Lenovo vibe x2 main camera. Lenovo Vibe X2 description, specifications, user reviews. Lenovo vibe X2, a powerful android smartphone. The main camera of a mobile device is usually located on the back of the body and is used for photo and video shooting

Lenovo managed to become the first computer manufacturer in the world, and now they are actively expanding into the smartphone market. The manufacturer is pinning its particular hopes on the Vibe X2. Here, a high-resolution screen, a powerful processor, a flashy design - in general, the bet is justified. Let's take a closer look at what this smartphone has to offer us.

Equipment

The box from the device is a separate conversation. It is small, multi-layered and somewhat resembles a casket. On the side, you can find a sticking out ribbon. He pulled on it, took out the first box with the apparatus beautifully laid there. He pulled on the second - took out the accessories.

By the way, in addition to the usual MicroUSB cable and a 5V and 1.5A power supply, there is a protective film, as well as a transparent glossy case ala Crystal Case. In general, the manufacturer thought about the user.

Design

I didn't call the Vibe X2 a sandwich smartphone for nothing. At its core, it has a multi-layer construction and it looks really interesting, I would even say stylish. For some, this may be a disappointment, but the smartphone is entirely made of plastic. There is no metal here at all. Nevertheless, when you take the device in hand, you forget about this moment. Plastic here does not shout about savings, as is often the case with other manufacturers. This is especially the case for one Korean electronics giant. You know what I mean.

Here the colors are bright and the surface is pleasant to the touch. In addition, the use of polymeric materials has led to a reduction in weight. Indeed, for a five-inch smartphone, 120 grams is very little. The device is light, but the lack of weight does not spoil the impression.

From the end you can see that three component parts are used, which are connected into one. They are all flush-mounted. However, the glass panel on the front side is slightly smaller in area, and therefore looks like a separate entity.

Above the screen is a mesh of the earpiece, a front camera, proximity and light sensors. Where can we go without them?

Below are the control buttons for the device. They are sensory and are illuminated in the dark by moonlight. The plus is that they do not take up display space. The downside lies in their strange shape. There is no familiar house or other designations. People who are accustomed to some other Android will have to get used to it for the first few days, defining by typing what each of the keys means.

On the right side, there are beautifully polished power and volume buttons.

The left side is occupied only by the SIM-card tray. By the way, it is made of metal and looks pretty massive.

Above is an audio jack for 3.5 mm headphones, and below is a tiny microphone hole and a MicroUSB port. There is no infrared sensor, no NFC module, no support for memory cards and OTG protocol either. Not rich equipment, but it could be better.

The back cover shimmers a little with a mother-of-pearl color. It looks very elegant. The brand name flaunts in the center, and closer to the top edge is the camera, single-section flash and a hole for the rear microphone.

Below is the speaker grid. The design is not the most successful, since the sound is decently muffled on a flat surface when the smartphone is lying face down. Nearby there is a contact area for connecting a special case with a built-in battery.

Now about ergonomics. You can type messages, flip through browser pages - in most cases one hand is enough for this. Dimensions allow.

By the way, it will be interesting to compare the smartphone with its main competitors by these parameters:

Length Width Thickness The weight
Lenovo Vibe X2

140,2

68,6

7,27

Samsung Galaxy Alpha

132,4

65,5

Sony Xperia Z3 Compact

64,9

Huawei Ascend P7
Apple iPhone 5S

123,8

In terms of design and usability, the following conclusion can be drawn. Lenovo Vibe X2 is very comfortable in everyday use, has a high-quality case, even if made of plastic, as well as a nice design. In our area with long winters, such bright colors will look very appropriate. By the way, the following colors are available for sale:

Smartphone display

The front side has a Gorilla Glass panel (generation not specified) with an oleophobic coating.

The 5-inch screen plays a decisive role in favor of usability, and the Full HD resolution is the best fit for such a diagonal.

The pixel density per square inch is 441 ppi. This is more than enough.

Installation of QuadHD for such dimensions is not justified. Individual pixels cannot be seen with the naked eye.

The photo below compares the displays of the Vibe X2 (above) with the iPhone 5S:

The color rendition is good, thanks to the use of an IPS-matrix. When tilted, the situation remains the same - no fading occurs, however, in comparison with the apple device, a slight departure to greenish shades is visible.

Dissatisfied with the standard gamut, they can choose other display parameters from the preset profiles or play with the slider, moving it from warmer tones to colder ones.

The menu contains the ClearMotion function, the essence of which is that the chipset increases the video frame rate up to 60 while watching a video, thereby ensuring its smooth playback. Indeed, the video on the smartphone screen looks very lively due to this feature!

Specifications Lenovo Vibe X2:

  • GPS / GLONASS

The manufacturer decided to install a solution from MediaTek under the MT6595M index. Let us dwell on this organ in more detail.

Firstly, this chip is unique in that all cores can work simultaneously: 4 of them are ARM Cortex-A7, operate at 1.7 GHz, and 4 others are ARM Cortex-A17, in this case involved at 2.0 GHz. The way the processor works varies depending on the task.

Of course, the power consumption of the battery has not been forgotten either. If necessary, the system reduces the maximum frequency in favor of a reasonable use of battery resources and no overheating. That is why the Chinese smartphone has a limited frequency version of the processor on board. This is indicated by the letter “M” in the model index.

Responsible for graphics processes is the PowerVR G6200MP4 video chip, the frequency of which is again reduced to 400 MHz instead of the maximum possible 600. Again, saving battery resources.

By the way, the same processor is responsible for LTE support, not a separate chip. Cat.4 is used, but this is quite enough for our today's realities.

The only frustrating thing is the lack of NFC and the ability to connect flash drives in USB-Host mode.

Yes, despite the fact that others information resources OTG support was announced, but this is still not here. So, barring a few little things specifications Lenovo Vibe X2 impress with their innovativeness. The product from MediaTek, I am sure, will provide the smartphone with a long life among the current devices for the next couple of years.

Performance

Let's take a look at the test results.

In general, the brains of the phone provide it with a very serious performance, at the level of the flagships of this, and even the beginning of the next year.

We have already talked about the processor and other components. Their resources are sufficient for the vast majority of tasks, including heavy toys. Now let's talk about the behavior of the system as a whole.

For the most part, Lenovo Launcher is fine-tuned. Desktops and animations flutter spectacularly. However, some plugging occurs periodically. Either the Back button will not work right away, the screen unlock icon will stop responding to pressing, and the multitasking mode no, no, but hesitate for a couple of seconds - the user will definitely have to face this. It is not annoying, but it catches your eye regularly.

As for launching applications, there are no problems here. Everything is loaded quickly, I did not notice errors and random application crashes.

Front-camera

The front photo module has 5 megapixels, and the frames have a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. The quality of the photos is very good.

Various methods of taking pictures are available: shooting by touch, voice, timer, wave of the hand or blink of an eye. The last two do not work the first time. Maybe I'm just blinking somehow unobvious. I am at a loss to answer.

