Home speaker is a powerful system. Floor acoustics. Highest Sound Resolution Speakers

Active acoustics set, in combination with big screen allows you to create a semblance of a mini-cinema in a house or apartment. Modern acoustics produce very high quality, rich sound and can work under high loads. The speakers are installed in different parts of the apartment, saturating the room with surround sound, without losing sound quality, even over long distances. Models of the middle and premium price segment can be used not only for home, but also for professional tasks. The most common home speaker system includes five satellite speakers and one subwoofer. In another way, such a kit is called the 5.1 system.

Let's try to figure out which models turned out to be the best in our traditional rating. Acoustic kits were divided into four classes: inexpensive, mid-range, premium and super-premium. We've also added a 7.1 surround speaker category. Such systems noticeably improve the perception of films and games, they are more pleasant to listen to.

When distributing seats, the following characteristics and indicators were taken into account:

  • Total acoustics power;
  • Dimensions and weight of speakers;
  • Subwoofer power;
  • Body material;
  • The cost of the kit. The optimum ratio of price and quality
  • Sound quality (subjective, according to user reviews).

The best inexpensive acoustics: budget up to 10,000 rubles.

A section of frankly cheap, but quite good acoustics for those who are not too worried about impeccable sound. Do not expect miracles from such a technique. Cheap models are capable of delivering sound at an entry level, which will be enough for most inexperienced users. The cost corresponds to the quality.

3 Defender Hollywood 35

Best price
Country: China
Average price: 4,004 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.3

The third place in the rating of the best inexpensive speaker sets is occupied by Defender Hollywood 35. A distinctive feature is the presence of volume control separately for the subwoofer, center, front and rear, along with general control. Scope of application - premises with an area of up to 25 m2. The price is the best in the Hollywood lineup for these specific parameters. The cases of all elements are wooden, with magnetic shielding, which makes a nearby TV or monitor stop responding to interference. The package includes a cable that allows you to connect to the DVD. It is controlled by both the remote control and the subwoofer.

In the reviews, users highlight two main advantages: high purity of sound and the ability to place this acoustics throughout the room. Convenience of management is achieved due to the ability to separately manage each element. Two types of inputs allow simultaneous connection of a player and a computer. There are only 3 drawbacks: an insufficiently durable remote control, short wires at the speakers and the inability to hang elements on the wall.

2 Yamaha NS-P150

The most affordable set of acoustics
The country: Japan (produced in Indonesia)
Average price: 8 990 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.6

The second place in the top three is occupied by the Yamaha NS-P150 home passive system, consisting of 3 speakers: one for the center channel (65 Hz - 38 KHz) and 2 rear (60 Hz - 38 KHz). The body is made of MDF with mahogany or ebony finish. 2 types of placement are possible: on a shelf and on a wall (the kit includes fasteners and screw terminals). The frequency range is sufficient for home theater and music listening. The best area of application is to expand the functionality of the front speakers.

Users call the Yamaha NS-P150 the best economy class passive speaker when used for center and rear. The brand and optimal ratio prices and quality. The best sound for mids and high frequencies... The pluses include the same aesthetically attractive appearance... The disadvantages are the small length of the wires, not the best sounding at low frequencies and the demand for care (the dust is immediately visible).

1 BBK МА-880S

The best ratio of price and quality
Country: China
Average price: 6 370 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.8

The first place in the rating is deservedly taken by the BBK MA-880S, a relatively inexpensive but high-quality set of active acoustics. The manufacturers have taken care of the attractive design of the kit. The cases are assembled from MDF "ebony". The system looks modern and stylish. It will fit into any apartment. The 5.1 surround sound kit includes two front, one center and two rear speakers, as well as a bass reflex subwoofer. In total, this set delivers a maximum power of up to 150 watts. This is quite enough in an apartment.

Of the interfaces, there is a multichannel line input and USB Type-A... The set is controlled by the remote control. Conveniently, the system has a Dolby ProLogic decoder that decomposes stereo recordings into five channels that allow you to create surround sound. You can also insert memory cards directly into the speaker system, and music will be played from them. In the reviews, users indicate that the speakers sound great, quite enough for an apartment. They are especially pleasing when watching movies. But the weak bass and short wires are disappointing.

The best sets of mid-range acoustics: budget up to 40,000 rubles.

The middle price segment pleases with a wide variety of different acoustics. You can find not only simple, inexpensive systems, but also complete sets that can please even discerning users. The clarity and quality of the reproduced sound are high, but still not perfect.

3 Samsung HW-N650

Wireless connection
Country: South Korea
Average price: 25 970 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.6

The rating section opens with a soundbar with a subwoofer, which produces a decent sound level and is well-deservedly popular with buyers. The set looks unobtrusive but modern. In total, the soundbar and subwoofer deliver up to 360 W of power, which is enough to cover a small apartment with clear and loud sound. The set of acoustics received a 5.1 surround sound system - in addition to the soundbar, a separate wireless subwoofer is attached. Conveniently, it is possible to connect an additional set of rear speakers, which will only enhance the volume effect.

The frequency range is not ideal - 42-20000 Hz. As you can see, the low end is cut off a bit. However, the sound from this did not become less deep and juicy: only avid music lovers will notice the difference. In the reviews, many users praise the acoustics just for the good sound, although they notice the weakness of the "bottom". The system is controlled through the remote control. You can connect the kit via an optical cable or HDMI, depending on preferences. There is also a line-in and USB Type-A. Naturally, in speakers of this type, you can establish a connection with a smartphone and even connect flash drives.

2 Canton Movie 75

Studio sound for little money
The country: Germany (made in China)
Average price: 33 990 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.7

A well-deserved second place is taken by a relatively compact set of acoustics, capable of delivering 5.1 surround sound and power up to 600 watts. This is quite enough not only for a room, but also for a small apartment. The set of acoustics fully corresponds to the concept of "German quality". The manufacturers tried their best and made such a well-thought-out and serious system that one can only be glad for the buyers. In the reviews, the latter praise the quality and elaboration of the sound, although they note that in some scenes there is not enough bass, and the high frequencies are slightly raised. The sound can be safely called studio sound, adjusted for the cost of the set.

The system is capable of producing sound with a frequency of 38 to 25000 Hz, which, alas, does not completely cover the area of perception. However, the set of acoustics is aimed mainly at watching films, so it conveys the special effects as it should: you literally feel like a participant in the events. The speakers can be mounted on a shelf or directly on the wall, so they will not take up the useful area of the room. Plus, it allows you to create a more natural sound. The system settings will allow you to create a unique sound that suits the user in all the desired parameters. Alas, control is only available manually, like all settings: there is no remote control included.

