What to make an electrode for a lie detector. How to make a lie detector at home. What are hidden wiring detectors for?

Today we will make a lie detector with our own hands, which measures different reactions that are sent by the body to the human skin in different situations and with different emotions. The coolest thing is that all of these reactions can be seen on the Arduino graph.

Step 1: How It Works

Our skin is an amazing organ. It is a conductor when we touch something, it protects us from disease, it holds all our organs together, but you probably did not realize that the skin changes its electrical conductivity depending on things that affect our mood! This effect is called electrodermal activity (EDA) and you can read more about it on Wikipedia. Simply put, our skin changes its electrical conductivity depending on how we feel.

We will start by connecting the Arduino to the research object, and then connecting the Arduino and the computer with the graphics software. The next steps will show you how to do this.

We need to start asking the subject easy questions, to which we know for sure that he will answer truthfully. For example, "what is your name?", "Where do you live?" - this is how we set the baseline. Then we can start asking questions that the subject might answer with a lie, and if so, then he is likely to be nervous, and we can read this by changing the baseline that we marked earlier.

Step 2: Parts List

We need a microcontroller that will drive three diodes and send data to a computer. In order for the computer to receive data, the microcontroller must have a serial communication chip. This means that we will not be able to use the Arduino Pro Mini or Adafruit Trinket, so when choosing a microcontroller, make sure that it has a serial communication chip (USB communication chip) built into it.

Electronics List:

  • Arduino Nano (link)
  • Green LED (link)
  • Red LED (link)
  • Orange LED (link)
  • 10k resistor (link)
  • Wires

List of materials:

  • Cardboard
  • Foil
  • Velcro
  • Hot glue

Tool list:

  • Hot glue gun
  • Stationery knife

Step 3: Wiring

The wiring is very simple, we will start connecting everything in this order:

  • Connect a long piece of wire to analog pin 0 on the Arduino
  • Connect the 2K resistor to ground and to the extended pin 0 of the Arduino
  • Connect a long piece of cable to the 5 volt pin of the Arduino
  • Connect the anode (long leg) of the green LED to pin 2 and the cathode (short leg) to ground
  • Connect the anode of the orange diode to pin 3 of the Arduino, and the cathode to ground
  • Connect the anode of the red diode to pin 4, and the cathode to ground

This is all the wiring related to Arduino. Now we need to somehow secure the sensor wires to the fingers - we'll come back to this later.

Step 4: software and code

To create a polygraph with our own hands, we will use the latest software - this is the IDE Arduino. Last update provided users with new possibilities for perceiving data received from Arduino. Instead of a textual representation from the serial port, information can be displayed as graphs in real time. This will help us determine when the data will change its dynamics (when someone is lying).

To open the graph builder, open Arduino and go to the tools menu, there you will find the desired tool.

Now download the attached code and upload it to the Arduino board.

Files

Step 5: create finger clips

Now that the foundation of the project is complete, we can start complementing it. Let's start by creating finger clips - this will make the device more usable by creating a secure connection between fingers and wires. Glue the foil to the outside of the Velcro (you need to glue to both parts: both the "hooked" and the "curly"). Now wrap it around your finger until it creates a tight ring (see photos). Then secure the bare end of the wire from pin 0 to the foil. Do the same with the 5V pin. Make sure to create a reliable connection.

Step 6: create the case

Show 3 more images

The plan is to create a small compartment in which the pads for the fingers will be folded and making 3 holes from which the LEDs will look out. The case can be made of cardboard and, if you want the same case as mine, then do the following:

  • Cut out two rectangles 15 * 3cm
  • Cut one rectangle 15 * 5cm
  • Three rectangles 5 * 3 cm (in the middle of one of them, make a hole for USB)
  • One rectangle 9 * 5cm
  • One rectangle 6 * 5cm

Rectangle 5 * 15 is the base. Two 15 * 3 pieces and two 5 * 3 pieces are glued to the sides of the base. Next, glue the third piece 5 * 3 to the base at a distance of 6 cm from the edge (closer to the middle - see the photo). Now you should have a rectangle divided into two parts - one 6 cm long and the other 9 cm. We will put the electronics in the 6 cm long part, and put the finger pads in the other part.