Of course, there is no LED flash on the front panel, as for example in the Sony Xperia C3, but there is a function to fill the viewfinder with pink or yellow. In the dark, it's still better than nothing.

Camera Lenovo Vibe X2

The main photomodule is capable of creating frames with a resolution of 4096 x 2304 pixels - that's 13 megapixels. The most interesting thing is that there is no possibility of choosing a specific resolution in the settings. The user can choose only the aspect ratio of the frame: 16: 9, 4: 3 or one to one.

Perhaps this is the right approach. Ask yourself, how often do you prefer, for example, a 1280 x 720 pixel photo to a higher resolution? Personally, I never. I always want the best quality available.

The shots are good. Color rendition, sharpness, blurring of the background - everything is very decent.

The camera, of course, is not the best possible, but for the price of the device it is very good. Usually, manufacturers save money at this point, Lenovo did not go for it.

The only negative point is shooting at night. Here all the flaws and nuances come out.

Autofocus often misses the mark and shots are blurry. In general, night photography is the phone's weak point.

As an example, I have shown below a composite shot with different ISO settings. The conditions were as follows: a dark room, a smartphone fixed on a tripod, the subject of the photo was standing still and smiling.

Videos can be recorded in Full HD resolution. The recording is smooth, without jerking. However, if the ambient light is insufficient, the video looks sad. Let's see an example.

Battery

The smartphone has a 2300 mAh lithium polymer battery. With a moderate use of all the device's functions: two hours of surfing via Wi-Fi and LTE, half an hour of using other programs, taking a dozen photos - the device is not able to survive even into the night.

With a fully charged battery in the morning, in the evening there will most likely be no more than 10 percent. Opening times for X2 is a sore point.

The problem lies in the higher resolution display and the powerful processor. The capacity of the battery (there were no records) is not enough for the operation of these main energy eaters for a period of more than a day. Of course, if the device is not touched at all, then it can live for 4 days, or maybe more, but such a smartphone is usually not bought for this.

If you actively play modern 3D toys, the device will sit down in a matter of hours. Obviously, you shouldn't go far from the outlet if you like to play.

In the settings, you can activate the energy saving profile. In this case, the device turns into a dialer with an alarm function. The battery savings are not colossal, but still.

Sound

The complete headset is only useful for answering calls. The sound quality through it will suit only inexperienced users. For everyone else, it makes sense to use their usual headphones.

There is no proprietary software for playing audio files. You can download something to your liking from the app store or stay on Google's Play Music.

I tested the quality of audio playback through this utility and with the help of my good old Koss Porta Pro. Sound quality is comparable to the Apple iPhone 5S, both in frequency and volume.

Overview of software features

All applications are right on the desktops. They are installed and removed directly from here. Of course, you can use the software manager, but in most cases it is not needed.

Desktops are fully customizable. You can choose different themes, set your wallpaper, create folders - everything is as always.

I would like to express special thanks to the developers for the themes. The ability to install the skin you like right out of the box is not an unnecessary way to customize the appearance for the user. The plus is that all these actions are safe, rather than installing and running third-party themes that may be incompatible with the system. It's a shame that the choice is limited to only the six default skins available.

I sincerely do not like it when a manufacturer tries to impose on the user the use of some programs. Previously, this was a problem with almost all laptops, but now the trend is spreading to mobile devices.

So, by default, a "badly needed" antivirus called Security is installed and launched.

It successfully cuts suspicious activity, including various notifications from Viber and others the applications you need... Remove this program by standard means impossible. I stopped all processes associated with this antivirus and stopped fighting the utility.

Usually Google is guilty of this behavior, which requires manufacturers to place their brand store in the most conspicuous place. I am convinced that developers also do not need to connect to these games! There is a fine line where overdoing it means losing the loyalty of your fans.

Back to our topic. Additional features are provided that simplify communication with the phone. So, you can wake up the screen or send it to sleep mode by double-tapping. It's comfortable!

In addition, right from sleep mode, double-tap on the "Home" icon, you can take a picture. A useful trick when you need to take a photo very quickly and there is no time for the usual launch of the photo application.

But the gesture of launching a photo application, when you just need to pick up the phone in a horizontal orientation, did not work for me. Maybe I was doing something wrong. C

In addition, sound profiles are configured depending on the time of day. For example, from 9 in the morning the vibration is activated, and from 19:00 the full-fledged volume of calls is already taking place. Turning on Wi-Fi can be linked to a location, and so on. This, of course, is not a breakthrough setting, but it is good that the manufacturer cares so much about its consumers.

Should you buy the Lenovo Vibe X2?

At the moment they are asking for a smartphone the price at 16,990 19,990 rubles. This is a very interesting offer! And here's what a potential buyer can get for this money:

  • great bright design
  • powerful and modern filling
  • high-quality Full HD display
  • good camera

However, you will have to come to terms with the low level of smartphone autonomy and the braking system in places.

At the expense of the latter, I am most likely finding fault. Small interface brakes are not a serious drawback. There are not many of them, and the frequency of firmware updates gives hope for a complete optimization of the software in the near future. But a weak battery is really a nuance that must be taken into account when buying.

However, I think the Lenovo Vibe X2 is a good buy. Few competitors can offer so many high-quality components in one device, and even for that kind of money. Against the background of all the advantages of the device, one day of battery life is something with which it is quite possible to live. Just hurry up, the cost of a smartphone may change very soon.

At IFA 2014, Lenovo rolled out an unusual smartphone Vibe X2, the multilayer body of which was made in a gradient color palette. At the same time, the device turned out to be not only thin, but also quite light. Who would like this "puff", decided during its tasting Vesti.Hitek.

The design of smartphones, as a rule, does not please with variety. Most of them get monobloc type housings made of plastic and / or metal, in some cases supplemented with exotic materials such as, for example, bamboo or leather. You can literally count on fingers the innovations that have affected the boring classic design of the devices over the past few years. All the more attention deserve Lenovo's efforts to create smartphones that are competitive not only in performance and price, but also attract with their appearance. Thus, the original, multi-layered and bright design distinguishes the new Vibe X2, which, in a sense, continues the glorious traditions of the "dandy" -flagman. Recall that it is in the Vibe series that Lenovo collects powerful and sophisticated smartphones.

Design, ergonomics

In the new smartphone, they decided to abandon the streamlined shapes of last year's model, which were replaced by slightly smoothed right angles of a regular parallelepiped ("brick", in a simple way).

But, of course, the main "chip" of the Vibe X2 has become a multi-layered design - three thin color gradient panels are combined into a single monolith with a dark layer of the screen with protective glass... A gradient here means a harmonious change from one color of a layer to another. Wherein, rear panel It can be painted white, red, gold or dark gray. Generally speaking, the Vibe X2 was the first smartphone in the world to receive such an unusually layered design.

Instead of textured polycarbonate "like metal", as in now, according to unofficial information, however, a magnesium alloy is used for the case (although, to be honest, it looks a lot like an ordinary matte plastic). One way or another, the Vibe X2 turned out to be slightly lighter than its predecessor - 120 g versus 121 g. At the same time, while retaining the 5-inch display, the device shrank in size in terms of (140.2x68.6 mm versus 144x74 mm), but a little "got better" (7.27 mm versus 6.9 mm). Most likely, the loss of slimness is still a price to pay for a multi-layered design.

The front side of the smartphone is completely covered with a protective glass, in the upper part of which they assembled a "speech" speaker, a front camera, light and proximity sensors, and a charging / notification indicator.

Under the display are dedicated touch keys ("Menu", "Home" and "Back") with backlight. Without the latter, with the screen off, the front side of the Vibe X2 is just Malevich's black rectangle. There are no logos or other identification marks on it.

On the right edge (on the middle layer) there is an on / off button and a volume rocker,

and on the left is a closed slot with a tray for a microSIM card. For his lock, a special key is included in the kit with a smartphone, which, however, can be easily replaced with a thin paper clip. The comparatively large size of the tray is explained by the fact that there is space reserved for the second, already nanoSIM-card, which is mandatory in the Asian version of the device (X2-TO).

The bottom end of the case is occupied by a microUSB connector and a hole for a "spoken" microphone,

and the top is just a 3.5mm audio-out jack for the corresponding headset or headphones.

The holes for the lens of the main camera, LED flash and an additional microphone (noise canceling systems) were placed at the top of the rear panel, which is decorated with the Lenovo logo.

In the lower part there is a place for a "multimedia" speaker grill and a 3-pin group for connecting Vibe Xtension branded accessories (more on them below). By the way, the kit with the smartphone includes a protective film for the screen and a transparent plastic bumper for the back panel.

So, the Vibe X2 manufacturer did not offend the appearance. Maybe the slightly angular body of the novelty is not as pleasant in the hand as the streamlined last year's, but this is a purely individual feeling. And it is quite comfortable to operate the device with one hand.

Screen, camera, sound

The new smartphone received a 5-inch screen on an IPS-matrix with a Full HD resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels), while the pixel density per inch is 441 ppi.

The display is built with no air gap technology, so the wide viewing angles don't disappoint. The image is pretty clear, with decent color reproduction and good rendering of small details.

The stock of brightness is enough even for work in bright ambient light (including sunlight). Its level can be set manually, or you can rely on the readings of the light sensor, according to which it is automatically adjusted. In addition, in the settings you can set the high brightness mode, not forgetting that it is associated with high power consumption. With prolonged use of the device, the so-called adaptive mode is recommended, which, according to the manufacturer, provides eye protection. A comfortable color balance is easy to choose on your own in a custom mode, where the temperature of the tone and its saturation are individually adjusted. For smooth video playback, the ClearMotion option is provided in the screen settings.

The multitouch technology allows you to process up to ten simultaneous clicks, which is confirmed by the results of the AntTuTu Tester and MultiTouch Test programs. The inclusion of the corresponding option, which increases the sensitivity of the touch layer of the screen, allows you to work with your smartphone with gloves.

The Vibe X2 uses a photo module for the main camera with a 13-megapixel BSI matrix, f / 2.2 aperture, autofocus and LED flash. The resolution of the images is 4096x2304 pixels (9.4 MP) with an aspect ratio of 16: 9, as well as 4160x3120 pixels (13 MP) and 3120x3120 pixels (9.7 MP) with a frame ratio of 4: 3 and 1: 1, respectively. The front camera, designed mainly for selfies and video calls, received a photo module with a 5-megapixel matrix, but without autofocus. The resolution of the "self" is as follows - 1920x1920 pixels (1: 1), 2560x1920 pixels (4: 3) and 2560x1440 pixels (16: 9), respectively.

The Camera application launches directly from the lock screen. The interface of this program is quite simple and intuitive. In the settings, you can choose one of three modes - "Panorama", "Special effects" and "Normal shooting". In the latter case, several preset scenes are offered, including "Portrait", "Sunset", "Beach", etc. Manual adjustment of contrast, saturation, sharpness and exposure is available. In addition, the user selects the ISO value (100-1600) and the white balance ("incandescent", "sunlight", etc.). A separate icon is highlighted to enable HDR mode. The volume rocker can be easily assigned for shooting or image scaling (up to 4x).

For "cross shots" from the front camera, you can not only preliminarily improve the complexion, but also choose the most convenient shutter release mode: by timer, touch, gesture, voice and even blinking. Both cameras of the smartphone can record videos in Full HD quality (resolution 1920x1080 pixels, 16: 9) with a frame rate of 30 fps. At the same time, all content is saved in MP4 container files (AVC - video, AAC - sound). For the main camera, the inclusion of electronic image stabilization is provided.

Although the sound of the built-in speaker is loud, it is rather "dry" and harsh. This quality is quite enough for watching movies, but it is better to listen to music using at least the included audio headset. By the way, it is also useful as an antenna for the built-in FM tuner. The Vibe X2's acoustic performance is significantly improved by a dedicated 8.3mm Vibe Xtension Hi-Fi accessory (sold separately) that attaches to the back of your smartphone. Acoustic system JBL, which works up to 5 hours without recharging, in comparison with the built-in speaker guarantees not only an increase in sound volume, but also an improvement in its quality.

Filling, performance

Vibe X2 was one of the first smartphones to receive the latest 8-core MediaTek MT6595M processor (less powerful version of MT6595) with ARM architecture big.LITTLE GTS. On a single die, four powerful Cortex-A15 cores (2.0 GHz) work in tandem with four energy efficient Cortex-A7 cores (1.5 GHz).

Heterogeneous multi-processing, which MediaTek calls True8Core, allows all eight cores to be used simultaneously. Graphics processing is handled by the PowerVR 6200 (450 MHz) Rogue family accelerator. Volume random access memory smartphone is 2 GB, which is enough for almost any task.

Not finding mutual understanding with Vibe X2, synthetic tests AnTuTu 5.2.0 for some reason refused to verify a pretty good result in 41,739 "virtual parrots".

But when measuring the "horsepower" of the processor on the Vellamo Metal benchmark, as well as on multi-core tests (Vellamo Multicore), the new product from Lenovo turned out to be an absolute favorite without any misunderstanding.

With variable settings of High Performance and High Quality (performance at the expense of quality and vice versa) on the Epic Citadel visual test, the average frame rate differed only in the decimal place and amounted to 53.8 and 53.1 fps, respectively. But when changing the setting to Ultra High Quality, this parameter decreased by almost 1.8 times (to 30.1 fps).

Generally speaking, the Vibe X2 can compete on an equal footing with modern flagships in performance. The smartphone easily copes with almost all tasks, without fear of "heavy" games. It was not for nothing that it was immediately installed and offered to try such famous hits as, for example, Asphalt 8, Real Football 2014 and "Spider-Man".

Of the 32 GB of declared internal memory, only about 26.2 GB is available, and 25.7 GB is free. Unfortunately, the expansion of memory in this smartphone, as in its predecessor, is not provided either microSD cards, nor by connecting external flash drives (USB-OTG). This is perhaps the most significant drawback of this device.

Of course, among wireless communications, a smartphone has Wi-Fi and Bluetooth that are mandatory today. In addition, the device works in Russian cellular networks fourth generation 4G (LTE FDD, Band 7 and 20). And to determine the location and navigation, it is proposed to use GPS and GLONASS satellites with A-GPS support.

A non-removable lithium-polymer battery with a capacity of 2,300 mAh was placed in a layered case Vibe X2, the capacity of which is clearly not enough for the existing filling. Note that, for example, another 5-inch smartphone with a Full HD screen resolution and also equipped with an 8-core processor received a 3,100 mAh battery. To somehow improve the situation with the power supply of the Vibe X2, the Vibe Xtension Battery accessory is offered for it, which is an additional battery for another 2,300 mAh. This battery is attached to the body of the smartphone, while its thickness is 5.1 mm.

On battery tests AnTuTu Tester 2.2, the new smartphone earned 5,745 points. For Vibe X2, the manufacturer claims the talk time for 2G networks is up to 22 hours, and for 3G / 4G networks - up to 11.5 hours. Our set of MP4 and Full HD videos ran continuously at full brightness for just over 3.5 hours.

In the Power Manager settings section, you can use emergency mode, reducing the functionality of your smartphone to voice calls and SMS messages. In addition, it is proposed to save battery power there by enabling options that reduce the brightness of the screen backlight and / or the performance of the graphics accelerator.

Software

The Vibe X2 smartphone runs Android 4.4.2 (KitKat) operating system with a proprietary Vibe UI shell, where there is no separate program menu, and the icons of all installed applications, folders and widgets are located on desktops. As in the device, tapping the "Build number" line several times can activate the "For Developers" menu, but, alas, the item for switching to the standard Android interface is no longer there.

The shell interface allows you to refresh themes, lock screens, desktop wallpapers, and to change the latter, it is enough to make a gesture that resembles turning a page from the left or right corner of the display. The settings of the notification panel are conveniently configured. But the most interesting "chips" are presented in the "Special" settings tab.

So, if you enable the "Double tap" option, then after a double tap on the screen, the smartphone either wakes up or goes into sleep mode. By the way, you can turn on the display backlight with the volume rocker using the appropriate settings item ("On with the volume buttons"). And here is the activation " High-speed shot"allows you to take an" instant "photo with a double tap on the" Home "button when the screen is off. Since this touch button is practically invisible without illumination, you should navigate by the approximate location of its location. The taken picture will appear on the screen with icons for deleting and / or moving to the Camera application.

Using the "Smart Menu" on any desktop, you can call a pop-up menu containing icons for performing certain actions or calling services / applications, including "Calculator", "Search", "Voice search", "Alarm", "Camera "," Close ", etc. In this case, the menu is called either by a special button with adjustable transparency, or by touching a previously "calibrated" finger.

With the help of "Smart Scripts", it is easy to configure the launch of various applications or services according to a predetermined schedule or when connecting to a selected point Wi-Fi access(binds in advance). But using the appropriate options, you can, for example, increase the ringtone volume by putting your smartphone in your pocket, and vice versa, decrease the sound by taking the device in your hand.

Purchase, conclusions

Among its 8-core "classmates" Lenovo Vibe X2 looks quite worthy. With a starting cost of 14,990 rubles, in particular, it falls into the price niche between Alcatel OneTouch Idol + (12,990 rubles) and (16,990 rubles). Recall that all these smartphones, among other things, received 5-inch screens with Full HD-resolution (1920 × 1080 pixels). In terms of the amount of RAM, it stands out among them (2 GB versus 2 GB versus 3 GB), but the smallest built-in storage carries the same smartphone on board (32 GB versus 32 GB versus 16 GB). True, it only knows how to expand it with microSD / HC / XC memory cards. The lightest and thinnest of all turned out to be the Lenovo Vibe X2 (120 g versus 125 g versus 135 g) and (7.27 mm versus 7.9 mm versus 7.5 mm), respectively. All devices received 13-megapixel main cameras, while, due to the unpretentious front camera, the Alcatel OneTouch Idol + will be the least preferred for selfie lovers (5 MP versus 2 MP versus 5 MP). But the battery capacities were distributed as follows - 2,300 mAh versus 2,500 mAh versus 3,100 mAh.

Thus, the key advantages of the Lenovo Vibe X2 over its competitors include its stylish and fresh design, as well as its low thickness and weight. But the main disadvantage of this smartphone is the small capacity of the lithium polymer battery. As already noted, such a flaw is "cured" by an additional accessory Vibe Xtension Battery, but then the superiority in thickness and weight will have to be forgotten. Nevertheless, the "multi-layered appearance" sets the device apart from the mass of other, not too expressive, devices. This will certainly appeal to users who prefer originality in everything.

Summary of the review Lenovo smartphone Vibe X2

Pros:

  • Stylish layered design

Appearance - it is unusual and very pleasant for me. Lightweight, very lightweight. Although it costs android 4.4, the interface worked out by the manufacturer suits me perfectly, everything is at hand, everything can be changed. LTE because of him, in general, started the whole fuss. And also Buns !!! Buns in the form of a film and a cover (bumper) included. Well, the price, so to speak, was cut off from the old ones.

Great smart for the price, stylish, powerful. I am glad to have a cover and a film in the kit, you don't have to break your head, how to protect it. The shell of the android is very good, I switched from the iPhone without losses) Everything is easily customizable for yourself.

The camera seems to be 13, but it would be nice to finish it programmatically. I don't really like the automatic detection of the region of the callers, it detects incorrectly, but it cannot be turned off. Although not critical, it is still an inconvenience. Also, a jamb with numbers in calls, it is not clear by what principle in calls it sometimes deletes +7 from the number, and when a new call is made, they say that the number is dialed incorrectly, you have to look for a contact in the book again and call from there.

Short battery life, long charging time, dim notification light, backlit display of hardware buttons

    2 years ago 0

Camera - solved by installation third-party programs delivering true-to-life image quality.
Battery - well, there's nothing you can do about it, you have to pay for the subtlety of the phone, but for me the operating time has been much improved by the utility that turns off the 3G data transfer function in the background and removes the factory security after receiving the root rights. The effect in power consumption is really high and the phone is now really enough for a day.

    1. Camera (because of it I put 4 *): maybe my hands are crooked, but the photos are always blurry (I never got a clear photo). The quality of the photo in the dark is even worse (if there is something white in the photo, it completely takes over the flash). Before that, there was HTC with 8 megapixels, the photos were much better (even at night with a flash), although they were also not perfect.
    2. The phone has a built-in feature that identifies by phone number and shows on the screen the region to which you are calling or from which you are being called. So, for example, the phone defines the Kaluga region as Chelyabinsk. Correctly identifies only Moscow and the Moscow region, as well as if the call to landline phone(everything is clear here, according to the city code). But you can just ignore this.
    3. A couple of times

Lenovo began its journey in the smartphone market with the release of models in which the focus was on accessibility. Today, having already become a prominent player, Lenovo is beginning to explore new opportunities to expand its share, gradually adding more expensive models to the smartphone portfolio. Lenovo Vibe X2 came to our review, in which the company tried to highlight not so much due to the characteristics, but with the help of an unusual design. Let's see if Lenovo has managed to create a smartphone that can be interesting not only in price and characteristics, but also in appearance.

