The difference between Windows 10 pro and corporate. Windows Evaluation Versions. System options for different countries

Microsoft started shipping Windows 10 back in 2015. From that moment on, users were able to upgrade their devices to this distribution for free if they had previously used Windows 7 or a later version. Also on sale are new PCs with OS 10 preinstalled.

Later, a "shell" of this series appeared for phones, Xbox game consoles and other devices. The first flavors of Windows 10 were designed for computers, laptops and tablets (for devices with a screen size of 8 inches or more).

Initially, there were four versions of the new PC OS: Home, Pro, Enterprise and Education. In 2017, several more variants of this distribution were released.

New shell functions

Microsoft representatives detailed the differences between the versions of the new OS even before it was released to the market. All system variants contain a new menu (classic Windows 10 Start view) and a web Edge browser as well as Cortana personal assistant software, support for new security features, including face and fingerprint recognition. Also available everywhere is the ability to use a virtual desktop and seamlessly transition from PC to tablet mode when you disconnect the keyboard.

When it comes to business functions, things look a little different. Windows 10 Home does not support BitLocker encryption, Windows Remote Desktop, Group Policy Management, Enterprise Data Protection, or some other features that require Pro and others.

In the meantime, Enterprise users get some features not available for Windows 10 Pro, including AppLocker, To Go Creator, Credential Guard, and Device Guard.

For the most part, the Education version is the same as the Enterprise version. It's just intended for educational use, not business.

One of the Enterprise-only features is the Long Term Service Branch. It means that corporate clients may delay Windows updates that provide new features for years, while continuing to receive security updates.

The following should be noted. While upgrading your device to Windows 10 will introduce some new features, you will also lose some of the features that were available in more earlier versions OS. Built-in support for DVD playback is no longer present, but you will be able to install third-party video players that will be able to handle this format... In addition, Windows Media Center is also not available for dozens distribution.

Types of Windows 10 and their differences

Windows 10 currently has twelve editions with varying feature sets, capabilities, or device-specific specifications. Some editions only apply to devices directly from the manufacturer, while other OS options (such as Enterprise and Education) are available only through volume licensing channels. Microsoft also introduced Windows 10 for use on certain classes of devices, including smartphones (Windows 10 Mobile) and IoT devices. It is advisable to compare all types of Windows 10 and the differences between them, starting with the most common versions.

Variant 10 Home is designed for use on PCs, tablets and PCs "2 in 1". This version includes all required functions and opportunities aimed at the non-professional consumer.

Windows 10 Pro has additional functionality for business and power users. In terms of performance and performance, this OS is equivalent to Windows 8.1 Pro. It has Windows 10, and its features are expressed in the presence of additional professional applications and services.

Corporate publications

These editions of Windows 10 contain special features designed to facilitate centralized management many OS installations within the organization. The main source of their acquisition is a volume licensing contract with Microsoft.

Windows 10 Enterprise brings all the features of 10 Pro with additional functions designed for work in IT organizations. This OS is functionally equivalent to Windows 8.1 Enterprise.

Windows 10 Education is distributed through Academic Volume Licensing. It was originally reported to have the same feature set as Enterprise. However, it offers slightly fewer options.

In July 2016, Education Pro was released to target hardware partners on new devices purchased with a discounted K-12 academic license. This OS variant contains the Set Up School PCs application, which allows you to configure settings using a USB flash drive. Education Pro does not include Cortana functionality, Windows Store or Spotlight.

Enterprise LTSB is a long-term look of Windows 10 Enterprise that is scheduled to be released every 2-3 years. It is supported by security updates for 10 years after release, and will not receive any feature updates on purpose. Some features including Windows Store and related applications are not included in this edition. The 2019 release of this version is expected to be named Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC.

Enterprise provides all the features of the Mobile version with additional capabilities to help IT-based organizations in the same way as Enterprise, but exclusively for mobile devices.

Selected device releases

These kinds of Windows 10 are licensed only to device manufacturers. The main way to get hold of these OS options is by purchasing a specific device (such as a smartphone), but which the system is pre-installed.

