The smartphone display has a huge 6.4 ″ diagonal in the size of a standard phablet, and this is also a plus. Hardware is the most up-to-date at the moment, it is one of the most powerful smartphones... Basically, Mix is ​​the best Xiaomi smartphone 2017, but there are a couple of nuances. Firstly, the camera in it is the most common, it shoots in almost the same way as in the much cheaper Redmi Note 3 Pro. And in the flagship I would like something much better. And the price tag in our stores is significantly higher than the official $ 520, therefore - only 6th place in the rating.

5th place: Xiaomi Mi6 6/64 GB

Xiaomi Mi 6 6/64 GB is the younger version of the most modern flagship, the body of which is not made of completely ordinary aluminum, but still relatively rare glass. 64 GB of memory should be enough for the average user, and the RAM in both versions (64 and 128 GB) is the same amount, so for most of these extra 64 GB is not worth the overpayment. The capacities of the Snapdragon 835 chipset are now abundant, this is the most powerful chip for Android smartphones 2017. The camera on board the Xiaomi Mi6 is double, with 12 MP matrices. They differ in optics, and therefore the device supports optical zoom, like the iPhone 7 Plus.

It is very difficult to find a smartphone with such a ratio of price, design and parameters. Of course, it also lacks shortcomings, and I would like to see a slot for a USB flash drive, a 3.5 mm headphone jack (it is not here, like the aforementioned iPhone), and higher autonomy. Then the device would have easily entered the top three of our rating. But since "maєmo te scho maєmo" - the device gets only the honorable fifth place in the selection.

For this money, A-brands only have Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017), and in terms of capabilities it can argue with Xiaomi only from the Redmi series. Unless he has a good camera, and is waterproof. In all other respects, this is a much simpler device, capable of competing in power only with the budget series. And the majority of competitors simply do not have stereo speakers.

4th place: Xiaomi Max 2 4/64 GB

By choosing optimal smartphone Xiaomi, which one is better to buy in 2017, is worth mentioning the Mi Max 2. After all, it's hard to find a more versatile device. Mi Max 2 also has a capacious 5300 mAh battery, which provides phenomenal autonomy for such a shovel. However, its body is quite thin, only 7.5 mm. The camera did not hurt the smartphone either, it is based on the same 12-megapixel matrix as in the flagship Mi6, only the lens is slightly weaker. Finally, a feature of the device is stereo speakers: one is located at the bottom, and the second is above the screen, and it performs the function of both voice and music. 3rd place: Xiaomi Note 2 4/64 GB

Together with Mix, another flagship phablet was shown, Xiaomi note 2. It has a 5.7 ″ curved AMOLED screen, a glass body, the most powerful processor and a decent camera. It is clear that upset by the marriage of batteries and recall Korean smartphones, people started looking for something more reliable, and Xiaomi tried to capture this niche. It is not yet clear how well they did it (Xiaomi did not report sales of Note 2). However, the device has probably become popular, since another version of it was released a month ago, with 6 GB of RAM and a 64 GB drive. Although the phablet screen is FullHD (not 2.5K QHD), and it has a PenTile structure, it displays excellent black color and does not glare in the sun.

In terms of hardware power, the smartphone is second only to modern models based on Snapdragon 835, gaining 150 thousand points in AnTuTu. The 23 MP camera does not shoot very well in the evening, but in the daytime it takes its toll due to the increased detail of the picture. The presence of manual settings allows you to control shutter speed, exposure, sensitivity, etc. And in terms of sound quality, Mi Note 2 is the best smartphone I've used. long time(I walked with him for a month), and one of the best on the market in general. Considering that the device can be found for less than 10 thousand, this is a good buy.

Apple smartphones have always been an expensive pleasure, but with the jubilee iPhone X, the guys from Apple have brought the principle of "don't go anywhere - buy" to the absolute. Because this is the first smartphone, the high price of which even Americans are unhappy with. But Tim Cook shrugs off, they say, "buy in installments, on credit or in shares", because the iPhone X is worth it. Is it worth it?