1 VECTOR HX 5.0

Best frequency range (28-33000 Hz)
Country: UK
Average price: 24 990 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.9

Gold is taken by a budget but impressive set of speakers with a 5.0 surround sound system. The range of reproducible frequencies is very pleasing: 28-33000 Hz, which is far beyond the limits of human capabilities. Buyers note that the sound is wonderfully balanced and detailed, which is very important. You will even feel what you cannot hear with your ears. Outwardly, the speakers look serious and solid, but the quality of the coating is not the best - if you often touch it, then the film will peel off within a few years.

The connectors are gold plated and should be considered when purchasing additional cables. Alas, the connection is only wired. You will have to find the right receiver to combine the kit into unified system and bring sound from different sources to it. Alas, this time the creators of the model did without a subwoofer. However, judging by the reviews, the kit can do without it, giving out quite powerful and detailed bass. If desired, a subwoofer can be purchased and attached separately, but in most cases it will not be needed.

The best premium speaker sets: budget up to 80,000 rubles.

Premium acoustics take a special position relative to others. It is in it that the best combination of high prices and excellent quality is achieved. Such systems will easily satisfy even the most picky listeners. Their characteristics are quite enough to cover all the needs of the buyer.

3 Wharfedale Movie Star DX-1

Ideal for movies and games
Country: UK
Average price: 42 590 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.6

The premium acoustics rating begins with this model, produced to create the perfect acoustic picture for watching movies. The compact set allows you to get high-quality sound in movies without taking up much space. Stylish design and perfect white color will allow the model to fit into any room, although there is also a black option for fans. The model quietly produces a frequency range from 30 to 20,000 Hz, which is quite enough for the human ear. There will be enough power to fill a fairly large room with sound without leaving a trace. Opportunity wireless connection allows you to get rid of wires and not suffer with them.

Enjoy the best experience with the Wharfedale Movie Star DX-1 for movies or PC games. The sound is rich, multifaceted and spacious enough to feel like a participant in the events. Alas, when listening to complex music, the impression can be slightly spoiled. Involuntary specialization affects. At high volume, slight distortion appears, which is unpleasant. On the other hand, the kit is not intended for music lovers.

2 Jamo S 809 HCS

Wide range frequencies (from 36 to 26000 Hz)
Country: Denmark
Average price: 67 990 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.7

The second line of the rating was taken by a set of acoustics with giant front speakers and stylish design. The model produces a 5.0 surround sound with a frequency from 36 to 26000 Hz, practically covering the entire audible range, except for the lowest bass. The high power pleases: the declared 420 W is quite enough to provide your own mini home theater with an area of up to 50 m 2 with excellent sound. However, the lack of a subwoofer is not encouraging. In the reviews, buyers write that the bass is juicy without it. But for completeness of immersion, we would recommend purchasing an additional subwoofer.

The set of speakers supports Dolby Atmos, which will allow you to connect special terminals to create augmented reality. But even without it, the model produces such a full, deep and vivid sound that any films and games will sparkle with new colors. The acoustics copes with music much better than the previous rating participant. The sound is transmitted accurately enough, with all the nuances and liveliness that is inherent in some genres of music. However, due to the lack of a subwoofer, not entirely accurate sound reproduction can be seen in genres that are characterized by a large amount of bass.

1 MT-Power Performance 5.1

Best wattage (up to 1190 W)
Country: UK
Average price: 57,750 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.8

This relatively inexpensive but excellent 5.1 surround sound model is becoming the leader in the rating of the best premium speaker sets. A novelty on the market, it has already won the hearts of high-quality sound lovers. This is the most powerful speaker in the category: the set is capable of delivering up to 1190 watts of power. So the model will easily cover even large rooms and halls with sound: you can safely buy it for a home theater from 50 m 2 or more. The system issues frequency range from 35 to 22000 Hz, which is almost enough for the entire range of audibility.

The appearance of the kit inspires deep respect. There are four colors to choose from with different black / white combinations. The model will decorate any apartment, hall, mini-cinema. The sound quality of the kit matches the design: powerful, deep and soulful. The sound of the device is almost perfect: even aesthetes will be delighted. It should be borne in mind that to connect the kit you will need a good receiver and cables with gold-plated plugs to ensure the most reliable and clean connection.

The best super premium speaker kits

Speaker kits of this level cost fabulous money, but for this they give the buyer not only excellent sound quality, but also amazing durability. Models in this category have the perfect sound, expressive style, and all the features and bells and whistles you can imagine.

3 KEF E305

Best sound (max. Frequency 45000 Hz). The most unusual design
Country: China
Average price: 88,200 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.7

The 5.1 KEF E305 Ceiling Sound System is the choice of innovators who appreciate natural sound and bold design. The KEF E305 acoustics are well known: if you say “eggs” or “Easter set”, an experienced user will immediately imagine which model of a well-known English company they are talking about. Ranked # 1 in Premium Speaker Systems!

The main feature of the kit is the detail, volume and accuracy of sound reproduction. The Hi fi system earned the "Best Sound" rating due to its characteristics: wide frequency range (33-45000 Hz) and high sensitivity (86 dB). The device uses technologies inherent in premium models. For example, the Uni-Q coaxial speaker, which combines a tweeter and a midrange driver. As a result, the user enjoys deep, harmonious sound: the system suppresses noise and smoothes the vibration amplitude.

An acoustically invisible, yet powerful subwoofer works for this purpose. Its low frequency radiation does not dominate the rest of the sound field. Stiffening ribs of the satellite bodies are made of noise canceling plastic. Users note that the best sounding is in the middle and high range. The expressiveness of the sound is lost when the volume is lowered.

The second feature, which immediately catches the eye, is the unusual design: the dome-shaped subwoofer housing with a downward-directed radiator, egg-shaped radiators of a compact design. It is not difficult to strengthen the satellites on the walls. Alternatively, the speakers are mounted on stands (not included). A successful solution is a combination of an original design and the use of classic colors: dazzling white and deep black. The set organically fits into any furnishing design.
Consumers refer to the manufacturer's shortcomings as a small angle of inclination of the speakers, which creates difficulties in placement and configuration.

2 Bose Acoustimass 10

The most popular kit. User Choice
Country: USA
Average price: 89 990 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.8

The well-known American manufacturer "Bowes" is not in vain among the top-best manufacturers of high-quality acoustics. The tenth version of the legendary Acousticmass series has turned out to be the one that is necessary for every user who has a need for good sound. And these are far from empty words (and not absurd): the consumer finds something of his own in this amazing kit, which has become very popular since the time of the fifth version.

First of all, the impressive size and weight of the subwoofer catches the eye - almost 16 kilograms of low-frequency "happiness" gives a really soft and "tasty" bass. The feeling of admiration does not leave the consumer even when examining the speakers: a standard set of two rear, two front and one center sources gives a total of 250 watts of pure power. This is not too much, but the first time you turn on the kit, it becomes clear that more is not needed. From the very first minutes, it becomes clear that Bose did a titanic job and poured a mountain of funds not in vain.

The acoustics do their job perfectly well without additional amplifiers, comes in three colors and generally looks like a priority choice among their competitors.