Windows 10 Mobile is designed for smartphones and small tablets. It includes all major consumer features including Continuum capabilities. De facto, it is a follower Windows Phone 8.1 and RT.

The IoT version is designed specifically for use in small sites, low cost devices, and IoT scenarios. This is a rebranded version of the earlier builtins operating systems Microsoft - Windows Embedded. Three releases have already been announced: IoT Core, IoT Enterprise, and IoT Mobile Enterprise.

S versions

S is a limited version of Windows 10 designed primarily for devices with limited capabilities in the education market. It has a faster initial setup and logon process, and a generally simplified Windows 10 look and feel. It also allows you to configure devices using a USB drive with School PCs Setup.

Windows 10 S Allows Installation software(both Universal Platform and API applications) from the Windows Store, although the programs command line or shells are not allowed.

System settings are locked, Microsoft Edge set as your default web browser, with Bing as your search engine. The operating system can be upgraded to Windows 10 Pro for a fee to allow unlimited software installation. All 10 S devices include a free one-year Minecraft: Education Edition subscription. Critics compared the edition to Windows RT and called it a competitor to Chrome OS.

In March 2018, Microsoft announced the phasing out Windows work 10 S, citing confusion between manufacturers and end users. The company plans to replace this edition with the ability for vendors to release devices on Home or Pro versions in "S Mode", where by default it is allowed to install applications from the Windows Store with free disabling restrictions.

Highly specialized versions

What are the highly specialized types of Windows 10 and their differences?

In addition to the main OS versions, the developers presented several options unknown to a wide range of users. They are designed to work on some strictly defined devices and to solve specific problems. What versions of Windows 10 are there besides the ones listed above?

Team Windows 10 Team is a version dedicated to Surface Hub upload devices.

On August 10, 2017, Microsoft announced the release of the Pro for Workstations edition in September, along with the Fall Creators update for Windows 10. This version is designed for high performance equipment for intensive computing tasks... It supports Intel Xeon or AMD Opteron processors. Other device requirements include RAM up to 6TB, file system ReFS, Non (Non-Volatile Dual Linear Memory Module (NVDIMM)), and Remote Direct Memory Access (RDMA). On December 15, 2017, this version was pre-installed on two Dell workstations. Windows 10 Home, Pro, and S views may upgrade to this version. This version, in turn, can be customized to Pro Education, Enterprise or Education.

System options for different countries

As in previous versions of Windows, starting with XP, all editions of Windows 10 for hardware PCs have “N” and “KN” variations targeting Europe and South Korea, which exclude certain related multimedia features, including media players and related components, in order to comply with antitrust regulations. How to 10 Classic View to get full access to multimedia?

The Media Feature Pack can be installed to restore these features. As with Windows 8.1, a low-cost version 10 with Bing is available for OEMs. It is provided in cases where search system from Microsoft is installed by default and cannot be changed to another search engine. The version is intended primarily for low-cost devices, and is otherwise identical to Windows 10 Home.

Microsoft OEM licensing formula takes into account screen size, volume random access memory and storage capacity. In general, this version has a standard Windows 10 look.

In May 2017, it was reported that Microsoft, as part of its partnership with China Electronics Technology Group, has created a specially modified Enterprise version intended for use in branches of the Chinese government. This option is preconfigured to “remove features that are not needed by Chinese government officials” and allows for its own internal encryption algorithms. The change Windows view 10 in this case not available.

Free upgrade

During the launch of the 10th version of the OS, Microsoft representatives announced that Windows users 7 (with Service Pack 1), 8 and 8.1 can upgrade to 10 free of charge if updated within one year of its release date. RT and the corresponding Enterprise OS 7, 8, and 8.1 have been excluded from this proposal.

New releases of Windows 10, called feature updates, are released twice a year as free update for existing users. Each update contains new features and other changes to the operating system. The rate of change at which the system receives feature updates depends on the release branch from which the OS downloads the updates. Main types Windows versions 10 - Pro, Enterprise and Education - can additionally use a branch that receives updates at a slower pace. These modes can be controlled with system settings, Windows services Server Update Services (WSUS), Windows Update for Business, group policy, or through mobile device management systems such as Microsoft Intune.