Further in a piece of cardboard 6 * 5 cm, cut three holes according to the size of the diodes and glue it to the 6 cm side (it will be the lid). Finally, we need to tape the short side of the 9 * 5cm rectangle to the remaining uncovered part of the box (this piece of cardboard will act as a lid that opens up and down, giving us access to the finger pads).

Step 7: putting it all together

In the end, we need to put the lie detector together and secure all the electronics in the case. Start by gluing the Arduino and all the wires in the short section of the case. Pass the long wires into the second half of the case. Glue three LEDs to the holes and start testing. If everything is done correctly, then you will have a portable lie detector on the Arduino. But I want to warn you that this system is not very accurate, as in fact most of these detectors have other sensors in addition, such as a heart rate sensor, etc.

One of the most popular methods for determining a person's honesty, the desire to hide information or involvement in any events is the use of a polygraph, called a lie detector in everyday life. The proposal to test on such a device makes you nervous even when there are no reasons for this, and think about how to deceive a lie detector. This is because polygraph testing is an interrogation, if we talk about the essence. Each person has personal secrets that he would not want to share.

Is it possible to trick a lie detector

There is no single answer to the question of how non-specialists can deceive a lie detector. According to the reviews of the people serving the device, the program has perfect sensitivity and is able to detect any slightest desire to lie. This is due to the fact that our subconscious mind keeps a trace of events that took place in the past, so no matter what you try to think about, the subconscious mind will itself give out a reaction. Lying causes a kind of conflict between the consciousness trying to control the situation and the subconscious, which the lie detector recognizes.

Special services workers who undergo special training can deceive a polygraph. There is an opinion that not only agents, but also certain categories of people are capable of outwitting a lie detector: pathological liars who themselves believe in their lies, and actors. Lawyers who have to deal with a polygraph believe that rumors about him are an advertisement for the apparatus and a kind of psychological preparation of the subjects for the procedure, and the result of passing the test largely depends on the level of training of the specialist who reads the indicators.

Where can I take the test and the cost of the service

In almost every city there are companies offering polygraph testing. For example, in St. Petersburg it is the "Laboratory of Truth". This service is not provided free of charge. Its cost depends on the reason for applying and varies from 4 to 5 thousand rubles: investigation of the theft - 5,000 rubles, check upon employment - 4,000 rubles. Muscovites can order the service at the Center for Applied Psychophysiology.

Depending on the reason for the appeal, the price changes, ranging from 3 to 6 thousand rubles. The most expensive research is a private problem. For residents of other cities, the site Detector-online.ru offers online lie detector service. In addition, there are several free apps that are installed on the phone. With their help, the owners of the gadget can take the test on their own.

Ways to cheat a lie detector

There are several very diverse, sometimes naive methods of protection against this apparatus, described in the literature for specialists working with polygraphs. Among them, such as rubbing the palms of the hands, armpits with antiperspirants, the use of 5 aspirin tablets before the test. Real practice proves the low efficiency of such methods. In addition to them, there are also ways to deceive a polygraph, which are usually divided into three types:

  • Psychological - ways of concentrating on other situations (solving problems in the mind, reading poetry),
  • Pharmacological - the use of sleeping pills, psychotropic, aphrodisiac drugs before the test,
  • Mechanical - attempts to distract from the procedure by inflicting unpleasant sensations on oneself (biting the tongue, squeezing the sphincter).

What questions are asked during verification

Lie detector testing lasts from two to three hours with short five-minute breaks. During this time, the printer will be able to ask about a hundred questions. They are repeated periodically, which allows you to find out the exact information about the subject. The text includes questions that clarify the presence of negative or illegal experiences: did the subject steal when the subject, took and takes drugs, did he commit minor violations (whether he crossed the road in the wrong place).