1 Focal Pack Dome 5.1

Best sound quality
Country: France
Average price: 139,990 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.9

An acoustic kit that is capable of changing the idea of the quality of ideal sound. This is the very case when the huge cost is fully offset by the highest precision of assembly, reliability and listening experience of the reproduced sound. Columns and active subwoofer have a gloss-styled aluminum casing that fits into any interior. A standard set of five speakers reproduces sound with a frequency of 80 to 28000 Hz, so much so that even the most capricious consumers could not find flaws (provided an adequate equalizer setting). As for the subwoofer, it operates at frequencies from 47 to 200 Hz.

It is advisable to use such a kit in a large, spacious room, and the dimensions clearly indicate this. The weight of each speaker is nearly 1.9 kilograms with dimensions of 144x172x143 millimeters (width, height and depth, respectively), and the subwoofer is 11 kilograms. There is no hope of assembling the system at home - in a small room, the sound will greatly interfere with neighbors, and it will not reflect on the health of the listeners in the best way. The final advantage lies in the finishing options for the kit - the choice of consumers is presented by kits in red, white and black. Ideal for large venues.

The best speaker kits with 7.1 sound

7.1 Surround Sound is currently the best in mass-produced home audio kits. Such systems are expensive, but they allow you to get the most immersive experience, almost like in a movie theater. Among the models in this category, there are both conventional kits and compact, but effective soundbars with fine tuning of the surround sound relative to the user.

3 YAMAHA YSP-2700

Compact sound projector
Country: Japan
Average price: 89 990 rub
Rating (2019): 4.7

Soundbar is a sound projector capable of delivering surround sound with just one speaker and subwoofer. Despite the low power (107 W) and frequency range (40-22000 Hz), the device manages to provide such a lively and deep sound that it boggles the mind. In the reviews, buyers are so imbued with the system that they write exceptionally good things. Although with a strong desire, you can find fault with the 20 Hz cut from the bottom. However, the bass is enough for a wah effect.

7.1 sound is provided by locating the user. A sound projector is capable of directing sound beams so that they reach the listener from different directions. Due to this, the volume effect of 7.1 is provided. For correct operation, you need to correctly install the soundbar and choose a room where nothing will interfere with the sound reflecting off walls or furniture correctly. In terms of quality, users actively praise the clarity of the sound of both music and movies or games. That is, the system is universal, especially if you configure it for each type of content.

2 Samsung HW-N950

Best value for money and sound quality
Country: South Korea
Average price: 81,950 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.8

This soundbar is a novelty on the market and has already earned recognition. A reputable South Korean company has tried to make a product that will be worthy to take a place in the home theater of almost any person. The multitude of settings and truly flexible coverage of the sound of the entire room makes the kit almost the best choice of all in terms of value for money. Even slightly cut frequencies (34-17000 Hz) do not affect the quality: sound reproduction is still pleasing with harmony and depth. Power of 512 W will allow to "sound" even a large room.

The soundbar comes with two rear speakers and a subwoofer, which provides true 7.1 sound, much less dependent on the angle of reflection of waves, as in the case of the previous rating participant. The speakers and the reflection of waves from the ceiling and walls complement each other perfectly, literally flooding the room with a melody or soundtrack. Support for Dolby Atmos and DTS: X is great because it will provide really great sound. The system is controlled using the remote control, and you can connect it via digital optics or HDMI.

1 DALI Opticon 5 7.1

Elite acoustics of excellent quality
Country: Denmark
Average price: 255,900 rubles.
Rating (2019): 4.9

An elite speaker system that can strike even the most inveterate music lover on the spot. Wide frequency range (26-32000 Hz) covers 99% of audibility. At the same time, the sound is clear, crystal clear, so deep and full that it is easy to drown in it. Such a system is ideal for both home theater and other entertainment: listening to music, playing games, and so on. In all endeavors, this acoustic system becomes something without which it is already impossible to imagine leisure.

Available in three designs - white, black and wood grain. In any of the three versions, the set of acoustics looks very decent and solid, which is quite logical. The connectors for the cables are gold-plated, so you need to find the appropriate wires and an equally high-quality receiver or player. There are frankly few reviews of premium equipment, but they are full of positive emotions in the direction of the quality and completeness of sound coverage. In general, this speaker system deserves to be considered the best among all premium models from 80,000 rubles and more expensive than those that are generally available.

You can understand the essence of a particular technique in different ways. Read press releases, hardware documentation, and finally test it. But all this is only part of the puzzle. To put it together, you need to talk to the people who develop it. Ideally, visit the factory where it is made. See the faces of the workers, breathe the same air with them, dine in their canteen. And even think to yourself: would you like to work here?

The recipes for successful market entry have long been known. The most obvious: to offer a product at a price lower than that of competitors. The method works in all areas, including the production of meat and dairy products, cars and AV equipment. It seems extremely obvious and simple, so many people resort to it and ... often fail.

Because it is written in small print under this recipe: an attractive quality / price ratio must be maintained not just for a long time, but constantly. It takes time to be believed in. This means that it is necessary not only to create a high-quality product, but also to learn how to produce it with minimal costs, since investors' money runs out very quickly. Accurately calculate a business plan, build logistics, organize distribution, provide people with decent working conditions so that they do not run away ...

The pride of the factory is the CNC machining center.

This is especially difficult when we are talking not about budgetary mass equipment, but about equipment designed for demanding music lovers. Those who are willing to pay for the sound that they like, but at the same time do not have unlimited financial possibilities.

« High end acoustics for the priceHi-Fi "

The motto may seem presumptuous to some, but in fact it accurately reflects his philosophy. I was convinced of this by visiting the factory where this acoustics is assembled. A trip there for a group of journalists was organized by Russian company Audiomania, which owns both the Arslab brand and the factory itself.

The essence of Arslab's idea is to stay on the “linear part of the curve”, without even going beyond the point of older models, after which there is a sharp rise in costs that is not adequate to the increase in quality.

Is it possible in principle - top-class technology at the price of an average? Over the years, we have been taught that the High End is an area where price does not matter, where compromises are unacceptable. That the people who do it have intimate knowledge. It is easy and pleasant to believe in this, until another element is added to the feeling of piety - prudence. Many great sound gurus have powerful charisma, but does that mean that their creations are bound to make you happy? Provided, of course, that you can afford them.

Side part of the body, turned on the machining center.

It is known that once a certain quality level is reached, even the smallest improvement is disproportionately expensive. The problem is not whether the ephemeral improvement is worth the exorbitant cost, but whether you can tell the difference. Even among experts, few have such a developed hearing, and even among untrained music lovers, even more so. What do we actually hear: exquisite perfection or its phantom, which has arisen in our brains under the influence of an impressive price tag? From time to time I ask myself this question, but I cannot always give a definite answer to it.