Windows Insider

Windows Insider is a beta testing program that lets you access preview versions of Windows 10. It is designed to enable power users, developers, and vendors to test and provide feedback on future feature updates for Windows 10 as they are developed. Insider itself consists of three "rings" - Fast (which receives new builds as they are released), Slow (which receives them when delayed after deployment to Fast Ring users), and Release Preview.

Semi-annual channel (target)

Semi-Annual Channel (Targeted), formerly known as Current Branch (CB), propagates all feature updates when they finish Windows check Insider. Microsoft only supports latest version... In this case, additional settings to pause or postpone feature updates for a specified period of time. It's worth noting that they are not available on Windows 10 Home.

Semi-Annual Business Channel

The 6-month business channel, formerly known as the Current Branch for Business (CBB), delivers feature updates with a four-month delay from the target. This allows customers and suppliers to evaluate innovations and perform additional checks before widespread release. Devices can be switched back to the target channel at any time.

Long Term Service Channel (LTSB)

This thread is exclusively available for the Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB release, and it distributes new editions that are updated every 2-3 years. LTSB designs follow traditional policies Microsoft support which was valid until version 10: the OS is not endowed with new features, but only supported by critical updates for 10 years after release. They do not affect the Windows Store, most of Cortana's features and additional applications(including Microsoft Edge).

Released in several versions. The Pro and Home versions immediately became available to users, the rest are intended for corporate use (Enterprise) and educational institutions (Education).

Concerning appearance, then it is the same for all editions: the Start menu returned, which combined elements of both 7 and 8 versions of the OS. The design has become more stylish compared to Windows 7. Also appeared virtual assistant Cortana.

Windows 10 Home and Pro updates are available for regular users, and many have questions about this. Which system should you choose to install on your computer?

Windows 10 Home

Differences between different assemblies may not be noticed by every user. The Home version is standard and suitable for home use. It is planned to install it on the majority of commercially available devices.

Windows 10 Home innovations:

  • Windows Hello is a new way to authenticate. Includes the ability to unlock the computer by fingerprint, iris, or face settings. As planned by the developers, it is planned that new function will reliably protect user data.
  • Hiberboot and InstaGo. These features provide quick wake-up and boot-up times.
  • Microsoft Edge - new browser, which replaced the well-known. After failures with old version reviewer, the company decided that it was no longer possible to fix it and completely replaced it with a completely new one.
  • Virtual desktops. This feature was not present in any of the previous versions of Windows, now the user can use as many desktops as he wants on one device.

But not all innovations are positively assessed. The disadvantage of Windows 10 Home is that the user has been decided by the choice of the update methods.

Windows 10 Pro

The innovations that appeared in Windows 10 Home are in the professional version. But Windows 10 Pro users have a lot more control over which updates to install and how they work across different networks. This option can be used as a home option, but the main focus is on small business owners: data protection has been increased, many functions for processing and working with documents, and so on.

Windows 10 Pro differs from Enterprise in some respects, but in general it is suitable for running not only small but also medium-sized businesses.

If we talk about updates, then the user will be able to receive not only standard updates, but new ones for programs and security systems that are focused on business. Also, in the Windows 10 Pro version, you can independently configure the type of updates to install, set a schedule for them, or refuse them altogether.

Since the professional version is still intended for doing business, it strengthens the security of data storage, including those that are in the cloud.

Comparing Windows 10 Pro to Windows 10 Home, it has the following advantages:

  • support different devices and advanced management;
  • encryption methods for data transmission over enterprise networks;
  • a wider list of networking standards;
  • remote control, access to office printers and general documents;
  • work with the cloud;
  • if necessary, for a small fee, this version can be upgraded to Enterprise;
  • group policy management.

All of the above functions are not very necessary for an ordinary user and basically simplify doing business, as they relate to working with documents. In principle, with the availability of specialized software and proper use, Pro version can solve problems for large business, although there is a separate assembly for it - Enterprise.

In general, both in the Pro version and in Home, the basic components are the same, the only difference is in the tools for business.

If the average user does not need business components, then the home edition will perfectly cope with all the tasks. But the professional version is also suitable for home use.