In some cases, the printer is interested in personal life: has there been a family affair? Overly frank and intimate interview questions are not asked. In addition, if testing with a lie detector is carried out at the time of recruitment, then they ask about the attitude towards the management in general, towards others, towards a particular company, towards the observance of trade secrets. Before tricky questions, printers offer to talk about the existing equipment without the participation of equipment. negative experience.

How to pass a polygraph without problems when applying for a job

Testing an employee applying for a job using a lie detector boils down to finding out his lifestyle, attitude to his professional duties, and the ability to meet the requirements of the team. First of all, you should not lie during testing, because the employer perceives a lie as proof of dishonesty. In fact, the employer is more interested not in the fact of your past mistakes, but in your attitude towards them. How can a test subject trick a lie detector?

  1. Do not take any medications, alcohol or drugs before the procedure. This step will be seen as an attempt to hide the truth. The specialist will definitely note this in the protocol of the examination on the detector.
  2. Sleep well.
  3. Use the oxymoron method, deliberately using conflicting answers.
  4. In the case of using incorrect, incomprehensible or affecting your interests, views, beliefs, questions, you have the right to refuse to answer them or you can ask to reformulate them in the process of going through a polygraph test.
  5. Don't try to hide the truth, answer sincerely.
  6. The results of testing on the detector in many companies, with the exception of government agencies, are of a recommendatory nature. The last word rests with the leader. Therefore, do not lose your composure and confidence in the successful outcome of the case.

How to influence the test results

A few tips from printers help to influence the results of a lie detector test. Among them is breath control. After the problematic question, the subjects make an "exhalation of relief." In addition, with the help of breathing, it is possible to control pressure, heart rate. To learn this, they use breathing exercises, yoga. A fool game will help you bypass the polygraph.

In this case, you should be extremely lighthearted during testing on the detector. The lie detector, due to frequent illogical answers, will get confused and will not be able to determine the correct calibration. So that you are not suspected of deliberately strange behavior, which will only cause a negative attitude towards your person, you must adhere to the "golden mean" rule. Acting skills, thanks to which the subject tries on the role of another person, will help to cope with the lie detector.

A prolonged lack of sleep will help you bypass the polygraph, deceive him, hide your true thoughts. At this time, the body is in a trance state, the reactions to questions will be insignificant, which will show the result. But the most important recommendation is not to exaggerate the role of the polygraph, take the procedure on the detector as something ordinary, nothing insignificant in your life, and certainly not fateful.

Video: how to cheat a polygraph

The detector is designed to record changes in pressure, heart rate in order to find out the veracity of the respondent's answers. For this, sensors are attached to the human body, providing the transfer of changes in physiological parameters to the computer. How this is done is demonstrated by the specialists of the NLP Institute. In preparation for the examination procedure, the polygraph examiner and his test subject reveal some of the secrets of the lie detector, which you can get to know if you watch the video from YouTube:

A polygraph (lie detector) is a software and hardware complex that makes it possible to interrogate the subject in real time and simultaneously record changes in his physiological parameters. Based on the analysis of the information received, it is possible to draw conclusions about whether the subject is telling a lie. The reliability of such data depends on the type of personality and can fluctuate within 70-98%.

There is something to hide

How to trick a lie detector? This question is usually asked by people who want to withhold certain information. As long as this device exists, so many people are trying to find options to outwit it. Let's consider the most common ones.

Alcohol to help

In an effort to deceive the lie detector, you can try to minimize the variations in the analyzed physiological parameters. A small amount of an alcoholic beverage will help with this. Drink should be on the eve of the check. As a result - a significant decrease in sensitivity, inhibition and distortion of reactions. Thanks to this, it will be difficult to draw unambiguous conclusions about the information obtained with the help of a polygraph.

We go to the pharmacy

How to trick a lie detector? Some medications will come to the rescue. In this case, it is very important to take into account the fact that the body's reaction to unknown agents can be unpredictable. For example, some psychotropic substances in case of an overdose provoke inappropriate behavior, which, of course, is immediately noticed by others.