Equipment

The smartphone comes in a box made in several colors, and even she tells us that inside we are waiting for a not quite simple phone. In order to open the box there is a special loop, pulling on which opens access to the upper compartment.

It houses the device itself, paper documentation, a clip for opening the SIM card slot, a bumper made of transparent plastic and a protective film for the screen. The lower compartment houses a vacuum headset, a microUSB cable and a 1.5 A power supply unit. As you can see, the kit is more than good.

Appearance and usability

The dimensions of the body of the smartphone cannot be called small, since it is equipped with a 5-inch screen. The dimensions of the device are 140.2x68.6x7.27 mm, and the weight is only 120 grams.

The main feature of the smartphone is its multi-layer body. Let's start with her. When looking at the sidewall in any color of the Vibe X2, a gradient consisting of three colors (not counting the dark display frame) is clearly visible. This is what makes the appearance of the device unusual. It's worth noting that these are truly separate layers, not a painted one-piece plastic insert.

A gold color version came to our review, but it is worth remembering that there are two more - red and white.

Otherwise, everything is familiar - the front side is covered with protective glass. In the upper part there is an earpiece, proximity and lighting sensors, a 5MP front camera lens and a missed event LED. Below are backlit hardware touch keys.

On the right side there is a volume and power button, and on the left is a slot for a SIM-card in microSIM format. At the top is a 3.5mm audio jack, while at the bottom is a microphone and microUSB jack.

On the back there is a 13 megapixel main camera lens with flash, an additional microphone, manufacturer's logo, a multimedia speaker and contacts for accessories.

The accessories include a removable battery that doubles the capacity and adds only 5.1 mm to the thickness and a two-channel Hi-Fi speaker JBL, which in turn increases the thickness by 8.3 mm, and connects to a smartphone via Bluetooth.

If we talk about the quality of workmanship, then in this regard, the smartphone shows itself very well, not least because of the non-separable body. The only thing I didn't like was that the mechanical keys are loose. A smartphone came to us after several colleagues in the shop and this is very noticeable.

The screen, despite the use of protective glass, is already covered with small scratches, and the back side also does not look the same as on the new device, so for those who like to keep the appearance of the device, you should use the complete screen protector and a transparent case.

The location of the mechanical keys is very convenient. Everything is located where you expect to find it. Rather sharp corners affect usability, but this is all a matter of habit. After a few days, you don't notice any discomfort at all.

Operating system and shell

The smartphone runs Android 4.4 paired with Lenovo Launcher v6. The appearance of the shell is already well known to us from the previous devices of the company, which have visited us on the test. Let's just say that the device works very smartly, while the shell has many settings and interesting functions that can satisfy any user.

Hardware platform

The Lenovo Vibe X2 is powered by a MediaTek MT6595m octa-core processor, which consists of four ARM Cortex-A17 cores running at 2.0 GHz and four ARM Cortex-A7 cores running at 1.5 GHz. As a result, we get a typical solution based on the ARM big.LITTLE technology. It should be noted that the “m” index at the end of the processor name indicates that this is the weakest configuration of the MT6595 processor, which is distinguished by understated frequencies. The video adapter is PowerVR 6200 operating at 450 MHz. The amount of RAM is 2 GB, of which about 1.1 GB is available during normal use. The built-in memory is 32 GB, but the user remains about 26 GB and all of it is available for installing applications.

The competitor to this processor is Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 (8974AC). I agree that there is much more confidence in Qualcomm's processors, but the benchmark results and real impressions of a device with a MediaTek MT6595 processor indicate that there is no reason for mistrust.

The performance of the device is more than enough for the smooth operation of the interface and launching demanding games. For example, the well-known game Real Racing 3 runs at maximum settings without dropping fps. The rest of the games are also easy to start, but it is worth considering that with prolonged use of the smartphone under high loads, its body heats up.

Wi-Fi and GPS work seamlessly. Data transfer occurs as quickly as possible, and the speed of searching for satellites is no longer questionable. The quality of the voice speaker is not the best. At maximum volume, the sound becomes harsh and squeaky. But the sound quality of the multimedia speaker is quite good, but everything is spoiled by its location on the back side. If you put your smartphone on a table, the speaker is completely blocked, which greatly muffles the sound, making it easy to miss a call. The vibration quality is good, but you shouldn't rely on it alone. Lovers of listening to music with headphones will appreciate the sound, because it is really good.

We could not check the support of video codecs by the built-in player using AnTuTu Video Tester, so we used the old technique. As a result, we can conclude that the phone can easily cope with all popular video codecs.

Autonomy

The built-in battery capacity is only 2300 mAh. Despite this, with moderate use, it can last for one day with data transfer and automatic brightness on. If we still restrict ourselves to the basic capabilities, then you can count on two days of battery life with 4 hours active screen and always-on data transmission. If this is not enough, then there is "Emergency mode", in which only calls and SMS messages are available. Naturally, using your smartphone to the maximum - to play heavy games and watch videos, then get ready to charge the device in the evening.

Display

The smartphone is equipped with a 5-inch IPS screen with Full HD resolution. There is an oleophobic coating, so fingerprints are easily erased. The pixel density is 441 ppi.

In sunny weather, the software options for increasing the brightness and contrast are great. Thanks to them, the information on the screen remains visible even in direct sunlight. The automatic brightness control sensor behaves adequately, smoothly adjusting the brightness when it is really necessary, while not overestimating or underestimating it.

One of the features of the smartphone is the advanced screen settings. In addition to standard mode there is also an adaptive mode, a high brightness mode, a customizable and an advanced mode outdoors. In the custom mode, you can adjust the hue and saturation.

The results of screen measurements showed the following: the maximum screen brightness is 373 cd / m² in normal mode and 564 cd / m² in high brightness mode, the minimum value is 5.3 cd / m² in normal mode and 13.7 cd / m² in the mode. increased brightness, display contrast is 1: 792 in normal mode. As you can see from the results, it is not surprising that even in sunny weather, the information on the display is easy to see.

The screen calibration check shows us that the display has a significantly larger color space than sRGB. Green and red are shifted towards warmer hues. The color temperature graph really pleased with the minimum deviation from the reference value. This is extremely rare. But the gamma curve did not work out at all. The chart shows a significant jump.

The result is very good, I would even say the correct display. It has incorporated both the correct temperature and high brightness values. For those who like to read at night, the screen will also not seem bright.

