• Small slotted screwdriver.
• An electric or Phillips screwdriver.
• Absolutized Isopropyl Alcohol, Isoclene 99.7%
• Alcohol-free rubber cleaner, Platenclene
• High quality compatible toner for Brother HL-L2300.

1. Cleaning products Isoclene 99.7% and Platenclene

2.From the gear side of the cartridge, remove the two screws on most of the end cap (the end cap has two separate parts). Remove the end cover.

3. Remove the screw on the smaller part of the end cover, press down on the latch and remove the cover.

4. Remove the gears and springs as shown in the illustration.

5. Remove the E-ring from the developer or magnetic roller, for this case.

6. Remove the filler plug from the cartridge. Gently lifting it from all sides. Be careful.

The filler plug is very fragile and easily damaged!

Clean the cartridge hopper from the remaining toner.

7. Remove the screws, press down on the latch and pull out the developer shaft.

8. Clean any remaining toner from the hopper. Pay particular attention to the feed roller to make sure it is clean.

9. The metering blade must be clean when first refilling. We do not recommend removing it, due to the risk of breaking the felt seals of the developer roller seats, the metering blade is perfectly cleaned of toner residues with an ordinary cotton swab well moistened with isopropyl alcohol. Felt seals can also be wiped and cleaned with isopropyl alcohol to remove toner residues, being careful not to leave lint. Due to its high density, the alcohol will evaporate quickly and the felt will dry out.

10. If the toner cartridge has already been refilled many times, look at the felt seals on the magnetic roller. If they are squeezed and shiny, gently clean and pry up the pile of the felt with a small slotted screwdriver.

11. Clean the magnetic roller with a lint-free cloth or a high quality paper towel and generously moistened with rubber roller cleaner. Remove toner carbon deposits in the form of rings along the edges of the magnetic roller, and deposits from additives residues that make up the toner powder.

12. Install the developer (magnetic roller).

13. Install the developer gear and screw.

14. Refill the cartridge using compatible toner with Brother HL-L2300 series toner cartridges. Install the filler plug.

15. Clean any toner residues on the gears.

Toner cartridges used in the new line are traditionally divided into standard (1200 pages) and enlarged (2600 pages). Starter cartridges can be filled for 700 and 1200 print pages (at 5% toner coverage of A4 print), depending on the machine model.

To refill the "starter" cartridge, in addition to toner, you will also need the reset flag (to reset the printer counter). We will be using a kit consisting of a toner can, a flag with a spring, and a toner bottle cap. The reset flag is only needed for the starter cartridge. In the future, only a can of toner is required for refilling.

So let's get started.
Disassembly of the cartridge starts from the side cover. We unscrew the screw securing the side cover from the side of the gears.

Remove the side cover.

Under the cover we will see two gears of white color. We remove them one by one, freeing up access to the plug of the toner hopper.

The hopper plug is rather tightly plugged. If you uncork it not neatly, you can easily tear off the edges. Therefore, we open the plug slowly, prying a flat-head screwdriver along the edges.

Pour out all the toner remaining in the hopper, and, if you have a toner vacuum cleaner, thoroughly vacuum the inside of the hopper. We are often asked - why pour out the rest of the toner, why not just add a new portion and continue printing? The answer is obvious: Brother cartridges do not have a separate waste toner collection box; all toner residues after printing are returned to the same hopper, from which they again enter the print path. During the entire operation cycle of the cartridge, not only waste toner accumulates in the hopper, but also paper dust, which, mixed with toner, forms dirt that is not suitable for printing. Therefore, we are not lazy and thoroughly clean the old toner from the hopper. If you add a portion of new toner to an uncleaned cartridge, the result will be a dirty print and false assumptions about poor quality toner.