We do without "chemistry"

Is it possible to cheat a polygraph without taking any alcohol or medications? If you do not want to affect the body with tranquilizers, try not to sleep for two days. The temporary exclusion of this natural physiological process leads to the development of a state similar to trance. In this case, the reaction to all the questions asked will remain equally insignificant. However, it is important to take into account the fact that your condition will be clearly visible to an experienced polygraph examiner.

The specialist analyzes the magnitude of reactions to special control questions, the purpose of which the subject does not know. If the information received causes doubts in the polygraph examiner, he will stop the interview and postpone it to another day. However, such a delay is sometimes very beneficial to the subject.

Emotions - into a fist

Let's consider a different approach. How to trick a lie detector without changing your usual lifestyle? To this end, you should learn to suppress your own emotions. In this case, no stimulus will elicit a response. The main recommendation is to answer the questions asked automatically, without attaching serious importance to them. To do this, you should concentrate, for example, on a drawing of a wall in front of your eyes, or on any other object. The main thing is that it is neutral. Alternatively, immerse yourself in an event that happened in the past and live it again. To achieve a positive result, it is important to develop the ability to concentrate through constant long-term training.

Desired instead of real

In an effort to achieve non-responsiveness per se, consider important point: a specialist can detect deception using special control questions... Better to learn not to hold back and wishful thinking. A polygraph test will give the desired result if you show feigned reactions to insignificant stimuli. So, when answering the right question think of something that makes you angry, or try to multiply two three-digit numbers in your mind. Another option is to cause pain. It triggers physiological responses similar to psychological stress. To do this, there are various tricks like pressing your tongue to the hard palate or your toes to the floor. However, even inexperienced polygraph examiners know all these tricks and are able to uncover deception. In addition, several video cameras are often directed at the test person, which close-up capture any changes in facial expression and involuntary movements.

We lay down to the bottom

Another option is to use the so-called psychological anchor. Experienced people can relax or tense up at the right time. Uncovering deception is always difficult, since mental devices are not easy to detect. If you cast such a saving "anchor" at the right time, it is likely that you will be able to answer the questions asked on the polygraph, the way you need it.

Competent opinion

According to most experts, it is impossible to deceive a lie detector. They note that the specified device reads information received from the body. These are motor and voice activity, heart rate and respiration, electrical impulsiveness of the skin, the process of filling the capillaries with blood. All of the above processes are controlled by consciousness, but not by subconsciousness. The latter acts as a repository of memories of what happened.

According to polygraph examiners, you can think of anything, but the lie detector will communicate with your body, which will not deceive it. An attempt to lie will instantly be reflected on the screen.

At the slightest smell of alcohol, the test will be postponed. What about taking all kinds of psychotropic drugs? The questions on the polygraph also relate to this. If you lie that you have not influenced the body in any way, the survey will also be postponed.

In an effort to induce pain, to simulate a reaction, some put a button in their boot. However, it will not be difficult for any experienced operator to identify a suspicious pattern. If he reveals your trick, he will ask you to take off your shoes.

The polygraph examiners themselves note that such tricks only make them laugh. Needless to say, they have known all possible tricks for a long time? However, foreign intelligence officers on missions overseas are trained in how to trick a lie detector.

Manufacturer's certification

There are companies in Russia that produce polygraphs and perform tests on these devices. One of them is Polygraph Test. The official website of the firm claims that all attempts to deceive the lie detector are in vain. With almost one hundred percent probability, this device will reveal the tendency to distort information. In addition, the polygraph is equipped with additional accessories that allow you to record all the tricks of the interviewed person.

Alternative point of view

Some believe that assurances of the high efficiency of the lie detector are a kind of advertisement for the device and an integral part of the psychological preparation of the subjects. So, any polygraph examiner, before starting a survey, inspires a person that it is impossible to deceive a "smart" device. In a relaxed, friendly tone, he announces that the lie detector will reveal all attempts to hide the truth. You should not blame a specialist for conducting such a psychological game, because this is part of his job, which is prescribed in the job description.

