The soiled was put into the washing machines together with a clean ballast cotton cloth: 50% (± 2%) of the maximum permissible load weight for each model - the test participant. There is no absolute winner: no one has perfectly cleaned everything, has not scored the maximum possible - 90 points. But we have two leaders: Hansa and Gorenje. They scored 64 points each: both completely removed 3 of 6 types of dirt: juice, gouache and marker. And almost completely one more contamination: plasticine and a ballpoint pen, respectively.

The Gorenje machine, with a similar washing efficiency, spent less time (3 hours 37 minutes), water (74 liters) and electricity (2.5 kW). Indicators Hansa: 4 hours 27 minutes, 108 liters and 3.7 kW. On all counts, this is the most in the test. In fairness, we note that the difference can be partly explained by the larger capacity of this model: up to 9 kg of linen versus 6-7 kg for competitors.

There are also two outsiders: Hotpoint-Ariston and Samsung, only the marker ink was erased, and even then only almost completely (12 points for each model). The rest of the dirt was only partially removed, the results: 4 or 8 points, depending on the type. Both cars scored 40 points. At the same time, they spent relatively few resources: time (2 hours 42 minutes and 2 hours 17 minutes, respectively), water (81 and 79 liters), electricity (1 and 1.8 kW).

For the examination, the Roskontrol Consumer Rights Protection Society purchased and transferred to its own testing laboratory 6 automatic washing machines of the brands Bosch (Germany, the model was made in Russia), Candy (Italy, the model was made in Russia), Electrolux (Sweden, the model was produced in Ukraine), Hotpoint-Ariston (Italy, model made in Russia), LG (South Korea, model made in Russia), Samsung (South Korea, model made in Poland) costing from 16 600 to 24 000 rubles at February prices.

Each of the presented models refers to freestanding washing machines that are not equipped with a dryer. It should be noted that the number of machines tested, in addition to five samples of the popular "narrow cut" (depth 38-45 cm), included one super slim (depth 35 cm) model Hotpoint-Ariston WMUF 5050 B, designed for 5 kg of linen.

Clean design

The washing machine will remain in the house for a long time, and if its appearance becomes annoying, and the control becomes inconvenient, no one will get positive emotions even from the highest quality wash.

The assessment of ergonomics, quality of materials and workmanship, as well as the aesthetic appeal of the samples was carried out by an expert committee consisting of 6 people. Manufacturers' logos and other distinctive features have been carefully masked before the so-called visual-tactile assessment so that focus group participants do not have a “brand effect” that could affect perception.

During the study of the models, the group assessed each of the engineering solutions ambiguously. Almost everyone noticed that when opening the hatch and cuvette (powder tray) of the Candy washing machine, there was a mechanical contact between these elements. Considering that the Candy washing machine, as the cheapest sample presented, did not have an electronic character display (its function was partially performed by not very visual "lamps" of the mode indicator), it received the lowest score for its design and quality of materials. The most beautiful and convenient was the Samsung washing machine. The researchers noted the "premium" materials of finishing, the convenience of opening the hatch and the "expensive", "tactilely pleasant" rotary dial for selecting modes. Thus, the direct dependence of the perception of the car on its price was revealed. Samsung is one of the most expensive samples in the test.

Reputation stains

The efficiency of the washing machine "as a whole" depends primarily on how well it copes with dirt. In order to test the capabilities of the models, Roskontrol experts prepared 6 reference pollutants: black tea, coffee, red wine, fresh cherries, fresh herbs and a meat dish (stewed pork with soy sauce). After the test cloths were soiled using a special technique, all stains were “infused” for 20 hours at room temperature to obtain a “stuck-in” effect. Then they, along with the ballast cotton cloth, ended up in the drum of each washing machine.

The total weight of the load was 80% of the maximum allowable for each model, the test wash was carried out using the most common program “Cotton 60 ° C”. Each machine has its own program algorithm, and it is this circumstance that largely determines the final result.