But we must also take into account that an increase in the retail price limits the level of sales, and this inevitably increases costs, since the cost of components is related to the volume of purchases. Some manufacturers, for example, speaker drivers, do not sell their products in small batches at all. As a result, the cost of the equipment begins to grow like an avalanche.

Often, High End manufacturers increase their costs without affecting the sound at all - solely in order to emphasize the status of the product. For example, a speaker trimmed with rosewood or ebony sounds no better than the same acoustics with walnut veneer, but in price they can differ quite significantly. Although the first one will certainly look "richer".

These complex speakers are custom made.

The essence of Arslab's idea is to stay on the “linear part of the curve”, without even going beyond the point of older models, after which there is a sharp rise in costs that is not adequate to the increase in quality. In theory, any manufacturer can follow this principle, provided that he is able to optimize development, production, distribution and has the necessary specialists. In practice, everything turns out to be more complicated. Some knowledge and skills can only be acquired through personal experience, and Arslab has it.

Factory path

The idea to create its own acoustics arose from "Audiomania" long ago. According to its founder and general director Artem Faermark, it happened in 2000, at the same time he met Yuri Fomin, who already had his own design bureau F-Lab, also known as Fomin's Laboratory. The idea and capabilities of a large distributor received an engineering foundation. It remained to find a production base ...

It is extremely difficult and expensive to control production in China, logistics are very complicated, and it is not profitable to produce relatively small batches of high-quality acoustics there, since most Chinese enterprises are oriented towards extras.

Everything turned out to be a little more complicated than expected, so the idea could only be realized in 2007, when contacts were established with two Chinese factories (one made speakers, the other - cases and assembly). Things went well, and Arslab acoustics began not only to be exhibited at prestigious international exhibitions, but also to be in steady demand.

Gluing the body.

However, over time, it turned out that controlling production in China is extremely difficult and expensive, logistics is very difficult, and it is unprofitable to produce relatively small batches of high-quality acoustics there, since most Chinese enterprises are focused on extras. As a result, by 2011 the decision was ripe to move production to Europe. At first there was a partnership with the Latvian company Baltic Audio Box (BAB), which undertook to produce cases, but in 2012 it went bankrupt and had to create its own production in Riga, which started working in 2013.

People and cars

Almost all qualified personnel from BAB moved to the new factory. Chief Engineer and Technical Director Viktor Lagarpov once worked at Radiotekhnika, but that was a long time ago, and after that legendary enterprise he had already managed to work in serious electronic companies, in particular, in Samsung and Toshiba.

In general, the qualifications of the workers here are very high, many of them have worked for several years in the production of acoustics, not only in Latvia, but also in Scandinavia. Recently, an old employee returned to the factory from Denmark, having left several years ago to work for a very famous company. Yes, the salary there was many times higher, but the high cost of living (taxes, rent, etc.) nullified all the benefits.

Sanding before painting with varnish.

Most of the assembly and finishing operations are done by hand - this is optimal for acoustics produced in small editions. Naturally, specialized equipment is used, there are painting and drying chambers with precisely controlled temperature and humidity. Wood is processed on ultra-modern machines. The special pride of the factory is the German machining center HOMAG, which is able to cut panels for the most intricate shapes of cases. The most difficult thing in its operation is preparing a program for the processor, but factory specialists successfully cope with this.

Recently, an old employee returned to the factory from Denmark, having left several years ago to work for a well-known company.

A special machine, also from Germany, fills the voids in the packaging with self-hardening foam - this avoids damage to the finished product during transportation. The original design of plywood boxes for speakers and stands (they are also made here) was developed by the factory's specialists. Unlike cardboard boxes, it is durable and can be reused. In general, everything is thought out to the smallest detail.

Painting chamber.

The high quality level of the enterprise is also evidenced by the fact that very serious European firms entrust it with the manufacture of enclosures and finished speakers. Although this is usually not advertised. But the Finnish Penaudio does not hide this - even the most expensive models of this brand are made in Riga. From time to time, special orders of rich music lovers are carried out here - they develop and produce exclusive acoustics with specified characteristics.

Free city Riga

Riga was a free city for a very long time and not at all for long, from 1561 to 1582, but it offers great freedom for the industrial business even now. In any case, there are no such problems as in Russia with the import and customs clearance of imported components and components. Wood, natural birch veneer are purchased locally (the supplier is literally on the next street), adhesives and partially varnishes are also purchased from a local manufacturer located nearby. But high density MDF (HDF), which serves as the basis for the cases of most models, is imported from Germany. Naturally, speakers are imported (mainly SEAS and Wavecor, as well as ScanSpeak, Morel, Jensen, etc.), inductors (Jantzen), capacitors (Mundorf, Audiocore), terminals (WBT, Audiocore) and many other components. For example, the non-woven packaging material in which the speakers are wrapped and which does not leave marks on the piano lacquer comes from China, but is not made anywhere else.

All this routine, but very important work (that is, purchases, logistics, etc.) is handled by the Latvian branch of the international group of companies World Audio Distribution. It owns a factory in Riga, brands Arslab, Audiocore, Cold Ray and OneTech, as well as large stakes in Penaudio and Ceratec.

Piano lacquer polishing.

However, all these "production and economic relations" are not particularly interesting for lovers of music and high-quality sound - if they affect the final product, then indirectly and mainly - on its price. It is also, of course, an important parameter, but it's time to move on to the most important thing for us - who creates the acoustics, who makes it play.

Meet the parents

High-end technology (even “affordable”) is always an author's product. Of course, teams of like-minded people can also develop it, but one person always has a decisive influence on the sound. The high end always has a first and last name. For Arslab, this is Yuri Fomin. I heard about him before, but I personally met him only at a factory in Riga, where he often visits and where he has his own laboratory, where new models are created and experiments with new designs are carried out.

Most of the assembly and finishing operations are done by hand - this is optimal for acoustics produced in small editions.

A well-known personality, a personal page on Wikipedia is dedicated to him. I will not retell (you can go there yourself), but I will highlight the main thing, which largely determined the character of the sound of Arslab acoustics.

The filters are assembled by hand, all their elements are connected with a copper wire 1 mm thick. Such a crossover sounds better than assembled on a conventional PCB.

An engineer by training (graduated from the Moscow Aviation Institute) and an adherent of the classical principles of acoustics design. An amateur musician who played guitar in his youth and sang in numerous ensembles. Professional sound engineer who has worked with many popular pop groups. He was engaged in the development of concert equipment, multimedia kits. An excellent organizer who created his own design bureau F-lab and received several patents related to the production of loudspeakers (one of them describes the original technology of making paper diffusers in a vacuum). Finally, he was one of the first cooperators: In 1988 he founded the Sound Master production company, that is, he knows the realities of business well and is used to thinking within the framework of the possible.

He is currently working on two interesting projects in the Latvian laboratory. The first is a two-way floorstanding speaker with a passive cone and an 8 ”head in the midrange / bass section. According to the generally accepted opinion among acoustic engineers, such speakers are not able to correctly play the mid-frequency range and almost always give color. Drivers required up to 6 ”. However, one of the factory's private clients desired a compact acoustics with a sufficiently low and at the same time clear bass, and Yuri Fomin became interested in this non-trivial task. The use of a speaker with a large diameter just allows you to make the bass deep, the passive radiator is clear, and the two bands are limited to a small body. Just in the days that we were on our press tour to the factory, he auditioned for a single prototype. Measurement data and listening gave promising results, so it is quite possible that as a result one of the generally accepted stereotypes will be refuted, and a new curious model may even appear in the Arslab range.

Here speakers and crossovers are mounted in the speakers.

The second project, an active subwoofer, is being developed for specific customers and will be released in just two copies. Challenge: to create a system with powerful and fastest bass. That is, to fulfill the dream of many. Therefore, a closed design and four 5 ”heads were chosen. Despite the high resonance frequency of such drivers, the lower cutoff frequency of the sub can be low due to the smooth roll-off in the closed box and the corresponding DSP characteristics. It seemed to me that Yuri Fomin's team was on the right track: even miniature bookshelf speakers sounded surprisingly fascinating with this subwoofer and at the same time thoroughly and effectively.

The high end always has a first and last name.

Will this bass machine go into production? The likelihood of this, according to Fomin, is not high in the current conditions, since the drivers used are expensive, so the output price will be prohibitively high. So the dream is feasible only for the elite. However, if World Audio Distribution suddenly sees a demand for such a model, it will be able to quickly launch into a series. Ultimately, everything depends on us, lovers of high-quality sound, on our effective demand, on the desire and ability to buy good-quality equipment. Let us hope for the best.

Dedicated to the acoustics of the room, we found out that any room is a kind of resonator, dramatically influencing the character of the sound of the system. Now it's time to talk directly about the sources of this very sound, that is, about acoustic systems.

In order to properly understand the processes occurring in a box, on the wall of which one or more speakers are mounted, you need to thoughtfully read a couple of books, each of which contains more formulas than in the entire school physics course. I will not get into such a jungle, so this material is not worth it as an exhaustive analysis or a guide to building audiophile speakers. However, I really hope that it will help novice music lovers (and some chronic ones too) how to navigate a variety of acoustic solutions, each of which its developers, of course, call the only correct one.

Some time after the invention in 1924 of an electrodynamic emitter with a conical diffuser (okay, just a speaker), its wooden frame performed primarily decorative and protective functions. This is understandable - after many years of listening to records through mica membranes and gramophone bells, the sound of the new device, and without any acoustic refinement, seemed just the apotheosis of euphony.

Gramophone membranes were most often made of aluminum or mica.

However, recording technologies were rapidly improving and it became clear that it is extremely problematic to reproduce the audible range more or less plausibly with a speaker simply attached to a stand. The fact is that the dynamic head, left to itself, is in a state of acoustic short circuit. That is, the waves from the front and rear surfaces of the diffuser, emitted, of course, in antiphase, are unimpededly superimposed on each other, which most sadly affects the efficiency of work, and primarily on the transfer of bass.

By the way, in the process of this story, I will most often talk about low frequencies, since their reproduction is a key moment in the operation of any speaker cabinet. HF drivers, due to the small wavelength of the emitted waves, do not need to interact with the internal volume of the column at all, and are most often completely isolated from it.

Soul wide open

The easiest way to separate the front from the rear speaker is to mount it on a panel as large as possible. From this simple idea, in fact, the first speaker systems were born, which was a box with an open back wall, since for compactness the edges of the shield were simply taken and bent at a right angle. However, in terms of bass reproduction, the success of such designs was not very impressive. In addition to the imperfection of the housing, the problem was also in the very small, according to modern concepts, the suspension travel of the diffusers. In order to somehow get out of the situation, speakers were used as large as possible, capable of developing an acceptable sound pressure with a small vibration amplitude.

PureAudioProject Trio 15TB with 15 '' woofers on triple layer bamboo panels

Despite the seeming primitiveness of such structures, they also had some advantages, and so specific and interesting that the adherents of open speakers have not been extinct to this day.

To begin with, having no obstacles in the way of sound waves is the best way to increase sensitivity. This moment is especially valuable for audiophile tube amplifiers, especially single-ended or lacking feedback... Large-diameter paper diffusers, even at a power of about four to five watts, are capable of creating a rather impressive, and at the same time surprisingly open and free sound.

With a height of 1.2 m in the world of open acoustics, the Jamo R907 are considered almost compact

As for the rear radiation, in order not to distort the direct sound, it should come to the listener with a noticeable delay (over 12-15 ms) - in this case, its influence is felt as a slight reverberation, only adding air to the sound and expanding the musical space ... The subtlety is that to create this very "noticeable delay" the speakers, of course, must be located at a fair distance from the walls. In addition, the large area of the front panel and the impressive dimensions of the woofers have a corresponding effect on the overall dimensions of the loudspeakers. In short, the owners of small and even medium-sized living rooms, please do not worry.

By the way, a special case open systems- acoustics based on electrostatic emitters. Only due to the almost weightless large-area diaphragm, to all the above-described advantages, electrostats add the ability to delicately transmit even the sharpest dynamic contrasts, and due to the absence of signal separation in the mid-range and high-frequency zones, also enviable timbre accuracy.

Open clearance

Pros: Upscale open speakers are a great way to get a real kick out of listening to purist tube single-ended monitors.

Minuses: It's better to forget about fat compression bass right away. The entire sound path should be subordinated to the idea of open acoustics, and the speakers themselves will have to be chosen from an extremely limited number of proposals.

Locked in a drawer

With the growth of power and improvement of the parameters of amplifiers, the ultra-high sensitivity of acoustics has ceased to be the main stumbling block, but the problems of uneven frequency response, and especially the correct reproduction of bass, have become even more urgent.

A giant step towards progress in this direction was made in 1954 by the American engineer Edgar Wilchur. He patented a closed-type speaker system, and this was by no means a gimmick in the style of the current patent trolls.

Edgar Vilchur's patent application for a speaker in a closed form

By that time, the phase inverter had already been invented and, of course, the speaker was also tried on to the box with the bottom more than once, but nothing good came of it. Due to the elasticity of the closed volume of air, it was necessary either to lose a significant part of the energy of the diffuser, or to make the body prohibitively large in order to reduce the pressure gradient. Vilchur decided to turn evil for good. He greatly reduced the elasticity of the suspension, thus shifting the control over the movement of the diffuser to the air volume - the spring is much more linear and stable than the corrugation or rubber ring.

In a closed box, the movement of the diffuser is controlled by air - unlike paper or rubber, it does not age or wear out

Thus, it was possible not only to completely get rid of the acoustic short circuit and to raise the recoil at low frequencies, but also to noticeably smooth the frequency response along its entire length. However, a minor point was also revealed. It turned out that damping by a closed volume of air leads to an increase in the resonant frequency of the mobile system and a sharp deterioration in the reproduction of frequencies below this threshold. To combat such a nuisance, it was necessary to increase the mass of the diffuser, which logically led to a decrease in sensitivity. Plus, the absorption inside the "black box" of almost half of the acoustic energy could not but contribute to the decrease in sound pressure. In short, the new type of speakers required amplifiers of quite serious power. Fortunately, at that time they already existed.

Subwoofer SVS SB13-Ultra with closed acoustic design

Today, closed design is used for the most part in subwoofers, especially in those that claim to be serious musical performance. The fact is that for home theaters, vigorous development of the lowest bass is often more important than dynamic and phase accuracy throughout the low frequency range. But by combining a relatively compact closed sub with decent satellites, you can achieve much more correct sound- albeit not filled with super-deep bass, but extremely fast, collected and clear. All of the above can be attributed to full-range speakers, "closed" models of which occasionally appear on the market.

Closed box

Pros: Exemplary attack speed and low-frequency resolution. Relative compactness of the design.

Minuses: It takes enough powerful amplifier... Superdeep bass on the verge of infrasound is very difficult to achieve.

The case is a pipe

Another way to curb the antiphase rear radiation was the phase inverter, literally "phase unroller" in Russian. Most often it is a hollow tube mounted on the front or back of the case. The principle of operation is clear from the name and is straightforward: since it is difficult and irrational to get rid of the radiation from the back side of the diffuser, it means you need to synchronize it in phase with the frontal waves and use it for the benefit of the listeners.

The amplitude and phase of the air movement in the phase inverter changes depending on the frequency of the diffuser oscillations

In fact, a pipe with air is an independent oscillatory system that receives an impulse from the movement of air inside the body. Possessing a completely definite resonance frequency, the phase inverter works the more efficiently, the closer the diffuser oscillations to the frequency of its tuning. Sound waves of higher frequencies simply do not have time to move the air in the pipe, and the lower ones, although they have time, but the lower they are, the more the phase of the phase inverter radiation shifts, and, accordingly, its efficiency. When the phase rotation reaches 180 degrees, the tunnel begins to frankly and very effectively muffle the sound of the bass driver. This explains the very steep drop in the sound pressure of the speaker below the bass reflex tuning frequency - 24 dB / oct.

In the fight against turbulent sounds, bass reflex designers are constantly experimenting

In a closed box, by the way, at frequencies below the resonant frequency response, the frequency response is much smoother - 12 dB / oct. However, unlike a blank box, a box with a pipe in the side wall does not force designers to go to any lengths to reduce the resonant frequency of the speaker itself as much as possible, which is quite troublesome and expensive. The bass reflex tunnel is much easier to set up - just select its internal volume. This is, however, in theory. In practice, as always, unforeseen difficulties begin, for example, at high volume levels, the air leaving the hole can make noise almost like the wind in a chimney. In addition, the inertia of the system often causes a drop in attack speed and a deterioration in articulation in bass. In short, the scope for experiments and optimization for the designers of bass reflex systems is simply incredible.

Phase inverter

Pros: Energetic bass response, the ability to reproduce the deepest bass, relative simplicity and low cost of manufacturing (with a fair amount of calculation complexity).

Minuses: In most implementations, it loses to a closed box in attack speed and articulation clarity.

Let's do without a coil

Attempts to get rid of the genetic problems of the phase inverter, and at the same time save on the volume of the case without compromising the depth of the bass, prompted the developers to replace the hollow tube with a membrane driven by vibrations of the same working volume of air. Simply put, another low-frequency driver was installed in a closed box, only without a magnet and a voice coil.

A passive radiator can double the effective surface of the diffuser, or even triple if they are installed in pairs in the same column

The design was named "Passive radiator", which is often not very well translated from English as "passive radiator". Unlike a subwoofer tube, a passive diffuser takes up much less space in the case, is not so critical to the location, and besides, like the air inside a closed box, it dampens the lead driver, smoothing its frequency response.

Passive radiator of the REL S / 5 subwoofer. The main driver is aimed at the floor

Another plus - with an increase in the area of the radiating surface, to achieve the required sound pressure, a smaller vibration amplitude is required, which means that the consequences of the non-linear operation of the suspension are reduced. Both diffusers oscillate in phase, and the resonant frequency of the free membrane is adjusted by precise adjustment of the mass - a weight is simply glued to it.

Passive emitter

Pros: Compact body with impressive bass depth. Lack of bass-reflex overtones.

Minuses: An increase in the mass of the emitting elements leads to an increase in transient distortion and a slower impulse response.

Exit the maze

Armed with bass reflexes and passive radiators, the speakers reproduce deep bass thanks to resonators that work with the mediation of air inside the speaker. However, who said that the volume of a speaker cannot play the role of a low-frequency radiator by itself? Of course it can, and the corresponding design is called an acoustic labyrinth. In fact, it is a half- or quarter-wavelength waveguide at which it is planned to achieve the resonance of the system. In other words, the design is tuned to the lower limit of the speaker frequency range. Of course, using a full wavelength waveguide would be even more efficient, but then for a frequency of, say, 30 Hz, it would have to be made 11 meters long.

The acoustic labyrinth is a favorite design of DIY acousticians. But if desired, the case of the most cunning shape can be ordered ready-made.

In order to accommodate even a twice as compact structure in a column of reasonable dimensions, partitions are installed in the body, forming the most compact curved waveguide with a cross section approximately equal to the area of the diffuser.

The labyrinth differs from the bass reflex in the first place in less "resonant" (that is, not accented at a certain frequency) sound. Relatively low speed and the laminar air movement in a wide waveguide prevents the occurrence of turbulence, which, as we recall, generates unwanted overtones. Besides, in in this case the driver is free from compression, which raises the resonant frequency, because its back radiation meets practically no obstacles.

Scheme for calculating the case on dbdynamixaudio.com

It is believed that acoustic labyrinths create fewer problems with standing waves in a room. However, with the slightest miscalculations in the design or manufacture, standing waves can arise in the waveguide itself, which, unlike a phase inverter, has a much more complex resonance structure.

In general, it must be said that competent calculation and precise tuning of the acoustic labyrinth are very difficult and time-consuming processes. Exactly because of this reason given type cases are found infrequently, and only in speakers of a very serious price level.

Acoustic labyrinth

Pros: Not only good response, but also high tonal bass fidelity.

Minuses: Serious size, very high complexity (read - cost) of creating a properly working structure.

Hey, on the ferry!

The shout is the oldest and perhaps the most provocative type acoustic design... It looks cool, if not outrageous, sounds bright, and at times ... In old films, the heroes sometimes shout something to each other into a megaphone, and the characteristic coloring of such a sound has long become a meme in both the musical and cinematic worlds.