In addition, this kind of throwing dust in the eyes has deeper socio-psychological reasons. Many centuries ago it was known that the awe and fear of the crowd for something mysterious is one of the factors in maintaining power. Currently, little has changed.

From the very beginning, it is important to try to overcome the fear of such an "all-knowing" device as a polygraph (lie detector). The suggestion that it's 100% effective shouldn't work for you. Remember that this device does not know anything about you personally and is unable to read your thoughts. It records the state only at the time of verification. More precisely, those physiological reactions that develop when answering this or that question. Based on the data obtained, the computer provides a tentative estimate, which is then analyzed by a specialist.

Can you cheat a polygraph? Yes, like any other car. Even the notorious lie detector can get confused when recording the reactions of a pathological liar. Everything is explained simply: if a person is really sure that he is telling the truth, then no device will record the opposite.

Another group of those who can cope with the polygraph are professional actors who are fluent in the Stanislavsky system and have the ability to 100% get used to the image of a certain hero. This, of course, requires lengthy training.

Social psychopaths can also cheat a “smart” device, since they are simply unable to adequately perceive social norms. Accordingly, questions about actions that go beyond the law and morality will not elicit the expected response. For the same reason, it is not recommended for the elderly and minors to undergo a lie detector test.

Although science does not stand still, the actual effectiveness of the lie detector is still far from the declared one. Confirmation of this is a large number of mistakes, as a result of which people were sent to places of imprisonment or were even sentenced to death. As practical and laboratory studies show, the accuracy of the information provided by the polygraph is at the level of seventy percent, no more. In addition, it has been proven that it is quite possible to teach a person to successfully counteract a polygraph, although it is quite difficult.

Controversial issue

Is it morally and ethically acceptable to test an individual with a lie detector? After all, each of us has a personal world, the invasion of which causes a natural desire to defend ourselves. Our personal motives, secret desires and interests do not need to be known to outsiders. Let's turn to the Anglo-American legal system. It has a separate category called privacy. It means the right to privacy and the inadmissibility of intrusion into the intimate sphere of an individual.

Of course, in some situations, the use of a polygraph is more than justified, for example, when investigating such serious crimes as terrorist acts, murder, rape, etc. If a person is falsely accused of something, then a lie detector test sometimes becomes the only way prove the innocence of the suspect.

It so happens that the use of a polygraph is nothing more than an insult to a person, psychological violence and a gross violation of his personal space. For example, the now popular employee due diligence initiated by the boss, etc.

At the request of customers, some polygraph examiners agree to go in direct violation of professional standards and elementary ethical norms. Such dishonest specialists are literally turning the subjects inside out. They ask questions about everything from political views to intimate experiences. This can be especially often observed during hiring and routine screening of employees (the so-called screening).

Personal questions can make up a large part of the questionnaire. The only way to keep strangers out of your personal space is to try to deceive the lie detector, because refusing to do such a humiliating test can lead to dismissal.

Conclusion

The polygraph in forensic science is one of the main tools for investigating serious crimes. Thanks to this device, a certain psychological pressure can be exerted on the offender. However, there is no definite answer to the question of whether it is possible to deceive a lie detector.

Back in the 19th century, scientists proved that deception and denial of guilt, cause a number of physiological changes in the human condition. The first thing that the scientists noticed was increased pressure, sweat discharge on the skin, dry mouth, heavy breaths in and out. On the basis of these phenomena, scientists, psychologists and physiologists developed the polygraph. Today's lie detectors make it possible to determine whether a person answered the truth in more than 90% of cases.

The polygraph includes several measuring devices with recording devices connected to them:

  • a sensor on an elastic bracelet, which is fixed above the elbow, and gives readings about, changes in heart rate and pressure
  • a transducer that is positioned flush with the chest to transfer the rhythm of breathing to paper
  • 2 sensors will be placed on the hands to record changes in the resistance of the subject's skin.

Testing takes place in the following way: a person is asked a series of questions, give answers, to them he must yes or no. To begin with, they ask easy questions that are not related to the incident, in order to see what a normal reaction a person has, then ask questions that relate directly to the incident. And immediately there is a deviation from the norm. This is depicted in Figure 1.