As for the price, it is not democratic at all for both versions, to put it mildly. There are two ways to purchase - either update the existing one, or download the system image from the official website. The version to which the system is updated depends on the preinstalled OS.

But soon the term of the free Windows update will end and you will still have to purchase it. By the way, if the user has an old system of the Enterprise category, then it will not be possible to take advantage of the free update.

The corporate version of Windows 10 is one of the best assemblies of the operating system from Microsoft that you can download for your computer.

Microsoft's Marketing Policy recent times introduces the division of operating system versions depending on the target audience for which each specific edition is intended. You can find out that very audience directly by the name of the system.

For example, the Home Ten is intended for individuals who need only basic functions from this OS, such as the ability to use multimedia content or office applications. Windows 10 Enterprise, which is used by employees in fairly large organizations, is distinguished by much more functionality. In this system, more attention is paid to data security issues. There are more advanced services and applications for this.

We already wrote detailed review, which exist, which, of course, included the corporate version. You can find the link above detailed information about the system.

Features and differences of Windows 10 Enterprise

First, it is worth paying some attention to those common components that users can get from the system, regardless of its version or edition:
  • Wide possibilities for personalization;
  • Built-in System Defender and Firewall;
  • Free Edge browser, which has been developing more and more recently;
  • Multitasking;
  • Virtual desktops;
  • Much more.

In general, it turns out that each edition of this system gradually increases its capabilities from version to version. For example, the simplest Home has a lot of broken features and services. If you include some of them, you get Professional, which is already sold a little more expensive. Accordingly, Windows 10 Enterprise has many similarities to the professional edition, but it is not sold to individuals. Let us remind you that today this system is mainly used by large corporations and their employees. An ordinary user is unlikely to need the features that are in the Enterprise version. Most likely, he will have enough opportunities for:
  • Choosing a way to update the system;
  • Better data protection than the Home version;
  • Possibilities to combine devices into a single network;
  • Hyper-V support;
  • Much more.

In the Corporate version, some applications have been added to increase data protection, a program for obtaining authorized access to another device on the same OS version, as well as some settings for faster updates.

If you want to use the system for free, then the one we published literally this week will help you. If you want to take care of the security issue, then we strongly recommend that you use only the original versions from the official Microsoft resource. This is where we will send you, where you can also get the version in Russian.

Launching a new operating room Windows systems 10, developed by Microsoft, became the most significant event of the year in the IT industry.

The platform is the first of its kind currently being created in collaboration with users. The reason for this was previous version Windows 8 (8.1). The developers declared it revolutionary and innovative, but instead of the expected results, it received many negative reviews from consumers.

Therefore, this time the management of the company acted more prudently: they released a trial software - Technical Preview so that in the process of use it can be modified and improved. Even at the stage of semi-readiness of the platform, one can speak of a significant breakthrough in the field of software. Let's take a quick overview of Windows 10 and take a closer look at the merits.

First, we want to tell you about the general features of the new operating system and its differences from the previous ones: XP, Vista, "seven" and "eight":

  • The Start menu in all versions of Windows 10 has been slightly changed, in particular, the list of programs has returned as in the seven, but it is combined with the "tiled" application, which many users of version 8.1 have liked. Moreover, the tiles can be kept both in a reduced version and expanded to full screen. In general, the interface has become more "flat" and simplified, which provides increased performance and easier perception for users. And it received a number of additional and useful functions, for example, it has now become interactive and can signal the arrival of mail or can tell about the weather forecast and exchange rates.
  • The new Microsoft Edge browser replaces the familiar and unloved by many Internet Explorer... Let's see if he can win the hearts of users.
  • Voice assistant Cortana - will help you find any information on your computer or on the Internet, plan your own affairs, remind you of important events, will be able to chat on different topics, etc. In general, this is something like an electronic secretary and a friend in the bottom face.
  • Virtual desktops - now in all versions of windows 10, you can easily create multiple desktops, each of which can have its own running applications and programs.
  • New "Notification Center" - it contains all the information about the operation of your computer, about emerging problems. New messages from instant messengers such as Skype or Viber, reminders, etc. are also displayed there.
  • Continuum - Allows you to easily switch between desktop and tablet modes if your device supports touch and control.

