Installation and configuration

We attach detailed instructions on installation and configuration WPS Office For example Linux Mint 17 Qiana(based on Ubuntu).

1. Download the WPS Office distribution kit from the community site and install it.

2. Install ttf fonts:

Sudo apt-get install ttf-mscorefonts-installer

3. Most likely, these fonts will not be enough for the job. WPS Office itself, when launched, swears at missing fonts:

You can download the missing fonts here (http://allshrift.ru) or here (http://www.fontpalace.com).

4. Add additional fonts here:

/ usr / share / fonts / microsoft-non-dpkg

5. Updating the cache fontconfig:

Sudo fc-cache -fv

6. Launch WPS Writer, select the language ( Writer -> Tools -> Switch Language). Or press the quick button on the panel on the right.

We are waiting for the translations to be loaded.

7. Now it would be nice to enable Russian spelling checker. Download the Russian dictionary from here (http://wps-community.org/download/dicts/ru_RU.zip). We put the contents of the archive in / opt / kingsoft / wps-office / office6 / dicts... In Writer, go to the tab Review, Spell Check -> Set Language... Choose the one you want:

8. We could be happy here, but when we launch Writer, it persistently offers us a bunch of wonderful online templates:

It looks especially enchanting with a poor connection:

To disable annoying templates, you either need to open the blank document template once, which is located here: /home/%username%/.kingsoft/office6/templates/wps, or change the settings in the file /home/%username%/.config/Kingsoft/Office.conf:

Common \ wpshomeoptions \ StartWithHome = 0 common \ wpshomeoptions \ StartWithBlank = 1

Now, on startup, a blank document opens:

You can switch the interface from the menu "Service" or by the icon in the upper right corner:

Conclusion

In general, this office WPS Office makes a good impression, even rather complex MS Office documents open correctly.

And this is how the version for Android:

O mobile version WPS Office- in our next publications. Do not forget to subscribe to our community page, like and post your feedback in the comments.

After the restart, the meaning of the previously pop-up message became clear:
Now you have to install the Russian spellchecking dictionary. Download the archive.

The archive contains a directory with three files:

The guides for the Russification of WPS Office on various sites contain instructions for adding Russian dictionaries through the terminal commands. But it is probably more convenient and clearer to do this through the file manager. Execute in terminal

Sudo nemo - for the Cinnamon environment

Sudo caja - for the MATE environment

Sudo thunar - for the XFCE environment

And put the ru_RU directory in / opt / kingsoft / wps-office / office6 / dicts

Launch WPS Writer and click on the arrow in the right corner of the button
Go to "Tools - Select language" and set the default to Russian:
