Installing the program and adding files to the project

First you need to go to the official website and install the software on your PC. After that, you need to run the program and open the folder with the necessary files... Using the mouse, drag the photo and video to the work panel, which is located at the bottom of the program window. You can add files individually using the green down arrow button, or add the contents of the entire folder at once using the green arrow button on the folder. The red arrow is for deleting files from the project.

Microphone sound recording

To create a recording, go to the "Music" tab, then to "Voice Comments" and click "Record from Microphone". Select the format (MP3, WAV, FLAC), select the mode (mono or stereo), bit rate and frequency. Then click "Start Recording" and select a folder to save the recording. After stopping recording, click "Add to Project".

The program allows you to add multiple entries. To do this, on the "Voice Comments" tab, click on the button with the green plus. You can create new entry or add a finished audio file previously saved on your computer. Added entries are displayed on the timeline below working panel... Using the mouse, recordings can be moved and positioned anywhere in the video.

Saving a video

When the video is ready, go to the "Create" tab, select the appropriate format and start the conversion process. The program allows you to burn the finished film directly to DVD. In this case, you can independently design the menu by adding a background image, an inscription and even music.

The Russian-language analogue of Sony Vegas Pro is not only a video scoring program, but in it you can also add bright screensavers, animated titles, light effects, various transitions and much more to your project. Using all the features of the program, you can make a film from photos and videos, a video tutorial with your own voice acting or a slideshow of photos from a holiday.

Instructions

Collect the text you are going to overlay into one file. Adjust the formatting of the document so that no replica breaks up into fragments located on different pages... Print the prepared file and secure the sheets so that you can easily see the text while writing.

Attach the microphone to the stand or position it so that it does not touch the body during operation. Place a pop filter in front of the microphone to help neutralize plosive consonants when recording. Such a filter can be made of thick tights, in two layers stretched over any frame of a suitable size, like a small hoop.

Connect your microphone to your computer. Run Adobe program Audition and select Edit View from the Workspace list. In the window that opens with the Windows Recording Mixer option from the Options menu, select the input through which the microphone is connected and adjust the volume. Use the Ctrl + N keys to create a new file in the editor and specify the sound parameters: sampling frequency and number of channels. To start recording, click on the Record button in the Transport palette.

Record a few seconds of silence before reading the text. You use this snippet in post-processing to capture the noise profile. Being at least twenty centimeters from the microphone, read the text. This is best done while standing. If you mispronounced a phrase, read it a second time. When editing, the spoiled take will be cut out.

After finishing recording, click on the Stop button of the Transport palette and save the file to HDD the Save option of the File menu.

Select the area of the recording before the beginning of the text and capture the noise profile from it using the Alt + N combination. Use the Noise Reduction option in the Restoration group of the Effects menu to remove background noise from the recording. Use the Normalize option of the Amplitude group in the same menu to level the sound volume.

Listen to the resulting recording. Select and delete the damaged fragments with the Delete key. Cut the recording into separate phrases by selecting the desired fragment and applying the Cut option of the Edit menu. To paste sound into a new file, use the Paste to New option of the same menu.

In the Workspace field, switch to Video + Audio Session mode. Use the Import option of the File menu to load the movie you are dubbing into the editor. If in the Files palette only files with icons in the form of a sound wave are visible, use the Show button video file s from the bottom of the palette.

Click on the file with the film-shaped icon to call context menu, and select the Insert Into Multitrack option. The original video sound will appear on one of the tracks in the editor window, and the image will be visible in the Video palette.

Place the cursor on the section where you want to start the first phrase of the voice-over, and insert the file with the desired text using the Insert Into Multitrack option into one of the audio tracks. To change the start time of the phrase, hold down right button mouse and drag the file along the track. Paste the rest of the fragments in the same way.

To combine the recorded sound with the original or background music included in the soundtrack of the movie, you will need to change the volume in some parts of the tracks. This can be done by constructing an envelope curve using key points. Place the cursor over the line at the top of the track and click on it. By moving the created point down, you get a smooth decrease in the volume on the selected track from the beginning to the inserted point.

If it turns out that the phrase is pronounced too quickly, click on the desired track and call the context menu. Selecting the Edit Source File option will return you to the editing window, where you can apply the Stretch option in the Time / Pitch group of the Effects menu to change the sound speed of the fragment.

To save the video with the new audio, return to Video + Audio mode and select the Video option in the Export group of the File menu. If you want to keep only the audio and insert it into the movie using another program, use the Audio Mixdown option.

If you are shooting a movie, video or cartoon, it is almost always necessary to voice the characters and add other musical accompaniment. Similar actions are done using special programs, the functionality of which includes the ability to record sound. In this article, we have selected several representatives of such software for you. Let's take a closer look at them.

The first on our list is Video editor from Movavi. This program contains many useful functions for video editing, but now we are only interested in the ability to record sound, and it is present here. There is a special button on the toolbar, clicking on which will take you to a new window, where you will need to configure several parameters.

Of course, Movavi Video The Editor is not suitable for professional stunt doubles, but it is quite enough for amateur sound recording. The user just needs to indicate the source, set the required quality and set the volume. The finished audio recording will be added to the corresponding line on the editor and it will be possible to edit it, apply effects, cut into parts and change the volume parameters. Movavi Video Editor is distributed for a fee, but a free trial is available on the developer's official website.

VirtualDub

Next we will consider another graphics editor, this will be VirtualDub. This program is distributed completely free of charge and provides a huge number of different tools and functions. It also has the ability to record sound and overlay it over video.

In addition, it is worth noting a large number of different audio settings that will definitely come in handy for many users. The recording is simple enough. You just need to click on a specific button, and the created track will be automatically added to the project.

MultiControl

If you work with time-lapse animation and create cartoons using this technology, then you can sound the finished project using the MultiPult program. Its main task is to generate animation from ready-made pictures. There are all the necessary tools for this, including recording an audio track.

However, not everything is so rosy, since there are no additional settings, the track cannot be edited, and only one audio track is added for one project. "MultiPult" is distributed free of charge and is available for download on the official website of the developer.

Ardor

Last on our list is the Ardor digital workstation. Its advantage over all previous representatives is that its purpose is focused precisely on working with sound. It contains all the necessary settings and tools to achieve great sound. In one project, you can add an unlimited number of tracks with vocals or instruments, they will be distributed by the editor, and are also available for sorting into groups, if necessary.

Before you start dubbing, it's best to import the video into your project to simplify the process itself. It will also be added to the multitrack editor on a separate line. Use additional settings and parameters to flatten the sound, make it clear, and trim it to match the video.

This article contains far from all suitable programs, because there are many video and audio editors on the market that allow you to record sound from a microphone, thereby creating voiceovers for films, clips or cartoons. We tried to select for you diverse software that would suit different user groups.

In this article, you, habr, will not find tips on which microphone is better to choose. With this question, I recommend reading the posts Microphones, microphones and microphones again. Part # 1, Microphones, Podcaster View # 2 and Microphones, 3rd Podcaster View.
Also, you will not find advices about the quality of the videos here. If you need quality, I recommend reading the good article Attempting to translate and dub a video at home.

There are situations when you really like this or that video, but you cannot show it to your friends, because they still do not know English / Spanish / German / any other language. But you know him, and at least you can make subtitles for watching a video, or maybe you even aim at dubbing voice acting, without having to spend 100 American rubles on a microphone, and even more of the same American rubles for sound processing software.
I'll show you how to subtitle or dub something that almost every home has.

So, since you're here, habrauser, let me start.
The list of devices / programs that will be needed for voice acting:

Creation of subtitles.

As I already wrote, you can use the Aegisub program to create them. On the official download page there is an opportunity to download the interface russification, but I still could not configure it. But this will not prevent you from mastering the program - everything is intuitively simple.

First of all, we need to open the video file for which we will create subtitles. We select the item "Video" in the menu, and in it "Open Video ...", and in the dialog that opens, open our file.
Once selected, it appears in the upper left pane of the window. But that is not all. If you click on "Play" now (ie turn on the video), then it will be silent. This is not convenient for us, so we need to add sound. This can be done through the menu item "Audio" -> "Open Audio from Video".
Thus, we get the following window:

  • red - start time of the current text
  • green - end time of the current text
  • yellow - display text
  • blue - a list of all texts, indicating the time of action

So, let's start creating subtitles. On the left, above the blue area, there are three keys. Click on the first one, "Play". As soon as we hear the text, we press pause. Usually, speech does not start from the first second of the video - first there is a splash screen, or just music. Therefore, we do not start creating subtitles from the first second.
So, we pressed pause, and we see from what second the speech begins. We indicate this time in the red field. After that, you can continue playing the video, and record the text that should be displayed in the subtitles in the yellow area. When the phrase is logically completed, indicate in the red field the time when the phrase should be hidden from the screen.
Now you can move on to the second phrase. In the blue area of the screen, right-click on the current subtitle line, and select the "Insert (after)" item there. A second line will appear, with the start time equal to the end time of the previous line.
We repeat entering text and adding lines until we enter all the required subtitles.
Here is a screenshot of the last project I did.

If suddenly in the process of creating a video, the time of some subtitles will overlap others, the program will highlight the "competing" lines in red, and you will need to align their display time.
In addition, the text is immediately displayed on top of the video, and you can evaluate the result of your work.
In general, the program has rich functionality, but I will not describe it - I indicated the main points, otherwise, I hope you can figure it out.

By saving the project in the format of this program, you will not be able to connect this file to all players, and you will not be able to upload it to YouToube. To do this, the subtitles must be exported. Click in the menu "File" -> "Export Subtitles ...", a window will open in which we also press the "Export" button, and specify the file for subtitles (be sure to indicate the extension in the file name, I use subtitles in srt format, they are normally loaded on YouToube).
Perhaps this is all I can tell you about creating subtitles.

Sound creation.

  • noise removal
  • normalization
  • volume change
  • auto mute

But first things first.
First of all, you need to free the room from all extraneous friends / relatives. The first 5-10 takes will probably make you laugh with them, but then it becomes very annoying, makes it difficult to concentrate, and to record your voice normally.
Next, click on the red button on the top panel of the program - recording has begun. After that, we switch to the subtitle program, and there we also start video playback. The current subtitle line is highlighted in a yellowish color, and I always know exactly where I am in the text, what came before that and what will come next. This is very important point, believe me.
Of course, you noticed that there was a hitch between the start of the recording and the start of the video while switching between programs. This is not at all important, and in the future I will show how to get rid of this gap of emptiness.
So, two screenshots. The first one shows the position of windows on the desktop before starting recording.

And the second, shows my screen right after the start of the recording.

So far, we are not very worried about what happens in the dictaphone. Let him write slowly. If your voice sounds too quiet, don't try to change anything now. It will be possible to process the sound only after the entire sound track has been prepared, otherwise the gaps between takes will be too noticeable by ear.
So, we recorded about 30 seconds of text, and the voice began to "sink" - stutter, confuse letters and the like. You don't have to start over, you can just continue recording.
For this:

After that, in order to continue recording, we will only have to repeat the steps with the beginning of the recording. At the same time, I recommend putting the video at the beginning of the previous subtitles (in the screenshot from the 22nd second), and when the video comes to the 27th, press the red button in the recorder.
As a result, we will get several tracks for the entire length of the video clip. (there is a very useful edge button with a magnifying glass on the middle panel of the recorder, which allows you to fit the entire project into the width of the window)

However, we need to work with them as with one, so we select in the menu "Tracks" -> "Concatenate to last track".

Sound processing

So, we have a single audio track. We begin to comb her hair.
First of all, you need to normalize the sound.
"Effects" -> "Signal normalization". We leave all the parameters as they are, just click "OK".
It happens that after normalization there are "roosters", because of which the whole sound is heard quite quietly. The screenshot shows an example of such a "rooster":

To combat such moments, you can use a tool from the menu "Effects" -> "Amplify Signal" (be sure to select this piece of audio so that the effect is applied only to it).
I entered the value "-3.8", then removed the selection and applied normalization again.
I got this picture:

As you can see on the screen (or listen if you have already recorded the sample), the sound is full of extraneous noises.
This recorder has a function just for this situation.
First, we need to create a sample of the noise, which we will remove:

  • select a fragment of the track where there is no our voice (only extraneous noises)
  • select in the menu "Effects" -> "Noise Removal"
  • in the window that opens, press the button "Create noise model"
  • remove selection
  • again select in the menu "Effects" -> "Noise Removal"
  • click "OK"

As a result, we get such a clean track:

Agree, now the sound is much nicer, and it looks better =)
However, there are still occasional clicks, noises (and before each phrase I also hear aspiration as I draw air into my lungs).
Getting rid of this is as easy as shelling pears. Select the fragment that you want to remove, and select in the menu "Create" -> "Silence ..." -> "OK".
For example, at the beginning I removed the keyboard sound from switching between windows and pressing the "Play" button on the video.

We save the project in the recorder, so far we have finished with it.

Getting audio track from video

If the video contains nothing but voice, and you do not want to hear the sound of the original in the background, then you can skip the next two points.
However, I consider it a sign of good tone to sound the original in the background (only if it does not completely cover my voice), and this recorder makes it very convenient to lower the volume of the original track, and return it to those places where I am silent.

I am using avitomp3 program to get mp3 file from video file. I am sure that in this part many can go their own way, the main thing is that as a result we get an audio track in an mp3 file.
Using the program is simple - click the Add button, select our file, specify the parameters of the audio file (I recommend saving immediately in a mono channel, for home video it will be quite normal), the save folder and click on the large round button with arrows at the bottom right.

Mixing two tracks

So, back to our record. In the screenshot, I took my own instead of an example. real work on dubbing. It is necessary to add to the already existing track the recording that we just extracted from the video file.
This can be done by the menu item "File" -> "Import" -> "Sound file ..."
If you remember, I asked you not to focus on the fact that the recording of your voice starts before the video starts playing?
It's time to figure it out.
Usually, seeing two tracks at once, it is possible to determine directly by eye where the lag of our track from the video is.
The top track is from the video file, the bottom track is the one that I recorded on the microphone.

On the bottom track, I marked the lag time of my voice from the moment when the speech begins in the original video. At the bottom, you can see that the selection starts at the 6 seconds and 321 milliseconds position, and that chunk is 950 milliseconds.
Now we need to cut these 950 milliseconds from the beginning of the file. To do this, simply write zeros instead of 6.321, and our selection moves to the beginning of the file.
Now, to remove this segment, it is enough to apply the already familiar operation "Edit" -> "Remove Audio or Labels" -> "Delete".

The track from the video file must be moved above our audio track, and select it entirely. After that, apply "Effects" -> "Auto Mute ..."
We specify the settings as in my screenshot:

And we get these changes in the track from the video:

This is the last step in working with our soundtrack. Now you can save the project file itself (if you plan to change something in it in the future), and export these two tracks to an mp3 file.
You can export accordingly through the menu "File" -> "Export".

Replacing a track in a video file

Finally the time has come latest app on my list. We open it.
Open our video file. "File" -> "Open video file ...".
We indicate that we do not need to do anything with the video. We do this by choosing "Video" -> "Direct stream copy" from the menu.
And now we start working with audio tracks. Go to the menu "Streams" -> "Stream list".
Now we have one track there, from a video file. Click the "Disable" button at the bottom right to disable it.
And add our mp3 file using the "Add" button.

If you want, you can upload it to YouToube or any other hosting. For subtitles, we specify the file with the * .srt extension, which we created at the very beginning.
I can link to my file, which I did this way. If you ignore the accent and my boring voice, I think it turned out pretty well.

Perhaps this article does not correspond to the level of the IT sphere of Habr, but I do not urge everyone to go now and record professional takes based on this article.
But I hope that this article will explain the main difficulties in recording your translations, or just dubbing a video, and will finally allow you to do the very thing that you have been going to do for a year, but still you will not find time to study the issue.
I wish you good luck with your creativity, and if there is useful tips or comments - I'll be happy to read them in the comments.

Many people love to read books, and they do it at home, at work, on vacation and even on the road. Everyone likes various literary genres and directions, some people cannot even imagine life without their favorite books. Sometimes it happens that we need not only visual reading, but also voice-over of the text (this can be implemented on various sites of available content).

Here we will be helped by various Internet sites and resources that have voice engines and allow the user to reproduce texts in different voices. What is online voice scoring? What sites and services are designed for such work and how to quickly use them?

Useful video on the topic (1 minute):

Online text reading

Most often, the voice acting of text online is quite simple and is, rather, a tool aimed at increasing the capabilities of the engine selected by the user, rather than voice acting large and long text files. Free of charge voice over text files on many sites it will be limited to 250-300 characters, and you will have to pay your own money for full use of the site to reproduce larger volumes of texts.

The scheme of work with such sites is similar everywhere: first, you go to the selected site, put in the window the one you need text file and click on the play icon. The site reproduces your file, and you listen and try to understand whether you liked the work of the site and whether it is worth working with it further.

Text-to-speech software

The network has many services that can speak text files, but we will present you only the most popular ones:

  • Acapela service.

One of the very first resources dedicated to the voice reproduction of text. The engine has a fairly high quality of voice acting, also presented here choice of male or female voice at your request (Russian is represented by only one female voice Alyona). Number of characters provided for free version reproduction, reaches 300, for larger texts you will have to pay a fee.

To use the site's features, first go to it. In the left window, select the language you need, change English to Russian, enter the text in the “tupe your text her” window and tick the “I agree with text and condition” box. Next, to listen to the text, click on the Listen icon.

  • Google Translate service.

This translator from google systems can also be used as a voiceover for some texts. The advantages of the site are the absence of a strict restriction on several hundred characters and absolutely free use site. The main disadvantage of the site is its voice acting, since it can be several times inferior to sites with paid content.

To listen to the text, it will be enough to go to the site, insert your text and click on the speaker icon. Playback will start automatically.

  • Linguatec service.

Another resource that also has a character limitation. Here volume in reproduction reaches 250 characters (for full use site also needs payment), and the quality of the voice acting on this site cannot be called the best.

To listen to your text, you need to go to the site and select Russisch in the language settings, you will also have a choice of voices, male or female. After, in empty window you need to insert your text and click on the play button at the bottom of the screen.

  • Service Text - to - Speech.

One of the many talkers, in her work is similar to the previous ones. Here number of free symbols much higher - about 1000, voice acting and reproduction are at a decent level. Use is possible after going to the site. Here you change the language from English to Russian and enter the text you want in the window. Then you should click on the Say it icon.

  • IVONA service.

Another popular online service for reading text files. This resource has the most high-quality and convenient engine from the above sites. But the disadvantage of the site is its exclusively paid work... If earlier on the site it was possible to listen to several sentences and test the quality, now this opportunity is no longer there.

A few more programs for reading text by voice

On the Internet, there are talkers not only with online work, but also those that you can easily download to yourself on Personal Computer... The most famous of them are Govorilka and Sacrament Talker.

  • Govorilka program.

A small program for reading any text file by means of voice playback. There is a possibility convert read text into files formats such as audio wav and mp3. The size of the file that is played in the program should not exceed 2 gigabytes, there is also a convenient adjustment of the reading speed, voice volume and illumination of the read at your request. To work with the program, you need to download it from an Internet resource, install it on a PC and run it. Next, enter a text file into an empty window and click on the file playback icon.

  • Sacrament Talker program.

Another source for dubbing your file is the Sacrament Talker program. This resource has its own universal engine Sakrament TTS Engine 3.0 and six different voices in Russian. The program is able to work with voluminous and large text files, while the program has an excellent soundtrack, not inferior to other online sites and PC programs.

The work with the text is carried out in the same way as in the previous program.

Application for playing text by voice on a mobile device

There are many mobile applications for reading books that have built-in voice reading of text materials in their functionality. This function can be used by any user application data. Among these readers are: Cool Reader, Normad Reader, FBReader, EBookDroid and many others. All of these programs have an automatic function of reading documents; to use them, the user must review the program settings.

conclusions

For online playback of text by voice, you can use many different programs, both free and paid, at your discretion. Wherein v free programs the number of symbols goes without limitation, and in paid ones it is limited to a few hundred, for a larger volume of text in this case you will have to pay. Which site to choose and which to use is up to you.