And etc.

In fact, there are a lot of innovations, and even just listing them is quite difficult. Of course, many of them are unlikely to be useful to you someday, so we tried to mention the main ones.

Now let's talk a little more separately about each edition of Windows 10.

Windows 10 IoT

Windows 10 IoT is heir Windows Embedded making the most of the experience that has been gained during the operation of this operating system in various industries and scenarios.

This product is intended for specialized devices that require additional customization for a specific use case.

The maximum coverage of supported platforms provides many advantages for developers - the versatility of applications allows you to ensure that an application written and debugged on a PC is more likely to work on an IoT device, regardless of its processor architecture (ARM or x86). A characteristic feature of the new operating system is also the fact that it integrates support for the AllJoyn project, which allows you to develop applications by abstracting from the underlying protocol and using a software layer.
The Windows 10 IoT edition line is divided into three:

IoT Enterprise(with the functionality of Windows 10 Enterprise, but with a difference in licensing);

Mobile Enterprise(ARM, with support for Universal Apps, optimized for mobile devices and supported different functions security);

IoT Core(version optimized for devices with limited resources, with support for Universal Apps, but in Single App mode).

Let's start with Windows 10 IoT Core - this is free version non-commercial version (business information coming soon) that can be installed on supported devices. IoT Core is a great option for prototyping and developing solutions for internal or personal use. IoT Core is a version optimized for devices that have quite limited resources on board. Minimum system requirements for Core - 256 megabytes of RAM and 2 gigabytes of storage plus x86 / ARM architecture.

IoT Core supports the development universal applications does not include the Windows Desktop Shell and applications like Mail and Photos.

Today Windows 10 IoT can be installed on three boards - Raspberry Pi 2, Intel Minnowboard MAX, and Qualcomm Dragonboard 410c. Each of these boards is designed for a different purpose, and, for example, someone looking to automate a simple task at home might prefer the Raspberry Pi 2. In an industry closer to Windows Embedded, Minnowboard and Dragonboard will be interested.

IoT Enterprise

The next edition, IoT Enterprise, is only available from Windows Embedded distributors, and is inherently an extension of Windows Embedded Industry. This edition in its original form is Windows 10 Enterprise, and only after activation with a special license purchased from a distributor, it acquires specialized functions - device blocking, USB filters for connecting only permitted USB devices, blocking pop-up notifications and interface controls, control applications, Device Guard and many others. Typical application scenarios can be various types of industrial devices (ATMs, POS devices, other specialized devices). The minimum system requirements are 1 gigabyte of RAM, 16 gigabytes of storage, plus x86 / x64 architecture. Since this edition is based on Windows 10 Enterprise, it supports both desktop and universal Windows applications.

One important aspect that is new to Windows is unique to the Enterprise edition, including IoT, a variant of the Long Term Servicing Branch (LTSB) distribution. This is a separate distribution that is relevant for systems in which there are strict update rules - these can be systems used in hospitals, financial and many others that require constant work for a long time. When using the Long Term Servicing Branch, system administrators have full control above updates, and inside this distribution some functions are missing, for example, the Microsoft Edge browser, and there is also an option not to apply updates for 10 years, so as not to disrupt the current operation of devices.

Windows 10 IoT Enterprise can be purchased in three options:

Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSB - Maximum full license without restrictions (except for the prohibition of use on ordinary PCs). Typical applications are industrial devices, medicine, ATMs.

Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSB for Retail or ThinClients is, in comparison with IoT Enterprise, more economical and is designed to work on POS terminals, devices with electronic signature, thin clients, kiosks, etc.

Windows 10 IoT Enterprise Tablet and Windows 10 IoT Enterprise Small Tablet - these editions are limited for use on tablets (Small Tablet - 7 ″ to 9 ″, Tablet - 9.1 ″ to 10.1 ″) with CPU limitations.

IoT Mobile Enterprise

The latest version, Windows 10 IoT Mobile Enterprise, will be available later - it is designed for systems on mobile industrial devices - mobile POS terminals, tablets, etc.