Let's go back to disassembling the cartridge. We release the plug from the screw:

We remove the plug, the large white gear, then the small white gears one by one:

Remove the developer roller lock washer (which is often referred to as a magnetic shaft, although it is not magnetic by definition):

Remove the black bushing from the opposite side of the cartridge. It is secured with a screw from the outside

and has two serrated latches, which we will gently bend back to remove the bushing:

The sleeve is in two parts, which do not have to be separated. It will be better if we remove it "assembled":

Now let's go back to the guide bushing on the side of the cartridge stopper. It also has two serrated latches that you need to consider when removing the hub.

You can now remove the roller developer from the seat. Directly below the roller is a metering blade, which is secured with two screws at the edges. Unscrew these screws:

So we got to the niche of the toner hopper. Inside the niche is a foam toner roller. Carefully clean the dispenser roller from toner residues using a toner vacuum cleaner:

We draw your attention to the foam rubber seal around the perimeter. The fact is that it is not fixed by anything, not glued to the body, and therefore we try to vacuum so as not to tighten it inside the vacuum cleaner:

Put the cleaned dispensing blade back into place, fix it with screws at the edges. We also return the cleaned magnetic shaft to its place.

We install the guide bush, fix the axis of the developer-roller with a retaining ring:

Lubricate the opposite end of the shaft axis with conductive grease. As always, we apply a little lubricant, without excess. Install the sleeve and tighten the fixing screw:

Now we can refill the cartridge with toner. We use 100 gram toner from Static Contr o l Components with code B 2240-100 B - OS ... This toner is enough to print 2,600 pages (based on ISO / IEC 19798).

After refueling the cartridge, tightly seal the bunker cap. Then we install the white gears one by one. Install the gear tooth as shown in the photo:

Above, we install the second gear and the reset flag. You will now see that the white gear tooth is located next to the inner tooth of the reset flag.

It remains to install the spring and close the gears with the side cover. Pay attention to the correct starting position of the counter reset flag.

1. On the gear side of the cartridge, remove the two screws on most of the end cap (two-piece). Next, you must remove the end cap.

2. Now you need to unscrew the screw in the area of ​​the smaller part of the end cover, then press the latch and remove the cover.

3. Then you should remove the springs and gears.

5. Remove the filler plug from the cartridge. Be careful, try to remove the cork carefully, as there is a risk of breaking it.

6. Now you need to shake out the original powder from the cartridge, and then remove the remaining toner from the hopper using a specialized vacuum cleaner. The hopper should be purged with compressed air.

7. Then you will need to unscrew the screws, press down on the latch and remove the rubber shaft.

8. You should vacuum the remaining toner powder from the hopper. Particular attention should be paid to the spongy (porous) roller. It is required to be as good as new.

9. It is essential that the metering blade is clean during the first refueling. We do not recommend removing it due to the risk of breaking the felt seals of the rubber shaft seats. To clean the dispensing blade from the remaining powder, you can use a regular rag, which should be well lubricated with a solvent or specialized liquid. In addition, felt seals can be wiped clean and leftover powder can be cleaned with rubbing alcohol, but it is important to be careful not to leave lint. Due to its density, the alcohol evaporates very quickly, so that the felt remains dry.

10. If the toner cartridge has already been refilled several times, you should look at the felt seals of the magnetic roller. If they are compressed and shiny, clean them carefully and lift the nap of the felt with a small flat screwdriver.

11. You should wipe the rubber roller with a lint-free cloth, which will require moistening with water to clean it.

13. Now you need to install the rubber shaft gear and screw.

14. Refill the cartridge with compatible (Brother cartridge) toner. You will need to install the filler plug.

15. You need to clean the gears from the powder remaining on them.

16. You will need to install the E-ring retaining rings on the rubber shaft.

17. Then you must install three gears close to the transfer shaft.

18. Starting from the cartridge model, set the zeroing gear. Make sure the reset gear and retaining ring are close to each other.

19. Install the side covers and screw them with three screws.

20. It is required to wipe the cartridge to remove the remaining powder and dust.