Yes and no. Yes, because in 2017 there is no abundance of quality flagships in everything. We have LG G6 - a good mobile phone, but slow due to the old processor. There is Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, in which the frames are striking due to the wide body, and the cameras are taken from some budget consumer goods. There is Sony Xperia XZ Premium, the most technologically advanced "on paper", but rather "sad" in reality - it takes so-so photos, the body is bulky, the stereo speakers are quiet ... Who else? Huawei's flagships can boast of nothing but cameras, HTC U11 is a glossy, well-polished "shovel" in an outdated design. Remains, who would doubt, Samsung.

And not anyhow, but the Galaxy Note 8, because the S8 turned out to be "under-flags" - with rearranged straight from the Galaxy S7 edge camera, a body in the shape of a soap dish, not working in Russia (and many other countries) voice assistant Bixby and hard-to-reach fingerprint reader.

But the record powerful processor, cool screen and longing of buyers for the new flagships of Samsung (Galaxy Note 7, as you remember, was out of the market ahead of schedule) did their job. And the real, full-fledged flagship has already become the Galaxy Note 8 - angular and more comfortable, with a new dual rear camera and an "adult" amount of 6 GB of RAM. And it costs ... at least 70 thousand rubles. That is, 15% cheaper than the "minimal" iPhone X.

In thousands of rubles, the overpayment is significant, in percentage terms it is tolerable. In the end, over the past year, iPhone lovers have laid out 68 thousand rubles for the iPhone 7 Plus without any problems. It is unlikely that these same people will suffer from hunger when they profitably sell the old iPhone for 30-38 thousand and get the amount for the new model from the wide trousers. because wireless charging, the new casing, processor and revised camera weren't enough to make the iPhone 8/8 Plus take off. And the iPhone X is needed because it has only one competitor, largely equivalent: in terms of camera performance, the difference between the X and Note 8 is small, the display is about as good, Apple's processor is much better, little is known about autonomy, but in all likelihood, Samsung will go into the lead. The iPhone's water resistance is less brutal, there is no stylus (although very few people need it), and without a memory card and a headphone jack, you can also live ... but it's sad.

Truly new habits with iPhone X - unlock without a fingerprint scanner and a speaker and sensor cutout at the top of the display. It turned out ugly, but the piezo speaker under the screen, as in the Xiaomi Mi Mix, does not shine with quality (so much so that the Chinese abandoned it in Mi Mix 2), front-camera at the chin level and the indentation for the sensors in the same place - the same level of insanity as the “neckline” in the iPhone X.

But a solid screen at the bottom instead of a "beard" and dimensions like the Samsung Galaxy J3 (2017) with a 5-inch display. Even in the "frameless" LG Q6, with the same dimensions, there is only a 5.5-inch (and not 5.8 ", as in the iPhone) display - the iPhone X is unprecedentedly compact.

But political wisdom says that "who does not understand, he will understand." We have just such a situation - whoever loved Apple smartphones before will whine for a long time, suffer financially, but will buy at least a basic modification of the iPhone X. Whoever wants "something similar, but cheaper" will buy Samsung Galaxy S8 from small dealers for 38 -40 thousand. The most economical guys will wait until Huawei and Xiaomi learn how to make frameless flagships, and will buy this kind of commercials for 25-28 thousand on Aliexpress in December-February.

iPhone X is unlikely to be taken as briskly as cheaper models, but it will not remain without attention - Apple fans have been waiting for a "revolution" in mobile phone design for too long, and have long been willing to pay for it.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 - "Do it like Samsung, but cheaper"

But he can afford to be capricious, because he is the last boy scout and in general a superhero without a latex suit - such are now a rarity. Here is Apple as a legislator, and on the beautifully built interaction of computers, mobile phones and licensed stores, prices bend and do not lose in prestige. But will they take expensive Xiaomi for merits in the style of “we have been selling you the cheapest smartphones with powerful processors! " - doubtful. But the Chinese do not lose hope and ardently justify why Mi Mix 2 should become popular.

Because a solid ceramic body, a flagship processor, a 6-inch screen in a 5.5-inch body, and the minimum amount of RAM is the same as the maximum on the Samsung Galaxy S8. And the display is now with the same proportions, and not "squared", as it was in the first generation of Mi Mix.