Home

Completely standard version of Windows 10. It is planned to install it on most devices sold: laptops, ultrabooks, personal computers, transformers.

If we compare this edition of Windows 10 with others, then it will have only a basic set of functions: the Cortana assistant, the new Edge browser, Windows function Hello - it allows you to log in by taking a snapshot of the user's face, using a fingerprint, as well as some other applications from Microsoft (photos, maps, mail, calendar, music and video).

Of course, there are differences between the main assemblies, although not everyone can see them, it is for this reason that the most simplified version of Windows 10 Home has been released, ideal for novice users who use their computer mainly for the Internet and other entertainment.

The only serious drawback of the Home version is the impossibility of choosing the update methods, in particular, users will receive everything they need through the Current Branch, in the already familiar Windows host Update. As in other versions, Home 10 OS integrates a number of major innovations, including:

  1. Windows Hello, a system that provides complete security when logging in (prevents unauthorized access to your data).
  2. Hiberboot and InstaGo. Both new items are designed to speed up the process of loading the OS and waking it up from sleep mode as much as possible, which adds comfort in using a PC, and also saves time for business people who count every minute.
  3. New high-speed browser for Internet surfing Microsoft Edge.
  4. Ability to work with multiple virtual desktops.
  5. The Continuum function will allow you to use any mobile device running on Windows 10 as a full-fledged PC, will make it possible to connect a keyboard, mouse, large screen, etc. to it.

Professional (Pro)

Unlike the Home version, the professional edition has much more options in the field of the choice of installed updates and in the field of work in various networks. While Windows 10 Pro is slightly different from the Enterprise edition, it can also be used by small and medium businesses.

As for updates, the Pro version will support not only the already known Current Branch, but others, for example, the Current Branch for Business (CBB), in which the emphasis will be on updating software and security systems designed for business projects. In addition, another Long Term Servicing Branch (LTSB) is envisaged. As part of updates on the CBB or LTSB system, the user will be able to independently choose not only the type and order of updates from Windows Update, but also install convenient time updates, and also refuse them indefinitely.

As for the appearance of the dozen, it has partially undergone changes. First of all, the developers of the skin have completely abandoned the Aero style (transparent panels). For ease of use, the Aero Snap function has been added to the system, which allows you to view open windows and tasks in multi-window mode. MacOs and Android already boast about the same function.

The virtual assistant Cortana has become a powerful tool, implemented in version 10, although it should be noted right away that it is not available for all regions, the reason for this was the lack of all the necessary language packs.

Enterprise

It is a business system capable of managing computers used by large companies and corporations.

It supports a number of more sophisticated features such as Direct Access (the ability to remotely access the corporate network without using VPN technology, AppLocker or BranchCache application management (a mechanism that improves the download and update process). Even more advanced mechanisms have been supported by this edition to improve computer security and the Credential Guard and Device Guard applications running on it.

As for Windows 10 Enterprise, in addition to the features of Windows 10 Pro, on which it is, in fact, it is built to meet the more stringent requirements of medium and large enterprises in terms of security and administration. In particular, updates are received in it in a separate order through the Windows Update for Business service, and it is planned to distribute it under the terms of the Volume Licensing license agreement.

Windows 10 LTSB

Windows 10 LTSB- this is a stripped-down build of the edition Windows 10 Enterprise (Corporate)... There are no separate modern features in it, in particular, Microsoft browser Edge, applications from the Windows Store, as well as the store itself.

But this is a full-fledged operating system in terms of desktop functionality. It contains the Start menu, File Explorer, Control Panel, Windows Media Player, Internet Explorer, PowerShell, Windows Defender antivirus, embedded OneDrive desktop client, notepad, classic calculator, and other standard and utility tools that have accompanied the predecessor versions of the operating system from Microsoft for many years. By default, the Windows 10 LTSB Start menu does not provide any pinned tiles, but the very ability to pin the tiles of your favorite programs to the menu in the system is present. This edition lacks the Cortana voice assistant, and the search button on the taskbar launches a regular in-system search. As in other editions, the configuration functionality of Windows 10 LTSB is scattered across both the control panel and the Settings app. In general, the LTS has been trimmed down enough to be as similar as possible to Windows 7.

