Problem # 1. POP3 access is not enabled in the connected Gmail inbox

Before digging in the direction of security, you need to make sure that POP access is enabled in your plug-in box in the settings.

To check if POP access is enabled, go to the mail settings (gear-shaped button) and on the Forwarding and POP / IMAP tab, in the POP access section, check the Enable POP for all emails section.

If this function is not enabled there, then you will not be able to connect the box! If POP access is enabled, then look further ...

Problem # 2. Blocking access to connected mail for security reasons Google

As a rule, access to connected mail can be blocked because of the suspicious location from where the second mail is logged in and / or because of the suspicious application from where the logon is made. Everything would be clear if this system always worked correctly for Google. But very often it happens that access is blocked and a message about blocking access is received on the connected one, while some strange location is indicated (for example, New York) and an unsafe application is reported. And this despite the fact that the entrance to the second box is performed exactly from the same computer as in the main one, there is one location (obviously not the United States) and at the same time there can be no question of any application, all the more unsafe :) That is. Google can be 100% wrong in the location, as well as in the fact that you are trying to enter the mail through some kind of application.

Several times I encountered a similar problem and in all cases the location was determined incorrectly and no programs were installed on the computer at all that would somehow change the IP address, which could change the location.

  1. This is possibly caused by a corrupted pop3uidl file. Close the Internet access and that's it open programs... Find the file “pop3uidl and delete it. Try to connect again: it might work.
  2. Repeat step 1 with a reboot before checking your mail again
  3. You may have a corrupted account or a very large attachment file on your mail server. Large file attachments, mail attachments, or missing headers or non-RFC compliant attachments can cause this error.
  4. Do you really have an internet connection? Are you sure?