Cameras

The smartphone is equipped with two cameras - a 5 megapixel front camera and a 13 megapixel main camera. The video recording capabilities are quite wide - the main camera writes in Full HD resolution, and the front one - HD. If the frontal is quite regular camera with a fixed focal length, which is useful for lovers of selfies or for communicating via Skype, then the main one is much more interesting. There are manual adjustments for contrast, saturation, sharpness, exposure and others.

The quality of the photos themselves is not the best, but good. In general, the detailing is even throughout the frame, noise reduction works correctly. Even at night, the shots are good. However, you can see for yourself.

Outcomes

Lenovo VIBE X2 is a smartphone that can stand out with its unusual appearance. Among its advantages, it is worth highlighting a high-quality and lightweight body, productive hardware, an excellent screen and a good camera. But among the shortcomings - not well thought out location of the multimedia speaker and modest battery life. But don't think that everything is that simple. At a cost of 5999 UAH, it has a lot of competitors. Among them are both last year's flagships, which have not lost their attractiveness, and new devices. And here the choice for the buyer will truly become very difficult, but even among all this diversity, the hero of the review is not lost precisely thanks to appearance.

A large number of modern smartphone manufacturers are trying to draw attention to their devices through a kind of "arms race", which is expressed in an increase in display size, number of processor cores, camera resolution and other important parameters. Therefore, sometimes it turns out that the smartphone has received quite interesting technical characteristics, but from the outside it does not stand out in anything special against the background of competitors - all the same unsightly candy bar, of which there are a lot on the market. All this is well understood by Lenovo, which knows how to create not only interesting gadgets in terms of price / performance ratio, but can surprise a potential buyer with an original appearance. In this regard, Lenovo VIBE models stand out pleasantly, which have absorbed advanced technical characteristics and an interesting design. A striking example of this is the hero of our next review -

This model has received an original and rather sophisticated design using quality materials of construction. All this is wonderfully complemented by a 5-inch Full HD IPS-display, a high-performance MediaTek MT6595M processor, a 13 megapixel main camera and a number of other equally interesting features, which we will consider in detail below. Delivery and packaging

The novelty comes in a relatively compact box made of thick cardboard. The design is dominated by pale gray shades in combination with a specific pattern and a minimum level of information content. Structurally, it resembles a kind of drawer with pull-out trays, made in the same multi-layer color scheme as the device itself. Depending on the color of the smartphone, the packaging changes its palette. On top of this design there is a dust jacket with the logo of the device line and the main characteristics of the smartphone. Thus, the packaging of Lenovo VIBE X2 looks quite original and pleasant.

The set includes the following accessories:

  • user guide;
  • warranty card;
  • charger 5 W (5V, 1A);
  • micro-USB↔USB cable;
  • transparent plastic case;
  • protective film on the screen;
  • a clip for the SIM card tray;
  • a headset with headphones of a vacuum design.

Overall, the Lenovo Vibe X2 comes with a generous package. There is everything you need not only to fully work with the device, but also to protect it from external negative influences.

Separately, it should be noted that Lenovo offers two interesting accessories for this model: Battery Xtension and Hi-Fi Xtension. The first one is a removable accumulator battery, which allows you to double the autonomy of the novelty with a slight thickening of the case (by 5.1 mm). The second accessory will appeal to music lovers. It is a Hi-Fi JBL speaker (Bluetooth connection), which, when mounted, increase the thickness of the smartphone by 8.3 mm and can act as a stand.

Appearance, arrangement of elements

If you only look at front panel smartphone, it seems that we are faced with an ordinary strict rectangle with rounded corners. But upon closer inspection of Lenovo VIBE X2, you will notice an unusual multi-layer edging that resembles a kind of rainbow (especially in a bright execution), a cut of a mineral rock or a sheet cake with smooth gradients. The main tone is set by the color of the rear panel, which can be white, gold, red or dark gray.

There are only three such separate multi-colored layers, and the fourth is always black (a panel with a screen and protective glass). In addition, it is somewhat narrower and thinner than the others. In practice, such a solution looks very interesting and extraordinary, which nicely distinguishes the novelty against the background of its monophonic competitors. In addition, due to its small thickness (7.27 mm) and weight (120 g), the device looks rather slender.

The front side of the smartphone (without any inscriptions and logos) is reserved for the display, which is covered with a strong protective glass. Along the contour, it has barely noticeable sides, which slightly raise the screen over a flat surface. The bezels around the display are 3 mm wide on the sides and 15 mm at the top and bottom.

Above the display are located: an earpiece, proximity and lighting sensors, a peephole of the front camera and an event indicator (the control point is present in the settings). The latter, when there are calls or notifications, flashes green, during charging - red, and when the battery is charged - lights up green. Under the display there are three usual touch control keys: "Menu", "Home" and "Back". They are equipped with unobtrusive illumination (you can turn it off or set the operating time in the settings).

The plastic edging is made of separate layers (in our case - white, silver and gray). They have slightly different levels, which can be felt even tactilely. The workmanship is quite good, but there are slight gaps between the layers, which can collect dirt and dust.

At the top, in splendid isolation, there is only a universal audio jack (mini-jack 3.5 mm). The bottom edge is reserved for the micro-USB connector and the hole for the spoken microphone.

The right edge of the Lenovo VIBE X2 case houses the usual controls: the Power / Lock key and the volume rocker, which simulate metal with a thin concentric notch. The left side (closer to the top end) shelters a metal tray for a Micro SIM-card, which can be opened slightly with a supplied paper clip. It should be noted that for the Asian market there is a version of the device with two SIM-cards (article "X2-TO").

The non-separable back side is made of a rather practical matte plastic, which actively resists the appearance of fingerprints and small scratches. In the upper part there is the main camera lens (framed in a chrome edging flush with the body) with a single-section flash (the Flashlight application is present) and an additional microphone.

Below is the silvery Lenovo logo. In the lower left corner there is a wide perforated area for sound output from the multimedia speaker, next to it are contacts for connecting accessories.

Thanks to the non-separable body, the novelty offers remarkable build quality and excellent structural rigidity. There is no backlash or unnecessary sounds with moderate attempts at twisting and pressure. There were no streaks or other artifacts on the display either. The materials used give hope for a long service life.

Once again, the complete transparent plastic bumper should be noted, which successfully performs its protective functions and does not hide main feature smartphone design - multi-layered design.

In general, Lenovo VIBE X2 is characterized by a distinctive and rather sophisticated appearance, combined with comfortable ergonomics, which leaves a positive impression of acquaintance. Due to its relatively compact dimensions (140.2 x 68.6 mm), the device fits well in the average palm, and also absolutely does not burden the pockets of pants or jacket. The controls (with a clear and moderately tight stroke) are in good places and are easily found blindly. The proprietary advantages have not disappeared anywhere: waking up the smartphone using the "Volume" key or locking and waking up with a double tap in the free zone of the screen, which greatly simplifies the life of the user.