Branch name - Long Term Servicing Branch (with long term service)- reflects the principle of delivery of its updates: only security updates and fixes that have been tested in stable assemblies of the Tens are installed in the LTSB. Updates injecting into the system new functionality are not supplied. The current Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTSB provides the same update settings as stable editions, in particular, the ability to postpone updates, their delivery through channels local network... There are also features inherent in the Anniversary Update - changing the active period and restarting parameters.

Windows 10 LTSB allows you to disable the operating system's spy features - telemetry and user data collection.

The shortcut to launch Explorer in Windows 10 LTSB is not moved to the taskbar or desktop by default, as in stable editions. Recall that the hotkeys for calling the explorer are Win + E. On the icon of the hotkey-triggered explorer on the taskbar, you can then call context menu to secure it.

The Windows 10 LTSB edition is designed primarily for the corporate sector - for use in the life of organizations, in particular, medical institutions, financial structures, manufacturing and trade enterprises, which are important for the stability and compatibility of software, and not for functional new goodies. But this edition can be used by both organizations and individuals. For example, professional freelancers using Windows 10 devices for work purposes, or ordinary users disagreeing with new concept Microsoft and those who believe that Windows 7 should keep the status of the "top of the evolution" for many years to come.

When tested in a virtual machine, Windows 10 LTSB behaved faster than the full-fledged editions of the Tens. Comfortable to work with virtual machine it was possible even after reducing the RAM to 1024 MB. This means that this edition may have another segment of the audience - users of low-power computer devices.

Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB, like the full-fledged Enterprise, is supplied by Microsoft initially free of charge, for informational purposes only. You do not need a key to install the operating system, the key is already "sewn" into the installation process. After installation, LTSB is automatically activated for the next 90 days. But after these 90 days, the operating system will insist on its activation. If necessary, it can be activated in a standard way- using the purchased license key.

For educational institutions (Education)

As the name suggests, this is a system designed for students, universities and educational institutions in general. Windows 10 Education offers the same capabilities in many areas that were built into Windows 10. However, Windows 10 Education, unlike Enterprise, does not support, for example, the Long Term Servicing Branch option.

It can be used by both teachers and students who can get it through the Academic Volume Licensing program.

In fact, there are a lot of innovations, and even just listing them is quite difficult. Of course, many of them are unlikely to be useful to you someday, so we tried to mention the main ones.

Now let's talk a little more separately about each edition of Windows 10.

Mobile (Mobile)

As the name implies, this version of the "dozens" is designed for mobile devices: smartphones and tablets with a screen diagonal of up to 8 inches.

Windows 10 Mobile will provide its owner with almost complete synchronization with the desktop Windows version... It has the same set of universal applications as the Home version, and is equipped with a specially prepared version of MS Office for mobile devices.

With the Continuum function, by connecting your smartphone to a large screen, keyboard and mouse, you can use it as a regular PC.

Mobile corporate

This is a variant of the corporate version of Windows 10, adapted for mobile devices and a touch screen with enhanced security.

IoT Home

This edition of the operating system is designed for a variety of computer devices: terminals, robots, etc. It has a number of specific functions, for example, for use in payment terminals based on Windows tablets.

Home

Completely standard version of Windows 10. It is planned to install it on most devices sold: laptops, ultrabooks, personal computers, transformers.

If we compare this edition of Windows 10 with others, then it will have only a basic set of functions: the Cortana assistant, the new Edge browser, the Windows Hello function - it allows you to log in with a snapshot of the user's face, fingerprint, as well as some other applications from Microsoft (photos, maps, mail, calendar, music and video).

Home for one language

This version is no different from Home, except that it does not have the ability to change the system language. It will be intended mainly for developing countries and its cost will be lower than that of a regular Home.

Professional (Pro)

Like Windows 10 Home, it is designed to be installed on personal computers and laptops, but of a more expensive premium segment. Unlike the Home version, Professional, along with basic functions, offers its owners a number of additional features that satisfy the needs of small businesses. Windows 10 Pro allows you to effectively manage company devices on which a similar system is installed, protects data, and supports remote management.

Enterprise