For a more accurate test of the subject, there is a method with any cards. The test taker is shown 10 cards, of which he must remember only one. Then they are shuffled, and he must answer ten times "no". It turns out that one time he will still lie. This answer will be recorded and used in further polling.

In the United States, more than twenty national institutions (this also includes the police, FBI,) have had more than 500 lie detectors since 1965. Most private institutions, such as a bank, regularly test their employees for a polygraph. The companies that manufacture lie detectors conduct training courses for subordinates who then work with the lie detector.

How to make a lie detector at home

If you decide to try yourself in the role of a polygraph examiner, but for now you have no desire to buy a lie detector for several thousand dollars. You can buy it from us, our company is engaged in the sale of not only new but also second-hand poliraffes at a price several times cheaper than new ones. You can also try to create it at home. However, basic knowledge of radio electronics is required.

Figure 2 shows a simplified electrical schematic diagram. However, it has a high sensitivity, which means that with a weak excitement of the test subject, the arrow of the device should deviate.

Figure 3 shows two electrodes, they look like two loops, and are attached to the wrist or arm. When attached to the wrist, considerable sensitivity will be provided, but there will also be interference.

The sensitivity of the lie detector shown in Figure 2 is changed by the resistor R1. A recorder can be connected to the output terminals. All resistors that are in the circuit only serve to protect the transistors from overloads. In the end, you will get a good device with which you can do very funny experiments.

DIY polygraph, scheme two

The principle of operation of this circuit is as follows, the device amplifies the infra low frequencies, the gain is 399-1199. What exactly the device will do depends on the type of output controller that will capture the signal at the output. We will use it as a "lie detector".

As described above, thought processes are consistent with physiological changes in the state. When a person is worried, the heart rate increases, the frequency of inhalation and exhalation changes noticeably. It is very clearly possible to register how the resistance of the subject's skin changes, after several questions about what he wanted to hide, the resistance changes by 3-5%. For this we need two sensors, which will be put on the fingers of one hand of the person being tested. This is shown in figure 2.

After we fixed the sensors on our fingers and turned on the device, we need to wait about 10 seconds for the transients to end. The test taker should place his hands comfortably for him, and not move them. Next, we ask questions to the examiner, and it is necessary not to ask quickly, to take a break for up to 4 seconds, and after the indicator lights have gone out. In some cases, the LEDs flash after each question, then symbolizes the excitement of the person. You need to give him time to calm down. As an example of test questions, you can use the above method with maps. Figure three shows a single sided PCB for a homemade lie detector. The device includes radioelements:

  • food from the crown;
  • capacitors C1, C5, C6 are ceramic, and the rest are K50-6;
  • transistor KT315; and ET361;
  • resistors SP3-1B;
  • two LEDs AL307.

The idea of a polygraph originated many years ago. The impetus for its development was the research of the Italian physiologist A. Mosso. Such techniques allowed for the first time in 1902 to prove the innocence of the defendant. Today, the polygraph is used to check applicants for a position, so you can often hear the question, how to cheat a polygraph?

What is a polygraph?

A polygraph is a sensor unit that includes a set of sensors connected to computer device... This is an inseparable complex of the apparatus and the psychologist. There are analog and digital types of devices on sale. The first of them have long occupied the niche of rare goods, and the second are popularly used when interrogating criminals, candidates for a position or for clarification.

How does the polygraph work, what does it react to?

Polygraph is a psychophysiological study. The device consists of:

  • sensors that monitor the data of the psychophysiological state of the subject's body;
  • A computer that records and processes data from sensors;
  • an output device in the form of an oscilloscope, a printer, a monitor screen for displaying information received by the sensors on a diagram.

The detector detects and records microstresses in the subject. The sensors are attached to such places on the human body, where it is possible to clearly identify the psychophysical state of the body, changes:

  • breathing in the chest area;
  • breathing in the abdominal cavity;
  • electrical conductivity of the skin;
  • blood filling in peripheral vessels;
  • heart rate.