Display

The Lenovo Vibe X2 smartphone is equipped with an IPS sensor matrix protected by an ultra-strong tempered Corning Gorilla Glass 3. There is no air gap between the glass and the sensor (OGS technology is used), which positively affects the image quality and maximum viewing angles, but increases the cost of repair (if necessary the entire display unit will have to be replaced). In the presence of a good anti-glare filter and an excellent oleophobic (grease-repellent) coating. Thanks to this, a rather comfortable and easy sliding of fingers is provided and the rate of accumulation of fingerprints is reduced, and those that appear are easily removed with a fiber or a regular napkin. In addition, to protect the glass, you can use a complete film, which the manufacturer prudently took care of.

The resolution of the 5-inch screen is 1920 x 1080 (Full HD), which, in our opinion, is the optimal indicator for such a diagonal. At the same time, the pixel density is 440 ppi, which is quite enough for displaying very smooth fonts and obtaining a highly detailed image in general. Even with a strong desire, individual pixels are unlikely to be seen.

The screen is characterized by wide angles view with minimal color deviation when viewed diagonally. The image boasts natural colors with the correct level of saturation and sufficient contrast to produce a truly lifelike picture. The brightness of the screen can be changed manually or use automatic adjustment. The maximum level is quite enough (especially in the high brightness mode) to work with information on a bright sunny day. The minimum indicator is quite comfortable for working in the dark. The proximity sensor locks the screen when you bring your smartphone to your ear.

As in past branded flagship devices, there is the possibility of manually adjusting the color temperature and saturation according to your own taste, using ready-made profiles or using automation. It should be noted that the brightness of the backlight varies not only from the level of ambient light, but also from the brightness of the image itself on the screen, which is not always comfortable for the eyes.

Multi-touch technology allows you to handle up to 10 simultaneous touches. Her work does not raise any complaints. There is support for the increased sensitivity mode for working with gloves.

Sound

As already mentioned, the Lenovo Vibe X2 is equipped with only one multimedia speaker, which is located at the bottom of the back of the case. This area is devoid of any elevations, which is why the sound is noticeably muffled if the gadget is lying on a soft horizontal surface with the screen facing up. The volume level is quite high, which is quite enough for comfortable execution of most everyday scenarios (watching videos, playing games and speakerphone). The sound itself is also good: low, well-detailed mids and adequate highs are felt. In any case, you can use a universal audio jack (mini-jack 3.5 mm) and connect headphones or external acoustics. Or buy the branded Hi-Fi Xtension accessory mentioned above.

The standard player is Google Music, the settings of which are presented in the form of pre-created equalizer profiles. The complete vacuum-type headphones are characterized by clear sounding (the entire frequency range is present) with a sufficient volume level. They do a good job with their direct responsibilities and do not cause a desire to immediately replace them with something else, which will save the future owner some money.

The sound in extraneous headphones was tested for gaming (impedance 60 ohms) and vacuum Vivanco HS 200 WT (impedance 16 ohms). In both cases, the sound is pleasant and balanced, and the volume level is sufficient, even with some margin.

The smartphone has a built-in radio module that allows you to listen to and record FM radio stations operating in frequency range from 87.5 to 108 MHz. Traditionally, to turn on the radio, you need to connect a headset, which is used as an antenna.

Camera

The novelty is equipped with two digital camera modules. The front one has a 5 megapixel sensor, fixed focus and an f / 2.4 lens. Photo and video filming is carried out with a resolution of 2560 x 1920 and 1080p, respectively.

The camera's capabilities are quite enough for taking high-quality self-portraits (in good lighting conditions) and video communication. The viewing angle is quite large, which will appeal to fans of group photos. But it should be remembered that because of the fixed focus, the best field of focus is just at half-arm's length. Then the blur begins. There is the ability to start shooting using gestures, touches, blinking, voice control or timer. In addition, a system for improving the texture of the skin is provided.

The main camera received a 13-megapixel module and a lens with an aperture of f / 2.2. On site, a fairly fast autofocus, a bright one-section LED-flash, as well as a digital image stabilization system (only for video). The maximum photo resolution is 4160 × 3120 (13 megapixels) with an aspect ratio of 4: 3 and 4096 x 2304 (9.4 megapixels) with an aspect ratio of 16: 9. The video is shot at 1920 × 1080 (30 FPS) and is in mp4 format.

The photographs obtained from the main module are characterized by pleasant color reproduction with natural saturation and a good level of detail, but their quality strongly depends on the level of illumination. On the examples of the footage, you can see that even in minor shadows, a rather aggressive operation of the noise reduction system appears, which blurs small details. A good way out of this situation is to use the "HDR" mode to help draw shadows out of the image. Video shooting also pleased me with good detail and smoothness of the picture (a good implementation of the digital stabilization system). It should be noted that all the footage was taken in cloudy weather. Under more favorable conditions, the result will be much better.

The main camera settings menu visually looks quite laconic and at the same time beautiful. It has good functionality, and also provides easy access to controls that are in their usual places. Besides the aforementioned "HDR" mode, "Normal Shooting", "Panorama" and "Special Effects" are available. You can independently adjust the aspect ratio, white balance, flash mode, shooting mode, additional lines, resolution and ISO value (100 - 1600) . An interesting feature is the ability to create a quick snapshot by double-tapping the Home button (Quick Snapshot function), as well as launching the camera by simply lifting the smartphone in a horizontal position and then pointing at the object (Camera Launch Gesture function).

Lenovo VIBE X2 comes pre-installed operating system Android 4.4.2 KitKat over which it is installed latest version proprietary shell Lenovo Launcher v6.0. She looks good and bright with interesting and fluid animations. Traditionally, there is the possibility of flexible customization of the appearance: creating, deleting and sorting desktops, themes, wallpapers for desktops and the lock screen, fonts, animation and logo at startup. The main difference between Lenovo Launcher and the stock Android design is the absence of the usual application menu, since programs are placed right on the desktops along with widgets. There is also the possibility of over-the-air software updates (FOTA).

Lenovo VIBE X2 has a number of quite useful applications, among which Security, SHAREit, SINCit, Power Manager and a number of others should be noted. They will help protect and optimize the performance of your smartphone, simplify content sharing, perform backup personal data, and also extend the battery life. We have already met them in previous tests, so for a more detailed acquaintance, we suggest going to the review.

Of the interesting things it should be noted "Smart Menu" - this is a virtual key that can be placed in any part of the screen. When you press it, the menu opens slightly quick access to the main functions of the smartphone with the ability to add or remove them.

The settings menu is divided into two tabs: "System" and "Special". The first group contains well-known items that provide wide access to system settings: communication opportunities, appearance, screen settings, sound effects, etc. The "Special" tab looks much more interesting, where a number of possibilities are concentrated, designed to simplify the user's life. Among them there is a "Pocket" mode, when activated, the volume is turned to the maximum so as not to miss the alert signal. And in the "In the hands" mode, the signal volume is automatically reduced. In addition, the Smart Standby mode does not block the smartphone while you are looking at it. Once again, it should be noted the possibility of waking up Lenovo VIBE X2 using the "Volume" key and blocking or waking up with a double tap in the free area of the screen.