Each machine used a different amount of energy, water and time for the spin cycle. Basically, the model “digested” an almost full drum of cotton fabric for 3 hours. Hotpoint-Ariston worked the longest - she spent 3 hours and 10 minutes, and the Bosch washing machine became the sprinter, which finished in 2 hours and 1 minute. As a result, the rush turned into the fact that one of the most expensive dough machines could not remove the cherry stain, taking only the fifth place according to the results of the analysis of the washing quality. However, other samples with washing coped with varying degrees of success. Among them, almost no one was able to completely remove stains from fresh cherries; fresh herbs also became a problem for many. The technicians took out a perfectly clean cloth only from the drum of the LG washing machine. An inexpensive machine from Candy proved to be very worthy. The sample of the Samsung brand coped the worst with dirt: the amount of traces of fresh cherries and herbs left unpleasantly surprised the experts.

“The miracle did not happen: all samples that took 3 hours to wash coped with stains better than their“ two-hour ”competitors. Moreover, the most economical models, which consumed the least electricity and water per wash cycle, also showed lower results. The conclusions are obvious: by buying a machine with minimal energy and water consumption, you increase the likelihood of repeated washing! "

How much does a kilogram of laundry cost?

Energy consumption and cold water consumption were also measured when the machine was running the standard 60 ° C cotton program. The Hotpoint-Ariston washing machine spent the least. But it should be recalled that this model has the most modest dimensions in terms of dimensions and holds no more than 5 kg of cotton fabric. It consumes 0.74 kW of energy and 45 liters of cold water. That, translated into the language of money, was only 5 rubles and 5 kopecks for washing and spinning each kilogram of linen (of which about 4 rubles is the price of the powder).

However, other samples were also not distinguished by extravagance. The most "voracious" in this sense is the Bosch machine - the price of washing one kilogram of linen has reached 5.35 kopecks. As you can see, the difference between the outsider and the leader in this part of the test is within 30 kopecks per kilogram, or 2 rubles per wash cycle of a machine fully loaded with linen, so it hardly makes sense to make these results as a selection criterion. But it should be remembered that the less the load on the machine, the less profitable the cost of washing in terms of a kilogram of laundry will be. Even if there are only a couple of T-shirts in the drum, the energy and water consumption per wash cycle will decrease slightly.

Drum noise

The noise level is the parameter that cannot be checked in the store, but at the same time, it is the loud sound of the device that is one of the most annoying factors in the washing machine, especially if you start the wash late in the evening.

Measurements of the noise level were carried out using measuring equipment of the first class of accuracy in a special measuring chamber, during washing and during spinning at a "classic" speed of 800 rpm. (all samples have it). None of the tested machines violated the standards, but in the end, the experts of Roskontrol recognized the LG washing machine as the quietest. The loudest were Hotpoint-Ariston and Candy.

The absolute leader of this stage of the test is Samsung model spinning the laundry at 1200 rpm, after which only 30% of excess moisture remained in the fabric. The second and third places were shared by models with a spin speed of 1000 rpm with a minimum margin. Laundry after the rinse and spin program in the LG machine retained 44% moisture, after the Electrolux - 45%. Bosch did the worst with the spinning process: the fabric moistened and wrung out in it became 56% heavier. Drying such laundry will take much longer.

End of the program

Based on the results of all tests, it turned out that the efficiency of washing machines does not directly depend on the price of the device. A clear outsider in the test is the super-thin Hotpoint Ariston machine: noisy and far from perfect. The expensive Bosch model and the budget Candy in the final assessment rose to the same level, dividing the third place. The second place, again jointly, was taken by cars of the brands Electrolux and Samsung. The first one makes a lot of noise and squeezes mediocre, but it washes well, and the “face” is pleasant. Samsung's main drawback is the low quality of washing (perhaps, if you use the pre-wash and increase the intensity of the main wash, the situation will change, but the consumption of resources will noticeably increase, and the duration of the wash will increase). But the design and spin quality of the South Korean model are the best in the test. The first place went to the LG washing machine. This device has a nice design, erases better than its competitors, while doing it almost silently. Experts have complaints about ergonomics and control logic, but they do not detract from the main advantages of the model.