Cool? Highly! In terms of speed, display organization in the case and case materials, this is so far the only Chinese rival to the Galaxy S8 and iPhone X.

Only it is not a competitor in other dimensions - the screen is beautiful, but in quality it does not reach the "best" models. There is no water protection, there is no headphone jack (adapters came in Chinese models), the cameras are cheap, the sound in the headphones is also not outstanding, the autonomy is average. But the price, to put it mildly, is not average: when ordering from China, Xiaomi will cost only 5 thousand less than the Samsung Galaxy S8. It's scary to imagine how much they will ask for Mi Mix 2 in the official Russian store. And a little more confused by the fact that the "elite Chinese phone" OnePlus 5, which is not frameless, but better in all other respects, costs 28 thousand. The same is the price of the new Korean LG G6 with a sharper screen, better cameras and water resistance (with an old processor, really).

In general, an attempt to push Samsung flagships and Apple with the most expensive Xiaomi model will end up beating the latter in most of its characteristics. And with the Chinese relatives, Mi Mix 2 will compete with difficulty due to impracticality and poor cameras - there is a risk that Huawei Mate 10 with a new processor and an 18: 9 screen will be ahead in almost all respects and not much more expensive.

It turns out that Xiaomi has built a fast "cruiser" with a huge screen and good autonomy. Here it is, a replacement for the second generation Xiaomi Mi Note and the only "moderately large" Xiaomi in the 2017 lineup.

At the same time, Mi Note 3 was retrained from “a cheaper replacement for Samsung Galaxy Note 5/7” into a completely new model. Coincidence? I do not think!

I am trying to find competitors with a similar construction idea for Mi Note 3 and I understand that such smartphones were no longer produced in 2017. At this wonderful time, smartphone manufacturers suddenly faced a situation when people, frightened by new realities, stopped spending money on flagships at new prices and, at best, bought models at a price that appeared before the price increase.

In Russia, the prices for them, however, were still inadequate, because with the exchange rate of 75 rubles per dollar, it did not work out otherwise. But the Brazilians and other Latin Americans appreciated the maneuver.

In 2017, no one is engaged in such activities anymore - it makes no sense to change only the processor in a full-fledged flagship, if they are already buying it. And those who need cheaper smartphones buy all sorts of "Lite / mini / Play" or smartphones with a standard name instead of full-fledged flagships with the Plus / Premium / Pro index. There are not even enlarged and reduced smartphones with an average processor and cameras straight from the flagship. In this regard, the Mi Note 3 is unique.

It is even more pleasant to hold in the hand compared to the Mi 6, because the weight remains the same as that of the 5.15-inch model, but the dimensions have increased, and the smartphone has ceased to resemble a heavy bar of soap with a metal frame.

With the powerful but hot and old Snapdragon 650/652 gone, Qualcomm has plugged a hole in lineup The cheap Snapdragon 625, which was “hot” to the limit. The Snapdragon 660 came to be a real intermediate between the flagship 835 and the already mass-market old models of the 600 series.

And it did become, although it turned out to be so deeply "chopped off" in comparison with Snapdragon 835 that it lost even last year's flagship, Snapdragon 820. That is, the repetition of history, when Snapdragon 652 replaced the 808 and 810 models, did not happen. But on the other hand, this chip has become much faster in games (by 30%, according to Qualcomm), it feels better in applications, and it has a dedicated chip for processing photos and videos. That is, the difference in processor power should not affect the quality of photos and videos in Mi Note 3.

In general, the new Xiaomi has a right to exist - only cheaper flagships costing 27-30 thousand rubles can spoil its sales. Because last year's OnePlus shoots no worse than the Mi Note 3 a year later, and taking into account the "defective" processor in Xiaomi, it also turns out to be faster. And we shouldn't forget about the models that are sharply losing in price: HTC 10 and LG G6, with a difference of about 3-4 thousand rubles from Xiaomi, are better in almost all respects than the controversial novelty of the Mi-series.

Who will buy ZenFone 4 Pro for 50 thousand rubles is an incomprehensible mystery. Remember the reviewers singing praises and awarding last year's ZenFone 3 Deluxe? Have you seen at least one owner of such a model live since then?