After the device is installed, the subject is asked questions. First, simple questions are asked to test the equipment. These can be questions about the name, surname, place of birth, marital status. The answer is 15-20 seconds, which allows you to think before answering. Once the polygraph examiner begins to understand how the device responds to "honest" answers, he starts asking basic questions by surprise. During the procedure, the state of the body is recorded before the answer, during its pronunciation and after.

Why is a polygraph dangerous?

The polygraph is a medical and biological device capable of recording the psychophysiological surge and the reaction of the human body. In order to successfully pass a lie detector, you must not only perfectly master your emotions, but also control your heart rate and blood vessels. That is why the polygraph examiner, before conducting the test, is always interested in whether the subject has health contraindications.

The device closely interacts with the subconscious: emotions, memories, stressful experiences. This is the main danger of the device. Although it does not physically affect a person in any way, it can provoke the appearance of:

  • tantrums;
  • heart attack;
  • nervous seizure;
  • epilepsy;
  • miscarriage;
  • asthmatic attack.

Who is not allowed to have a polygraph for health reasons?

According to the existing law on which diseases it is impossible to undergo a polygraph, citizens who suffer from the following have the right to refuse to undergo a lie detector:

  • bronchial asthma;
  • colds with severe cough and runny nose;
  • cardiovascular disease;
  • hypertension;
  • strong alcoholic intoxication;
  • drug addiction;
  • mental disorders;
  • damage to the central nervous system;
  • mental or physical exhaustion;
  • pain syndrome;
  • pregnancy (the fetus also experiences fear, excitement, which is immediately recorded by the device);
  • epileptic seizures.

What shouldn't be done in front of a polygraph?

The upcoming polygraph test causes stress in many people, fear, even if the person is going to speak exclusively the truth. This condition occurs due to ignorance of the principles of the device, fear of falling for a lie. This is why many people ask how to prepare for a lie detector test, and what not to do in front of a polygraph:

  1. Do not try to predict the test questions, this can cause self-condemnation, unnecessary anxiety.
  2. Relax, thanks to good health, physiological reactions will be as accurate as possible.
  3. Don't take your check-in day as something special. Start your morning with a jog and a cup of coffee.
  4. Do not take any medication unless prescribed by your doctor, otherwise antidepressants will skew your test results.

Can you cheat a polygraph?

Is it possible to cheat a polygraph? Yes, it is possible. Finding out how to pass a polygraph without problems, this can be done, for example, with the help of simple nibbling of the tongue and the induced tension in the legs, mental counting of sheep. Each of these actions will cause physiological reactions that will be immediately recorded by the device. Mental counting will prevent the subject from fully comprehending the question asked, which will lead to undefined results.

History remembers the case of the unfairly convicted Fairy Floyd. After unsuccessfully passing a polygraph test, he was convicted of a murder that he did not commit, and only a few years later the truth surfaced. Floyd decided to take revenge on the offenders and became a real expert in polygraph testing. He taught the prisoners, who confessed to him in the crime, how to cheat the polygraph, as a result of which most of the criminals managed to pass the lie detector, they were found innocent.

Ways to cheat a polygraph

There are several ways to trick a lie detector:

  1. Reducing the sensitivity of sensor analyzers. To do this, drink some alcohol the day before the check. On the day of the test, your reactions will be somewhat inhibited, and the polygraph will not be able to give an accurate result.
  2. Medicines. Before using them, it is important to know and understand well the reaction of your body to "chemistry". So, if the subject first took psychotropic substances, he, from habit, may begin to behave inappropriately, which the polygraph examiner will immediately notice.
  3. Non-chemical way... To do this, you need to stay awake for several days. But it is worth remembering that an experienced polygraph examiner will always notice such a condition.
  4. Controlling emotions... It is important not only to be able to give the necessary reaction to a question, but also to control facial expressions.
  5. Physiological reactions... For example, some, in an attempt to counteract the polygraph, have thought of putting a button in the boot under the big toe. When pressed, the pain triggers a fake reaction.