Subjectively, user interface has a nice and colorful design. It works quite quickly and smoothly. For a more detailed introduction to the functions and other applications, you can watch our video below.

Hardware platform and performance

Lenovo VIBE X2 is based on one of the newest single-chip systems (SoC) - MediaTek MT6595M. It is built on the basis of the progressive version of the 28nm HPM-microarchitecture ARM big.LITTLE and includes 4 high-performance ARM Cortex-A17 cores with a clock speed of up to 2 GHz and 4 energy-efficient ARM Cortex-A7 cores with a clock speed of 1.69 GHz. The L2 cache is 2 MB. This processor implements the technology of intelligent control of the work of the cores - MediaTek CorePilot, which balances performance and low power consumption. That is, at the minimum load, only one core will be active (for example, in standby mode), and when the need for maximum performance (for example, in 3D games), all eight cores will be used. In addition, the dynamic frequency of the cores changes depending on the needs. The integrated graphics solution is IT PowerVR 6200 - two clusters (cores) with a maximum clock frequency of 450 MHz. It received support for OpenGL 3.2, OpenGL ES 3.1 and Direct3D 10.

The amount of RAM is 2 GB, and the constant memory is 32 GB, of which 25.12 GB is available to the user. This space cannot be expanded as there is no support for memory cards. Also, it will not be possible to connect an external USB-drive due to the lack of USB OTG support by this platform.

The performance of the Lenovo VIBE X2 is at the level of modern flagship devices, as evidenced by the top lines of all current benchmarks. The test results are comparable to solutions based on Qualcomm Snapdragon 801/805 and Samsung Exynos 5 Octa 5433. The smartphone copes without problems not only with the smooth operation of the OS and its programs, but also with any modern demanding games. For example, such popular projects as Dead Trigger 2 and Asphalt 8: Airborne run as smoothly as possible at high graphics settings. And the more demanding ones, like Modern Combat 5 and World of Tanks Blitz, are reproduced without visible failures in FPS. Of the games tested, GTA only occasionally slowed down: San andreas, although very rarely. After a prolonged maximum load, the body of the novelty heats up noticeably, but not critical, and this does not affect the comfort during use. Under normal operating conditions, the smartphone is barely warm, and even then not always.

Communication and communications

Lenovo VIBE X2 model works in all modern mobile networks: 2G (850/900/1800/1900 MHz), 3G (HSPA +, up to 42 Mbps) and 4G LTE cat4 (up to 150 Mbps; FDD Band 1/3 / 7/20 (2600/2100/1800/800 MHz)). There is only one radio module, as well as the number of SIM cards.

The quality of calls is at a high level: there are no interruptions or independent drops, and the voice transmission is clear, although it depends on the user's location. The speaker is moderately loud, but without much headroom (for most scenarios it should be enough), with a predominance of high frequencies. Vibration alert of medium strength (you may not feel it in a pocket of thick clothes or a backpack).

The set of communication capabilities is represented by Bluetooth 3.0 + 4.1 LE and Wi-Fi modules. The latter has support for 802.11 b / g / n / ac protocols and Wi-Fi Direct, Wi-Fi Hotspot and Wi-Fi Display functions, and is also capable of operating in the 2.4 / 5 GHz frequency bands. Traditionally, there is DLNA support.

Wi-Fi data rates (100 Mbps wired connection, 802.11 n router) reach a record high among smartphones tested before: up to 84 Mbps for receiving and up to 49 Mbps for sending. Searching for points and connecting to them pleased with the speed and stability of work.

The global geolocation navigation module supports the GPS and GLONASS satellite systems. The first of them in an open area just instantly (5-10 s) identifies about 13 satellites and just as quickly connects to them. Communication is stable with most of them. Under test conditions, the determination accuracy was up to 7 meters.

Autonomous work

The Lenovo Vibe X2 is powered by a 2300 mAh non-replaceable lithium polymer battery. At moderate load with 50% display brightness (calls, SMS, music, a little internet), the novelty will be able to work without recharging for about 1 day. With a minimum load, this indicator can be stretched for 1.5 days. According to the manufacturer, the smartphone can operate in a talk mode for up to 22 hours on a 2G network and up to 11.5 hours on a 3G / 4G network. In addition, the standby time of the novelty can reach 17 / 16.5 days in 2G / 3G networks and up to 10.5 days in 4G. With an urgent need to stay maximum amount time spent on communication or in case of an insignificant battery charge, you can use the "Emergency" power saving mode. Its activation leaves only phone calls and SMS, and other functions are turned off, which allows you to almost double the battery life of your smartphone. In addition, the manufacturer offers to purchase a Battery Xtension patch battery, which will double the battery capacity and thereby increase the battery life.

As a result of watching HD video (MPEG-4 / AVC, MKV container, 4 Mbps stream) at 50% display brightness and Wi-Fi and GPS modules turned on, the device was discharged in 6.5 hours. Gaming simulated using Asphalt 8: Airborne at 100% display brightness and Wi-Fi and GPS enabled, ran out of battery in almost 3 hours.

Battery life testing using the popular PCMark benchmark (editing text, viewing video content, processing photos, etc.) showed a result of 4.5 hours at maximum display brightness. The estimated runtime of the smartphone according to the GFXBench benchmark is 201 minutes.

The battery charging time from the complete unit (5 V, 1 A) is about 2-2.5 hours.

Outcomes

Of course, it is a very interesting smartphone, primarily due to its distinctive and rather refined appearance, which stands out favorably against the background of its monotonous competitors. In addition, the manufacturer equipped its creation with one of the most modern MediaTek MT6595M processors, which in terms of performance can compete with the current flagship devices based on Qualcomm Snapdragon 801/805 and Samsung Exynos 5 Octa 5433, an excellent 5-inch Full HD IPS display with maximum viewing angles and natural color rendering, as well as current digital camera modules (5 Mp and 13 Mp), which boast good quality received content. Additionally, there is support for all modern mobile networks(2G, 3G, 4G) and necessary communications (Bluetooth 3.0 + 4.1 LE, Wi-Fi, DLNA, GPS, GLONASS) that are functioning properly. All this is complemented by a high-quality software component, which is represented by the still current version of Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS, over which the proprietary Lenovo Launcher v6.0 shell is installed. It has a nice and colorful look with flexible personalization options and fairly high functionality.

To ensure autonomous operation, there is a non-removable lithium-polymer battery with a capacity of 2300 mAh. Taking into account the excellent performance of the hardware platform and the characteristics of the display, one should not expect high autonomy with active regular use. The manufacturer has taken into account this situation and offers an interesting accessory - Battery Xtension (replaceable battery in the form of a cover plate), which allows you to double the battery life of the device. Also worth noting is another accessory - Hi-Fi Xtension, which is overhead speakers that can additionally play the role of a stand.

Among the shortcomings can be noted the lack of support for memory cards and the USB OTG specification, but given the amount of internal memory (32 GB), this should not be too worried about.