Avantgarde Acoustics Trio with 2.25m Basshorn XD low frequency horn

Of course, the current acoustics have gone very far from a tin funnel with a handle, but the principle of operation is still the same - the horn increases the resistance of the air to better match the relatively high mechanical resistance of the speaker's moving system. Thus, its efficiency increases, and at the same time a clear directionality of the radiation is formed. Unlike all previously described designs, the horn is most commonly used in high-frequency loudspeaker links. The reason is simple - its cross section increases exponentially, and the lower the reproducible frequency, the larger the size of the outlet should be - already at 60 Hz, a bell with a diameter of 1.8 m will be required. It is clear that such monstrous designs are more suitable for stadium concerts, where they really are can be found periodically.

The main trump card of the adherents of horn reproduction is that acoustic amplification allows, at a given sound output, to reduce the membrane travel, which means to raise the sensitivity and improve the musical resolution. Yes, yes, again a nod to the owners of single-stroke tube. In addition, with a competent calculation, the sockets can play the role of acoustic filters, abruptly cutting off the sound outside their band and allowing you to limit yourself to the simplest, and therefore introduce minimal distortion, electric crossovers, and sometimes even do without them.

Realhorns systems - special acoustics for special occasions

Skeptics, on the other hand, do not get tired of reminding about the characteristic horn coloration, especially noticeable on the vocals, and giving it a characteristic nasal tone. It is really not easy to overcome this nuisance, although judging by the way the best samples of High-End horns play, it is quite realistic.

Shout

Pros: High acoustic efficiency, which means excellent sensitivity and good musical resolution of the system.

Minuses: Typical difficult-to-remove sound coloration, non-childish sizes of medium and even more low-frequency structures.

Circles on the water

It is with this analogy that the easiest way to describe the nature of the radiation of counterperture acoustic systems, first developed in the Soviet Union in the 80s of the last century. The principle of operation is non-trivial: a pair of identical speakers are mounted so that their diffusers are located opposite each other in a horizontal plane and move symmetrically, either compressing or expanding the air gap. As a result, circular air waves are created, evenly diverging in all directions. Moreover, the characteristics of these waves in the process of their propagation are distorted to a minimum, and their energy decays slowly - in proportion to the distance, and not to its square, as in the case of conventional speakers.

Duevel Sirius combines horn and counter-aperture design

In addition to range and circular directivity, counter-aperture systems are interesting for their surprisingly wide vertical dispersion (about 30 degrees versus the standard 4-8 degrees), as well as the absence of the Doppler effect. For speakers, it manifests itself in signal beats caused by a constant change in the distance from the sound source to the listener due to the vibrations of the cone. True, the real audibility of these distortions still causes a lot of controversy.

The mutual penetration of concentric sound fields of the right and left speakers creates a very extensive and uniform surround zone, that is, in fact, the issue of precise positioning of the speaker relative to the listener becomes irrelevant.

Bolzano Villetri, Italian-Russian counterpertural acoustics

A characteristic feature of counter-opening is that the sound coming to the listener from virtually all directions, although it creates an impressive effect of presence, cannot fully convey information about the sound stage. Hence the stories of listeners about the feeling of a piano flying around the room and other wonders of virtual spaces.

Counterperture

Pros: A wide area of effective surround perception, naturalistic timbres due to the non-trivial use of wave acoustic effects.

Minuses: The acoustic space is noticeably different from the sound stage conceived when recording a phonogram.

Other...

If you think that this list of design options for speakers is exhausted, then you grossly underestimate the design enthusiasm of electroacoustics. I described only the most popular solutions, leaving behind the scenes a close relative of the labyrinth - a transmission line, a band resonator, a housing with an acoustic impedance panel, load pipes ...

Bowers & Wilkins' Nautilus is one of the most unusual, expensive and reputable speakers around. Design type - load pipes

Such exoticism is quite rare, but sometimes it materializes in a construction with a truly unique sound. And sometimes not. The main thing is not to forget that masterpieces, like mediocrity, are found in all designs, no matter what the ideologists of a particular brand say.

Floorstanding Hi-Fi and Hi-End speakers are speakers intended for home use. Acoustic systems of this type are used to work in stereos, 2.1 complexes or 5.1 and 7.1 home theaters as front satellites. Such acoustics have proven themselves well, as they have good technical characteristics and sufficient power reserve. They also feature a stylish design that complements the home environment and have a removable front bezel with a protective mesh for a more aesthetic look. Metal spikes are included with floor-standing speakers. They are inserted or screwed in as feet to restrict anchoring to the floor to avoid unnecessary resonances. Some manufacturers (,) equip their systems with additional bases.

Choice of floor acoustics

The choice of Hi-Fi and Hi-End class outdoor acoustics is a rather reverent process, in which you must carefully familiarize yourself with the technical characteristics of the system and choose the right power amplifier. The speaker system must be of the same class as the amplifier, and must also be correctly matched in terms of power and impedance parameters. For a high quality system, it is better to give preference to trusted manufacturers such as, and others. It is advisable to select the power of the speakers so that the system works in the nominal mode, that is, it is not subjected to prolonged operation at the maximum power. Particular attention should be paid to the frequency response parameters. The wider the indicators ( numerical value the lower threshold is less, and the upper threshold is more), the wider the range of reproducible frequencies, and therefore the system will sound better.

When connecting Hi-Fi speakers to an amplifier, you should use high quality speaker cables. Among music lovers, it is generally accepted that the speaker cable is 30% of the sound. The cable diameter should be used with a large conductor cross-section, as this provides the lowest resistance and therefore the best signal transmission. High-quality floor-standing acoustics are connected both in the traditional way and by the Bi-Wiring / Bi-Amping type. In this case, the speaker cable will need twice as much, since two cables are used to connect one speaker, that is, the LF and MF / HF sections of the system are switched separately and work independently. For this type of connection, there are metal jumpers on the connection terminals of the speaker, which must be removed before connection. The type of such acoustics connection can be considered on models:,.

The choice of acoustics is not an easy task. It would seem that there are dozens of good models on the market, each with its own characteristics and price. It looks like an identical technique, but with different power and cost, what to look for? Does the size and number of speakers affect the sound quality?

General Column Selection Criteria

Acoustics

First, let's try to figure out what the characteristics "2.0", "5.1" and the like, which are found in the descriptions of audio equipment, mean.

1.0 –portable speakers... The sound quality is not very good, but they are comfortable to travel as they are small in size. - More on how to choose portable speakers.

2.0 –two front speakers... The effects are in stereo mode, your favorite melodies are perfectly sounded, the sound is clearly transmitted when broadcasting films.

2.1 – two front speakers and a subwoofer... Bass is sent to the subwoofer, while other frequencies are sent to the speakers. If you put the first device on the floor and the satellites on the table, watching movies will give you maximum pleasure, all sound effects are perfectly transmitted. For lovers of high-quality sounding music, such a system is not suitable, because the subwoofer drops low frequencies, the sound is slightly distorted.

