robots met-tag?"</i>... So far, I find it difficult to answer this question. But it seems to me that all the same, PS will not index the page, since there is a strict ban on it in the form of a robots tag;</li> <li>Possibly some kind of glitch in the WordPress engine or plugin.</li> </ol><p>So is it worth worrying about this problem and is it a problem?</p> <p>What have we learned earlier? It turned out that the canonical tag does not work quite correctly, if you can call it that. But it also turned out that on pages that can harm us and get into the index as duplicate content, you can put a robots meta tag, which is a strict prohibition from indexing for search engines.</p> <p>Based on this, we can conclude that such pages are not scary to us. Unless our competitors can use URL adding tools to help such pages get into the index. The only question is one: <i>"Will the strict prohibition of the robots meta tag in the video play a role in this case?</i>".</p> <p>I will look for an answer to this question and tell you about everything!</p> <p>Now let's answer one of the main questions in the discussion of this question: <i>"So keep the plugin All in one seo pack?"</i></p> <p>I won't change it yet. And that's why.</p> <p>First, I don't see anything dangerous in his work yet. I can't call this a cant. I can only justify this as a kind of work of the plugin. There are such pages, but they will not be included in the index themselves (see above). Maybe I'm wrong and time will tell. Maybe someone knows what? Write in the comments.</p> <p>Secondly, by enabling the "No Pagination for Canonical URLs" setting, the plugin perfectly specifies the main URL of the page.</p> <p>Thirdly, I analyzed just one well-visited resource (4000 visitors per day), which has the All in one seo pack plugin. It works exactly the same. There are no such pages in the index. And the setting of canonical addresses on it is generally disabled. And the resource is developing steadily.</p> <p>Take a look at the blog ktonanovenkogo.ru. It also has All in one seo pack. A resource with good traffic and indexing is all right.</p> <p>For these reasons, I will not remove this SEO plugin yet. But, the rather large "stuffing" of the plugin with various unnecessary things for me gives reason to think about moving to another lighter analog that works great.</p> <p>If you want to completely play it safe, then you can put a plugin on your blog. All data to articles can be transferred from All in one seo pack with one click and is also easy to set up. The next article will be about him. Wait.</p> <p>These are my arguments and practical observations about this "jamb". What's your opinion?</p> <p>And this is where I end this article. It came out very extensive. Hope you figured it out. If something is not clear, then I am waiting for you in the comments.</p> <p>By the way, write your SEO plugin that you use on your site. After all, there are enough of them. I would like to know your choice.</p> <p>Thanks. See you soon in other materials.</p> <p>Best regards, Konstantin Khmelev.</p> <script>document.write("<img style='display:none;' src='//counter.yadro.ru/hit;artfast_after?t44.1;r"+ escape(document.referrer)+((typeof(screen)=="undefined")?"": ";s"+screen.width+"*"+screen.height+"*"+(screen.colorDepth? screen.colorDepth:screen.pixelDepth))+";u"+escape(document.URL)+";h"+escape(document.title.substring(0,150))+ ";"+Math.random()+ "border='0' width='1' height='1' loading=lazy loading=lazy>");</script> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> </div> <div class="tm_sidebar"> <div class="sidebar_home"> <div class="gsense"> </div> <div class="sidebarwidget"> <ul> <li id="text-3" class="widget widget_text"> <div class="textwidget"> <div class="sidebar-orange">Categories</div> </div> </li> <li id="nav_menu-3" class="widget widget_nav_menu"> <div class="menu-pravoe-menyu-nizhnee-container"> <ul id="menu-pravoe-menyu-nizhnee" class="menu"> <li id="menu-item-" class="menu-item menu-item-type-taxonomy menu-item-object-category menu-item-"><a href="https://zoo-mania.ru/en/category/internet/">Internet</a></li> <li id="menu-item-" class="menu-item menu-item-type-taxonomy menu-item-object-category menu-item-"><a href="https://zoo-mania.ru/en/category/security/">Security</a></li> <li id="menu-item-" class="menu-item menu-item-type-taxonomy menu-item-object-category menu-item-"><a href="https://zoo-mania.ru/en/category/communication/">Communication</a></li> <li id="menu-item-" class="menu-item menu-item-type-taxonomy menu-item-object-category menu-item-"><a href="https://zoo-mania.ru/en/category/antivirus/">Antivirus</a></li> <li id="menu-item-" class="menu-item menu-item-type-taxonomy menu-item-object-category menu-item-"><a href="https://zoo-mania.ru/en/category/graphics/">Graphics</a></li> <li id="menu-item-" class="menu-item menu-item-type-taxonomy menu-item-object-category menu-item-"><a href="https://zoo-mania.ru/en/category/office-programs/">Office programs</a></li> </ul> </div> </li> </ul> </div> <div class="sidebarwidget"> <ul> <li id="text-3" class="widget widget_text"> <div class="textwidget"> <div class="sidebar-orange">Popular</div> </div> </li> <li id="nav_menu-3" class="widget widget_nav_menu"> <div class="menu-pravoe-menyu-nizhnee-container"> <ul id="menu-pravoe-menyu-nizhnee" class="menu"> <li id="menu-item-8272" class="menu-item menu-item-type-taxonomy menu-item-object-category menu-item-8272"><a href="https://zoo-mania.ru/en/viewing/samsung-j-1-mini-diagonal-4-dyuima-samsung-galaxy-j1-mini---tehnicheskie-harakteristiki/">Samsung Galaxy J1 mini -