4.0 – two rear and two front speakers... Provides clear stereo sound, designed for moviegoers, but also suitable for enjoying music.

4.1 – two rear and two front speakers, complemented by another speaker with a subwoofer.

5.1 – two front speakers, two - rear, center and subwoofer... Maximum sound effect guaranteed. Designed for fans of high-quality films and games with special effects.

Power

Here you need to rely not on your preferences, but on the scale of the room. For an average apartment, 25-40 watts per channel is quite enough. If the room is large or your own home, 50-70 watts is acceptable. For those who purchase audio equipment for parties, 60-150 watts are suitable for a large room, and from 120 watts for a street format.

Models of musical centers have been created for discos, in which the emphasis is placed on performance and low frequencies. The best representative of this class is called Sony Shake-66D or LG CM9540. If you buy such equipment for a room, then the sound will not reflect the proper quality and bass, it is designed for a different space.

Frequency range

Clear and clear sound is guaranteed when the frequency of the bands approaches the range of frequencies that can be detected by the ear: from 20 to 20 thousand Hertz. High quality equipment produces sound with higher performance. The lower the frequency, the stronger the bass is felt, and the shooting in games and movies is much brighter. So bass lovers should pay attention to speakers that reproduce a frequency of 10 Hertz, while music lovers will prefer the indicator up to 40 thousand Hertz.

Material

It’s not only design, the sound also depends on the materials. For example, a wooden case gives a better sound quality than a plastic one. Even at high volume, rattling and extraneous noise should not appear. If the model has legs, check if they are well attached to the body, if they are of the same length. If the speaker stands unevenly, then the sound will also "float".

Models from MDF are considered to be of the highest quality, from chipboard - more fragile, they do not tolerate moisture well. Plastic wear out quickly. Aluminum protects the case well, but distorts the sound.

Speakers for TV have their own sound characteristics, they also need to be considered when buying.

  1. Sensitivity... Responsible for the sound volume, the higher it is, the louder the sound. If the indicators are high, then an amplifier is not needed, the data for this indicator are noted in the technical book. Acoustics with low sensitivity pulls up to 88 decibels, with high - from 94 to 102 decibels.
  2. Power... A rule is important here: the power of the amplifier should not be higher than the power of the speakers, otherwise the equipment will simply burn out. For a small room - up to 17 square meters, 80 watts is enough.
  3. Frame... The best is considered to be equipped with a bass reflex; the closed-type version will be simpler. If you need low frequencies, we choose floor-standing acoustics, and for high frequencies - installed on the shelves.
  4. Soundbar... It is called the "magic wand" that will improve any audio system. For the TV, it is worth choosing an acoustic stand when the equipment is placed on the speaker.

Speaker dimensions must match the TV stand!

From this series, the models LG, Maxell, Panasonic and Denon have proven themselves well. Great sound, when watching movies it feels like the sound is coming straight from the center. But there are also negative aspects. The soundbar stand does not cover a wide range, low bass can be felt. High-quality models give an excellent level, but by design they are little provided for TVs.

If you are sure that you cannot do without a soundbar, you should consider the following points:

  1. If the device will be placed far from the TV, it is recommended to equip the equipment with a Bluetooth receiver. The aptX audio codec will sound good, but it is important to keep in mind that wireless acoustics for a TV is characterized by an unstable signal.
  2. For a room of 20 squares, you can choose a power of 50 watts. If the TV will stand in a room that has about 30 squares, it is better to choose a power potential of 100 watts. Further - on the rise. The main thing is to find out when buying whether the TV, according to its parameters, can transmit sound through a stand or a set of soundbars.

In home theaters, speakers are divided into:

  • central, provide quality and sound effects;
  • front, play music and audio effects;
  • rear, support the acoustics in general.

Without a subwoofer, the bass sound degrades and the reproduction load is thrown onto the front speakers.

There are models of wired and wireless connection:

  • passive, receive a signal from the central unit;
  • active, they are used through a 220 volt power supply.

Build options

For the assembly of a home theater, two schemes have been developed: boxed and individual. The second requires the involvement of specialists and solid financial investments, since the parts are selected at the request of the customer and adjusted to the model. It is more convenient and simpler, the so-called box-type, when the equipment is assembled in the form in which it was purchased. Here it is worth taking a closer look at the model with wireless rear acoustics, this one costs a little more. The set includes an additional unit - a wireless amplifier for rear speakers, it picks up the signal from the central unit. Power supply - from 220 Volts, you will also need wires to the rear speakers.

Power

What is the optimal power for home theater applications? The simplest calculation is 8-10 watts per square. If the room is up to 20 square meters, feel free to buy a system up to 200 watts. For this technique, models of 2 classes have been developed:

  • Hi-Fi. It reproduces sound well, the cost is moderate.
  • Hi-End. The sound quality is much better, but the price is also higher.

For home theaters with a large diagonal, systems with a total power of up to 500 watts can be used.

The data sheet usually indicates the highest peak power, and for each manufacturer it is measured differently.

Speakers for music

Experienced buyers will certainly study the data sheet and the characteristics indicated in it. When buying home appliances, it is important to consider:

  1. Loudspeaker sensitivity... It is a characteristic of the degree of voice pressure. For example, if you connect speakers of different sensitivity to one amplifier, those in which this indicator is higher will reproduce the sound more. Better to navigate from 90 decibels.
  2. Frequency range... We pick up sound from 16 Hertz to 20 kilo Hertz, so the optimal range is 18-20 kilo Hertz.
  3. Impedance... Standard - 4.6 or 8 ohms. If you are planning an amplifier, you can choose a model with any indicators.
  4. The biggest longest electric power ... The data sheet usually indicates the largest or short-term one, and it is important for you to know which speakers can give out as long as possible, without damaging the equipment. It is better to buy a system that has 30% more power than the power of the amplifier. For a home, 30-100 watts are enough.

When buying speakers, experts advise looking at these important details:

  1. The system sensitivity must be at least 75 decibels.
  2. In active devices, amplified speakers are provided, partitive filters are located at the output of the amplifiers.
  3. Connection type. The most convenient is with a mini jack cable.
  4. To save space, it is better to choose wall-mounted models.
  5. Before buying, be sure to listen to the sound, insisting that the amplifier has only a tone stabilizer. Sometimes sellers use a multi-band equalizer to tweak the frequency range.
  6. The sound source connected to the amplifier should only be a CD or DVD player with an Audio-CD disc. MP3 knocks down the sound of even expensive models.

Which columns to choose is up to you. But before you pay for them, take a few minutes to listen to the sound at different volume levels. This will help to avoid unpleasant surprises later when connecting appliances at home. Do not forget about the warranty card and technical instructions to defend your rights if you forget to take something into account.
